I had pretty good luck this spring with them, but after summer started the bite turned off. I am hoping that with this cool weather we have been having that the spinnerbait bite will pick back up.

I always use my thumb. I like my spool loose also, and I hate having to adjust the tension everytime I change baits.

If you're in a boat don't try and horse the bass through that stuff. Just make sure you keep the line tight and move the boat over to where the bass is.

Sounds like the store you were at was getting rid of its summer inventory.

I usually fish plastics, so cutting a hook in half and removing both pieces is not going hurt my wallet. On the other hand a lot of the local lakes I fish are over populated with dinks so it probably wouldn't hurt to thin them out a little.

Would you buy it if it said weed magnet?

Are you keeping your line tight when you bring them in? You don't want any slack in your line. Let them run and pull the drag if they want, but keep the pressure on the line so that the line stays tight.

Check to see if the hooks are sharp.

I don't have a boat so I miss all of that cost. I spend most on line, tackle, and baits. Probably in the range of $200, and that is not counting gas.

Bigger problem with bobbers is the wind. The wind it may push the bobber around faster than you want it to move.

Carry a small towel, and when you catch a cat, wrap the towel around it. It will help hold down the fins.

Cut them up and they make great catfish bait.

For a good all around rod you can't beat a mh/f. If you are looking for something to use in the weeds, or lilypads, I would up the mh to a heavy.

My first guess would be something has gotten inside the reel, or maybe something around the shaft. Have you taken the spool off of the reel, and looked at it.

I have some of the older abu round reels. They are built like tanks.

The bass may be able to see it, but it seems like the bigger question is if it bothers the bass or not. IMHO, the bass is looking for something to eat and it focuses on the bait, and not the line.
