  1. I've been spooled just once about 40 or so years ago. We were catfishing with cut up bait, and the rig I was using was a Zebco 33 on a very limber rod. The line started going out and out and out. I couldn't do anything with that fish. When the spool was empty the line broke at rod tip. After that I started using heavier gear for catfishing.
  2. They don't have the time or money to sit down and think of a new idea so they use what they already have.
  3. Took me about two weeks also to get use to them. I had to keep moving my head around until my vision got clear. Going back at the end of the month for a new pair.
  4. That right there is classic.
  5. My arthritis is starting to act up. Cooler temps are on the way!
  6. Kind of sounds like you are overloaded. The best advice I got from my counselor was to take some classes during the semester that were fun and you don't have to think about. Don't try and get all of the hard classes out of the way at the same time.
  7. Fishing catfish dough bait I would put some on a weightless treble hook, toss it out and hold the rod. One bite and they will get the bait off.
  8. When I started fishing all I used were spinning reels. Then I went through a period of about three years where I used nothing but baitcasters. Now I use both.
  9. I stay away from waders all together. Can't stand to wear them.
  10. I like to fish tubes in the same places I fish jigs.
  11. After that I think I would have called it a day.
  12. Nice fish, nice story, and nice pond!
  13. I took a bunch of pics of my PB. They are a lot easier to carry around on my phone.
  14. 1/16 ounce white Rooster Tail when I want make casts. Live worms when I don't.
  15. Congratulations! Fishing doesn't get any better than that!
  16. Wow, these stories are heartbreaking.
  17. Wow that is some bad luck. The last rod I broke was about 10 years ago. I was fishing from the bank and hung up my bait. I grabbed the line too close to the rod tip when I tried to free my bait. Next thing I know I had a two piece rod.
  18. The rock piles in my lake are pretty shallow. Maybe 2 or 3 feet from the surface depending on how much water is in the lake. I like to drag a jig or t-rigged plastic across the top of the pile. If that doesn't produce I start circling the rock pile and fish the slopes dropping down into deeper water.
  19. Zoom super chunks or super chunk jr. is what I like to use. Pretty durable too.
  20. Welcome to Bass Resource!
  21. I always start out with a black and blue jig tied on, and go from there. Sometimes in clear water black and blue doesn't work, but when it does, it works all day long.
  22. Last year I caught bass on topwater on every outing in the spring, summer, and fall. It didn't matter if the sun was out, cloudy, night, or day. This year I could count the topwater bites I've had on one hand.
  23. They're not cute and I sure wouldn't want one hanging around the near the house.
  24. My first thought was gar, but the tails looked forked.
