  2. In laymans terms, is the humerus bone the same as the funny bone?
  3. I'm not big on spinning reels but ever since I got a few Pflueger Presidents, it's hard not to fish with them each weekend.
  4. I took the crank plate off a Patriarch and attempted to put it onto the Revo. The mechanics lined up exactly, the only difference was the overall ergonomics of the case design. Notice the handle attachment!! I haven't seen a Pflueger with a handle nut used on their premium reels in quite a few years.
  5. Ouch! That one touched a nerve. ;D
  6. 6'8" MHVY for spinnerbaits. 6'6" med for cranks or topwaters 6'6" MHVY for soft plastics or jigs 7' MHVY for flippin, pitching or C-riggin 6' med spinning rod
  7. How about this topic "You have $150,000 to spend on clothes for Sarah Palin, what would you buy and where would you buy it?" Try and keep it clean. ;D
  8. Snopes says it's false. http://www.snopes.com/crime/warnings/carjack.asp
  9. Great drag. Great feel on the rod. Great line capacity. Solid feeling reel. Centrifugal braking is easier to set up than on the SX or STX. I've got a pair of them and love them.
  10. That it doesn't have one. Suppose it's got a centrifugal?
  11. I'll say. Notice the lack of the mag brake! You know what that means.
  12. Thanks, Muddy. Since it has pretty much the same line capacity as the Summit, I think I may get another one of those. I have one and really like it. I picked up a summitt at BPS last weekend for the first time. It's a really nice reel. Unless you want the metallic finish on the Patriarch, that reel would be a great substitute since it basically has nearly the same features.
  13. I used to fish a county parks lake. Part of the lake was only accessible by wading through a couple of swampy, marshy areas. That eliminated the vast majority of anglers right there. Once on that side of the lake, a really great spot required me to climb down a very steep bank. I had to literally wrap my left arm around a tree, cast with my right and reel with the arm still wrapped around the tree. ;D It was a great spot with a creek channel that came up along the bank with submerged timber. I always caught great fish there. They ruined the lake when they bulldozed and contoured the shorelines and put in elevated walkways over the marshes. I haven't caught a decent fish out of that lake since.
  14. Boat manufacturers tend to handle livewell plumbing a little different from one another. Most recirc systems take water from the livewell and pump it back in via a aerator head back into the livewell. I'm not completely sure how Nitro plumbs that line though. You're losing water as you run through the LW drain line. Most boat manufacturers have a shutoff valve in the cockpit area of the boat that turns the drain line off. Overflow is handled by the overflow tube. If the boat doesn't have a shutoff you'll have to install a plug into the drain at the bottom of the well.
  15. I've tried both braid and fusion braided lines for cranking. My advice. Don't.
  16. Not a swimbait fishermen but the good part about the WLP is the extra line capacity comes from a wider spool. The overall profile of the reel isn't taller.
  17. He wanted to know where he could find the narrow spool versions.
  18. Patriarch 64WLP - 160/12, 130/14, 90/17 6.4:1 ratio. 8.4oz. Patriarch 64LP - 140/10, 100/12, 80/14. 6.4:1 ratio 8oz. That's off the boxes
  19. I've purchased 3 of the LP reels recently off of Ebay. 2 of them were $125 shipped for free and the 3rd was $115 shipped free. They were all new in the box and they were all buy it now.
  20. I'm pretty much a one method pete with jigging spoons. I've got one lake they work pretty well at. The lake has around 15 aerators. During the summer, the shad really school up around these and the bass come and go. Often they hang down towards the bottom and rush up the middle of the air boil and slice through the schools. You can spot the fish around the aeration boils on the graph. Drop a Hopkins spoon down, around 3/4oz and jig away.
  21. Those 2 were featured on one of those great diner joints shows on the travel channel I think.
  22. I was in BPS yesterday and saw my first Curado E up close. Interesting paint job on it though I'm not a fan of Green reels. Had a nice feel to it and the VBS braking system blows the STX away. IMO, in the price range of the STX or even less, there are reels out there just as good. Daiwa Zillion BPS Johnny Morris Pflueger Patriarch Pflueger Summit Pflueger Supreme I can't speak on the offerings from Quantum as I've never used them nor the latest Curado. I will say that despite all the great features of the STX, the reels braking system is not as good as any of the other reels I've listed nor even those I didn't. They can be a pain to setup and cast under differing lure types, wind conditions and line type. JMO of course and I'm sure other(s) will argue.
  23. I would definitely investigate the support the reels will have after the sale. If something breaks, who can fix it? Will St Croix back it up 2,3 or 4 years from now? Always good questions to ask if you're considering buying branded fishing equipment.
  24. Since you brought up All Stars here's a suggestion. I'm suggesting Team All Stars. Moderately priced. TAS 806C is a 6'8" MHVY rod. Considered a spinnerbait rod this rod could also be used for plastic worm fishing or jigs. TAS 783 is a 6'6" light, fast rod. Don't let the light fool you on this rod, it's still relatively stiff. They call it a topwater rod, you could use this for tossing crankbaits as well. Spinning TAS815WWS is a 6'9" spinning rod that's med/fast action. They call this a wacky worm special but the rod is great for small jigs, finesse applications, floating worms, senko's or chomper type grubs. http://bobbysfishinrods.com/ Bobbys has TAS rods for $85 each. Quite a deal.
  25. The V6 will be better on gas than the V8 when not towing the boat but will suck more gas than a V8 towing it.
