  1. Bottom contact baits, and moving baits would be my strengths. Stop and go baits would be my weakness. I just can't seem to get the correct retrieve when I'm working one.
  2. Lipless crankbaits, spinnerbaits, jerkbaits, and crankbaits is what I start out with. Usually where I fish the bass want something moving.
  3. The ice is usually off the lakes completely by St. Patrick's Day. Sometimes by the first of March, but those air temps can still be cold.
  4. Lipless crankbaits, square bill crankbaits, spinnerbaits, bladed jigs, and jerkbaits.
  5. I use to watch him on TV when I was in Jr. High School. Hope your recovery goes smooth Bill.
  6. If you're having problems with it I would definitely go see a specialist. A winged scapula is nothing to fool with, and it can be very painful, because like others have said those muscle groups all work together.
  7. The only time I use a 3/4 or 1-ounce jig is when I'm punching. So my punch rig is a 6'6" Daiwa Procaster rod with an Abu 5600 C3. I have it spooled with 50# power pro.
  8. The only time I ever saw a difference between fluoro and braid was in clear water that saw heavy fishing pressure. The fluoro always seemed to do better.
  9. After my dad passed away I sold his E. Every time I think of that I could kick myself in the rear for doing it.
  10. Many people don't realize how fast and hard that cold water can hit you.
  11. I don't see any problem.
  12. I let them sink depending on how deep the water is and what is sitting on the bottom. If I'm fishing from the bank I start the retrieve as soon as the bait hits the water. This time of year I like reds, oranges, and gold with a slower retrieve. Just fast enough to keep from getting snagged.
  13. Tonight's low is expected to be -3, and the high tomorrow will be 8. Sunday the temp is expected to be close to 60.
  14. A ribbon tail wouldn't be my first choice for grass, I always seem to lose the tail because something bites it off.
  15. Submerged vegetation on a flat says lipless crankbait to me.
  16. I don't think that I have a style, but the first thing I usually do is to fish the thickest slop I can find.
  17. I wouldn't say they are smarter, but they are definitely conditioned to their surroundings.
  18. I'd go with the 300. I like to have a little extra line on the spool.
  19. I bought a new Daiwa bc reel last year. My other 3 bc reels are 10, and 11 years old. I have two spinning reels that were bought back in 2011, and I bought a light reel back in 2016 when my 15 year old Mitchell 308 died. For punching I use an Abu 5600 C3 that is around 16 years old.
  20. Maybe Pflueger doesn't need to sponsor someone to sell that particular product. An employee at BPS once told me that the president spinning reel was the best selling reel at the store.
  21. I carry bullet weights in 1/16, 1/8, 3/16, 1/4, 5/16, and 1/2 ounce. The size weight I use depends on wind, water depth, cover I'm fishing in, and the size of the plastic I am using. I use to carry a bunch of different size jigs with me, but over the years I have gotten to where I carry 1/8, 3/8, and 1/2 ounce jigs. If I'm fishing in water that is 20 or so feet or deeper, or punching, then I will bring along the 3/4, and 1 ounce jigs.
  22. I use to handwrite everything down. Then we got excel and I spent about a month and a half creating a spreadsheet. Now I can view the information however I want to see it.
  23. I read a local news article not too long ago that said Mo. and St. Louis had the worst drivers in the country. Guess it depends on which insurance company is doing the study.
  24. A couple of years ago I was walking the bank fishing some rip rap in the rain. I cast my baby brush hog parallel and felt a tap. I go to set the hook and my feet slipped on those wet rocks. I missed the fish and got a nasty looking bruise on my back.
