Is it More Expensive to Fish Soft Plastics or Hardbaits?
Soft plastics. When I snag I often lose the hook and weight along with the bait.

Hey Y'all
Welcome to the forums!

Mistakes you made early on.
The biggest mistake I can think of was not paying attention to the conditions. I would just pick a bait and start fishing with it. I never thought about cloud cover, water clarity, forage...

Trip from he!!
Wow, that stinks, but at least you got it taken care of and didn't have to leave the boat somewhere for an extended period of time waiting for it to be fixed.

Do you get burned out from fishing the same spots?
Fishing the same spot over and over helps you learn the water, and as long as the bass are biting, I'm not getting bored.

"Big" bass
Around here 3+ pounds is above average. A really big largemouth is in the 4 or 5 pound range.

Spinnerbait reel
I use a Daiwa Tatula in the 6.3 to 1 ratio. I like to slow roll the spinnerbait along the bottom just enough so I can feel the blades thump.

First tick of the year
On Mother's Day, the wife and I went to the cemetery in town to visit her folks. The grass was only about 4" high, but after we got home I found a seed tick crawling up my sock and then it tried to go under it. I use a lot of Deep Woods Off and wear Muck boots. The ones with the fabric up the sides. I spray the fabric with the Off and let it soak in for a bit.

Vintage lures you remember in your dad's tacklebox...
When my dad passed away I put all of his older baits in a double sided tackle box and put it up on the shelf. Some of the baits include: Cordell Big-O Heddon Big Head Heddon Pico Spin Heddon Sonic Heddon Pico Perch

Do You Retire Lures?
I'm careful where I fish the lures are out of production so I don't have to retire them.
-
Anyone else using mend-it to combat tackle costs?
Most of the time I will heat up a small pocket knife blade and melt the plastic back together again. If the bait is just too far gone, I'll use it for a trailer.

Honk if You Can Relate
Yep, and most of the time with no replacement hooks handy. You try and straighten it with a pair of pliers and it breaks off.
-
Should Have Listened to the Old Guy... do you?
Around here the anglers look at your tackle, and the vehicle you are driving. If you are not using the latest and most expensive, then you don't know how to fish.
