  1. That day was Surreal. They wheeled in a TV into the office so we could watch what was going on.
  2. For a minute there I thought he was going to go under the water.
  3. Over the past few years I have noticed that the bass around here hit better on bigger baits in late Sept., and Oct. So if I start out with a 3/8 jig in the summer, I might start out using a 1/2 ounce jig with a fuller looking skirt in the fall. The colors I use depend on what the water clarity is like.
  4. Congrats on the good catching!
  5. A few weeks ago when it was cool here the bass were shallow, back in coves and pockets. Since it has warmed back up, the bass are back in the deep water hanging around the vegetation.
  6. Most of the time when I go fishing by myself I target bass. When I take the kids, we go after panfish. Once in a great while I will go after trout or muskie.
  7. Nope, I don't want them to get stolen. We have had a ton of car break ins lately.
  8. I have used them in stained water, but never clear. In clear I like greens, browns, and black/blue colors.
  9. My Dad buys pawls from Abu by the truckload. He goes through 2 or 3 each season.
  10. I have been working on learning drop shotting this year also. A couple of things mentioned above really stood out. #1 I need a heavier weight on the bottom, and #2 I am getting the feeling that I have been moving the bait to much.
  11. I like to use a Zoom super chunk trailer. If I'm fishing a green pumpkin colored jig I would start off with a green pumpkin, or watermelon colored trailer and go from there. Sometimes it helps to change it up a little. Try putting a brownish trailer on the green jig and see what happens.
  12. I move the rod tip up and down to hop the jig. If I'm dragging to stir up the bottom I will hold the rod up and use the reel.
  13. One morning I was running late to get to the lake. I got there and threw my gear into the boat and off we go. A little while later I am fishing in some weeds with a jig and feel a tap, so I swing to set the hook. Next thing I know I have a huge backlash in my reel, and the fish is gone. When I put my gear away after a trip I loosen the drag and in my rushing around that morning I had forgotten to tighten it down again.
  14. What is your fuel consumption like? Are you smelling fuel? My old car use to idle rough and eat gas like water. Turned out the fuel mix was off.
  15. You'll have to limit the size of the fish you catch to no larger than 7 lbs.
  16. I have never had any issues with a palomar knot.
  17. That color works very well around here when it's cloudy out, or when the water is stained.
  18. Anywhere from 1/16 to 1/2 depending on what kind of bait I am using, the presentation I want, and the cover / structure I am fishing around.
  19. I keep the plastics in the package they came in. It's a lot easier to remember the colors and names of the baits that way.
  20. You have some nice fish there! Good going!
  21. That's a beaut!
