  1. Welcome back to the forums.
  2. Happy belated birthday @A-Jay!
  3. Most of the time I’m using a mh/f 6’6” St. Croix Premier casting rod.
  4. I like to use 15# Big Game for larger, heavier topwater baits. For smaller topwater baits, I use 10# Big Game.
  5. Working a jig along the bottom and then feeling that one single bump. Then a second later the line starts moving on its own. Hooking myself is another one that will focus all the attention.
  6. OCD signing in. I take a pic of every catch then edit the pic info with the details of the catch. When I get home I put all the info down on an excel spreadsheet. Then I’ll delete most of the pics.
  7. Try to find some sort of vegetation growing along the rip rap, or look for wood that has washed up. Another thing I like trying is looking for the edge of the rip rap out in the water. If the water is low enough, you can see it. Most of the time I will cast out a pretty good distance with a heavy Texas rig, and bring it back slow. I try to gauge how far out the bait is when I start hitting rocks.
  8. I can cast with my left hand, but it takes me a while to get it loosened up. I also can't cast out very far. Most of the time I cast this way from the shore, fishing around visible cover.
  9. I like to fish pink flukes in the spring, when the water is dingy or muddy.
  10. Dressed. Then again I fish with mostly Rooster Tails.
  11. I see another 30 bass day coming.
  12. The smallest jig I use is 1/8. The small size really doesn't pick up that much vegetation, and it's easy to pop free when it does snag.
  13. Oh wow, glad you're OK. Just raise up the motor and lean on it like you are trying to clean it off. It works pretty good unless another boat pulls up and asks if you're having problems.
  14. The sweet spot may be in the shade right under your boat.
  15. RIP Catt. You're going to be missed around here.
  16. I fish the bait all the way back until it is under my rod tip. You just never know when that bite is going to happen.
  17. Depending on the weight of those baits, I would be casting them on either a M/F or a MH/F.
  18. I have three older ones that need new hooks. I need to fix them up and take them fishing.
  19. I went fishing on Saturday. The early morning wasn't too bad, but after about 9:00 am it heated up quick. By the time I got home I had salt stains on my face and in my t-shirt.
  20. You are not alone.
  21. Early on Most of my catches came on plastic worms and swim jigs. After the temps started to warm up some I did have some luck with a few other baits. Plastic Worm Swim Jig Crankbait Lipless Crankbait Senko Type
  22. The only color jig that I have completely zeroed on is a solid brown color. Brown with another color seems to work.
  23. Happy belated birthday!
