I'm close enough to a BPS that I can go in and just look around w/o any money.

I'd say a cat, but I have never seen one without its whiskers.

See if there are any wild berries growing around the bank. Sometimes carp will go after them if they fall in the water.

Always sharpen the hooks on new baits. Never assume that they are sharp right out of the box. That way you don't have to worry about it.

When I was a kid we were fishing around a pond. I felt something hitting my leg and it turned out I had stepped on a copperhead. Luckily I had put my foot right behind its head so it couldn't move to bite me. When I saw those fangs, I think I jumped straight up and landed about 5' away from the snake.

Another vote for the Fiskars.

Trailer never, but I will use a trailer hook if I am getting bites and missing them.

Around here right before a front comes through, you will either catch a ton of fish or the bites will shut down completely.

I heard on Thursday that some of the ice was gone on the ponds I fish, so Saturday I decided to give it a try. Had about a 10 MPH wind and some clouds. About 1:00 you could feel it starting to get colder so I called it quits. I didn't catch any, but I got to try out my Christmas present, and take care of some cabin fever.

I use both colors in the same water. Sometimes a change in the color is all that is needed to get the bass to bite.

Be very careful about having someone else provide your start up cash. Usually the one that has control of the $$$ wants to make all of the decisions.

They should have been allowed to go under. Another company would have purchased them and maybe cleaned house a little.

The question here is need vs. want. I want as many as I can get my hands on, but in reality I need a baitcaster, spinning reel, and maybe an ultra lite rig for the really small stuff.

This time of year, since the bass have time to take a longer look at my bait, I will take a sharpie to the weights.
