I will target the same area in winter that I do in the summer. I look for cover that is over some kind of structure, and I look for big weed beds that are down deep.

I keep them in their bags. Then I fold the bags and put them in a 370 box. I have a box for creatures, worms, and soft jerkbaits.

Heddon Big Bud. Had it in the tackle box one day and put it on just to see how it would run. Couldn't believe when I caught a couple of bass on it. I should have taken a pic, but I didn't have a camera.

I usually drag it along the bottom, give it short hops, or swim it back slow.

I never go out without at least one in the boat.

If we haven't found the fish we will throw something different. One of us will fish a crankbait while the other one fishes with a t-rig. Our baits will match after we get a pattern put together.

With any luck the pre-spawn will start early to mid March. I have work to keep me occupied during the week, but on the weekend I usually start looking in the tackle bag.

I like to use them in while fishing in the slop. They finesse jigs don't sink into the mess like a heavy jig, and they are easier to bring across the tops of the weeds.
