  1. I can catch a ton of crappie on a pop-r when they are on the surface.
  2. I had a Shimano Sedona that I loved, and never had any problems with it. When it died I got a President and so far that has been a good reel also.
  3. No way would I spend that much for a fishing lure. I could put the money to better use buying a rod or a reel.
  4. While fishing from the bank last year, I had a bass that went maybe 4 or 5 pounds tangle my line in a tree. I spent 15 min. trying to get that line loose before I gave up and just broke it. Sometimes you get the bass, and sometimes the bass gets your bait.
  5. We have those around here. Don't know what they are called though.
  6. If their wings are anything like McNuggets I think I will pass.
  7. Most of my nicer bass have been caught on jigs also. I think the main reason is that most people do not use jigs where I fish. I see a lot of cranks, and plastics being used, but not jigs.
  8. Good job, Congrats!
  9. Congrats on the new PB!
  10. A little left on a BPS gift card + Labor Day sales + Bait monkey = Big trouble
  11. You might try fishing a jig vertically next to a dock piling.
  12. I usually have the line wrapped around the rod tip when I snap off a bait.
  13. Wow! Good thing that fisherman moved out of the way in time.
  14. Go to the Y and learn how to swim. A life jacket is not a fail safe catch all.
  15. That thing could make a meal of almost anything that lives in the lakes around me!
  16. I like to hit any garage sales, or estate sales going on close to my house. Sometimes you can find some really good deals at those things.
  17. In the lake I have been fishing lately, it's been a 3/8 black jig with a small black trailer of some kind.
  18. I started out with crankbaits. I fished them exclusively for years. Then I started fishing with a guy that was catching a ton of bass on plastics, so I backed off on the cranks and started using plastics more. Then came jigs. Now I use jigs and plastics most of the time.
  19. Good Job on the catching!
  20. Good job! That is a nice looking bass!
  21. Except for in-house classes given by my employer, I have not attended a class since I graduated 27 years ago. Not that I haven't learned anything along the way, but once was enough for me. Back then it was like some of the college classes were out of touch with the real world. Congrats on going back and shooting for your masters degree.
  22. I read somewhere that when that happens the bass are trying to wound the bait before they eat it. I have seen that with jigs before. You will feel a real good bite, and then nothing. If you leave it sit they will come back after it.
