  1. Sometime a topwater bait, sometimes a crankbait, and sometimes a Texas rig. Wind, water clarity, cloud cover, and temp are some of the things I look at.
  2. Caught 9 of these little guys in about 3 hours. After the bite died on top they started going after a jig and chunk on the bottom.
  3. You don't have to worry about the sun coming up and killing the topwater bite.

Unless I know that particular lure is going out of production, I buy one at a time.
  5. I would contact the clubs and see how the teams are chosen for each tournament. It seems like they would at least need some random teams to keep the playing field level.
  6. The BC reel in the current lineup would be a Daiwa Tatula CT100H. For spinning it's a Pflueger President going on 12 years old.
  7. What are the water temps like around the pads? I have noticed that when the water warms up the bass will move out into deeper water, or around vegetation that gives off more oxygen.
  8. This time of year I will be fishing a spinnerbait in deep water. Around here deep is around 15 feet or so. I let the spinnerbait sink to the bottom and then slow roll it back in.

  10. I'd be fishing a topwater over the coontail right before sunrise, or after sunrise before the sunlight hits the water. I'd also try a jig or a Texas rigged plastic with a light weight around the steep dropoff at the top of the pic.
  11. Congratulations on that excellent morning!
  12. I go fishing whenever I can. It is my recharge time when I am by myself and have nothing to think about except keeping the skunk away.
  13. I never heard of finesse fishing until I joined this forum. It was always fishing with big baits and fishing with light baits. When the bass are wanting weightless 6 inch worms you need a rig that can get the bait out to the fish.

  15. Welcome to the forums!
  16. One of the best things I ever started doing was taking a look around the water before I start casting. I look at where most of the anglers are fishing, and I try to see what baits they are fishing with. After I do that I head to a part of the lake with no anglers, and either fish with a different bait, or different presentation. I fish from a lot of pressured ponds that are too small for a boat. I'm talking 3, 4, or 5 acres in size. Most anglers won't want to walk far from the parking lot, so you will usually find me on the far side of the pond.
  17. I carry two 2 liter soda bottles, only they are full of water. I learned my lesson years ago while working out on the factory shop floor with no A/C when the temp inside was around 90 or 95 degrees. In severe heat water is the best thing. Sport drinks will not cut it for me.
  18. Glad your mom is doing better and getting stronger. Thoughts and prayers for your family.
  19. Weightless plastics, t-rigs with a 1/16 or 1/8 weight, 1/8 or 3/16 oz jigs, and topwater baits. I stay with straight worms, Senko type baits, and trailers that keep a low profile on the jig.
  20. I'd try a 4" straight worm on a split shot rig.
  21. I've been having good luck with spooks in the morning from first light until the sun hits the water. After that the bite has been on t-rigs and weightless plastic worms on the bottom, usually around vegetation or structure.
  22. No purchases for me this year. I didn't see anything I wanted, and I'm all stocked up for now.
  23. 6'6" M/F for poppers, torpedoes, and small walking baits. 7'0" MH/F for Jitterbugs, large walking baits, buzzbaits, and frogs.
  24. BPS 3" Stik-O.
