Nearly 4 years later and the thread starter is still a newbie.
  2. Suzuki's are supposed to be pretty good motors.......till they break. Then try and find someone to work on it. They really lack a solid service network countrywide and nobody else wants to touch them.
  3. After seeing the Shimano forum in action, I'm wondering if there wouldn't be a way to create a forum where users of rods and reels could give their reviews of equipment they own? The forum could be brand specific with stickies for Pflueger, ABU, Shimano, Daiwa, etc. Posting would be intended for those that own the reels and are giving their users opinion of their likes and dislikes along with suggestions for changes and for those interested in purchasing. Flames and troll posts would be deleted. Seems like a lot of folks with specific questions about various brands of rods and reels could get their answers quicker browsing the brand specific sticky threads instead of posting a new thread which become rather redundant. It could also be a place where manufacturers interested in feedback from rod or reel owners could be directed to.
  4. What it really means - The previously damaged shipping label is now completely un-readable by our scanners. It's on one of our "I don't understand what we do with this package" trucks which run back and forth across country continuously carrying all the other packages we don't know what to do with.
  5. What it really means - Your package fell off the conveyor belt, 20 ft to the floor. An intense game of soccer broke out with your package as the kicking object. The game was about to go into OT when a supervisor showed up and ended the fun. The now barely legible shipping label was deciphered and then thrown onto the correct truck. What it really means - We got the money. Don't hold your breathe on the package delivery though, S-o-o-o-o many things can happen to delay it.
  6. I'm still in the process of switching reels. I've got the rods set. Most of my money right now is going towards my boat rehab. Here's my list. 7. 8. Not having a garage wide enough to fit your boat into. BTW, I had a clogged pet **** once. Putting a little more barley in his feed helped clear that up.

  9. Try and find Cool Edit 2000 or a later version. It's an absolutely amazing audio editing program.

The first warning was in 1973. There was a second in the 2nd gas crisis in 1979-1980. The department of Energy was created during the Carter administration to work on finding alternative energy sources. It failed, obviously. We've had 35 years to devise an energy plan. We've spent billions over in the middle east protecting their oil. We've lost plenty of American lives doing the same. Do you really think there would have been a Gulf War 1 or 2 if we already had an energy policy and were self reliant? Nope.
  11. $3000-5000. Much of that going towards the boat restoration.
  12. Saw them the last time I was in the store in St Charles MO. Nice, light rods but I just can't do it. I've always been one that didn't want to disclose what I was fishing with on the lake, lures or otherwise. They literally glow and you can see a guy fishing with one of those rods from a 1/4 mile away. ;D
  13. Sold all of my Revo SX and STX's along with a few of the S reels in favor of Pflueger Patriarchs and a Summit. I still need another Summit and a Patriarch. I'm thinking about switching my crankbait reels from Johnny Morris HC's and SC's to the Revo S with the 5.4 gear kits. no changes anywhere else.
  14. A see a weird problem now. On multiple page threads, the current page is displayed but the next page or previous pages aren't. If you mouse over the spot where those page numbers would be the the arrow switches to the hand so you can click and access them but the actual page number is invisible.
  15. You're correct to a degree if you compare them to today's cars. Remember though, there's 40 years worth of technology advances that make todays cars what they are. The 60's early 70's muscle cars Detroit was turning out did what they were designed to do. Go very fast in a straight line. There were some sportier versions of cars back then that took technology from the old Trans Am racing series and incorporated it into special edition cars like the Shelby 350's and 500's, the old AMC AMX, some one off edition Camero's, etc. . Driving performance, as far as how well a car could turn left or right, was largely ignored though. Passenger cars were basically road boats designed for safety and marshmellow rides and the muscle was meant to win at the drag strip.
  16. Yep, just another old model BPS JM reel repainted and re-introduced as new. Not that there was anything wrong with that particular reel in the first place but really, it would be like GM chrome plating a 2004 model car and trying to sell it as a new model.
  17. What? And listen to this the next 10 years? "I don't know why you wasted all that money on a tux, you used it one time and never since. I bet you can't even fit into it anymore."
  18. The state of Missouri has 3 methods to mark off private property. Fences, of course. No Trespassing signs. Marking any tree or post with purple paint. See any of those and it's off limits without permission. If you don't see anything I'd go ahead and fish away. Without markings of any kind you definitely have a good excuse if you say "I didn't know, it wasn't marked."
  19. Those could also be used by Cobia fishermen when the cobes are chasing the same thing in the spring.
  20. http://www.jannsnetcraft.com/mustad-worm-hooks/023534054769.aspx It appears jannsnetcraft is selling an 18" worm as a novelty for only $2.99. $9.99 is a mighty expensive plastic worm.
  21. I usually start any centrifugal brake reel with 2 on. Brakes pushed outwards. The rest are clicked in. Make sure you turn the two on on opposing sides of the brake mechanism.
  22. I would be very hard. The post was meant to It worked.
  23. The key words here are "without destroying it" ;D This is a low water dam on the Big River at Cedar Hill Missouri. The dam at one time held back water for use in the mill you see in the background. The dam was breeched years ago in a flood. There is a 2-3 foot drop between the river below and the dammed pond above. The breeched area (whitewater you see in the middle of the picture) is full of broken up chunk boulders. My buddy regularly ran that breech with his 18 1/2 johnboat with 85hp Johnson with Jet drive. The first time he did it when I was in the boat I about cr*pped my pants as we approached it. After bouncing off several boulders we got through. I wouldn't recommend it though. That fits the description of a shallow area that could destroy your boat.
  24. All boats will chine to some degree once you get up on the pad only. Tritons though, have a tendency to be a little worse. You're going to have to learn to live with it by spending more seat time.
  25. You want to make your Revo S cast like your SX? Open the palm plate, turn off all the brakes then put the cover back on. Your S reel will now backlash just like your SX. In fact, just like the even more expensive STX.
