  1. They were an entry level boat, IIRC was built in KY. As with a lot of entry level boats of that vintage, be very, very suspicious of the wood in that boat as far as the stringers and transom. Those type of boats were usually built on the cheap and the methods of sealing wood in the hull and transom were often insufficient or they used none at all.
  2. Rich has decided to have one more on Oct 25th. 7am - 3pm, 6am sign up. If interested, email Rich at wormdragger@hotmail.com or call the bait store at Washington Co. (618) 327-9311 for more details.
  3. Have you checked the reel seat for burrs or rough spots?
  4. They can often get wear marks. What rod and what reel?
  5. Yikes! $265 for 20oz. carpet to cover a 17' boat and no adhesive comes with it? I just purchased a 20' roll of 20oz. to do my Champion 18 1/2. I paid a whopping $150 total. Add in adhesive and some blades for the carpet knife and I still won't hit $200. I'd look into buying a roll and save yourself some money.
  6. Already off of the website. I've got a few of the older Classics. All are crank bait rods. I really wonder if there was backlash towards the change of the rods color from the original dark grey/maroon to the blue. It seems the older classics sell well in the aftermarket demanding near new prices but the American Classics don't despite the fact they're basically the same rod, just a different color.
  7. I realise this is probably how it has to be done. I've read this same thing in a couple of other threads. This just sounds like a really bad design? With all the fuss about backing off drags when not in use, "locking down" the drag to remove the handle just sounds like a future drag problem waiting to happen. You're only doing this long enough to remove the handle and do what you have to do with the reel. Pflueger has done this on their reels for a number of years now. It eliminates the need for a handle nut and nut cap and gives the handle a smoother appearance.
  8. You mean pitching. Flipping is done with a set amount of line out and the reel engaged. For pitching, just how far are you trying to pitch?
  9. Chuck Woolery has to fish to feed his family? Times must be getting tough out on the west coast.
  10. $700 billion dollars divided by 100 million Americans = $7000 worth of beer per legal age american. Talk about your recovery plans. We'll all need to be taking the 12 steps when this mess ends.
  11. Contact Muddy, get his shipping addy and send the reel to him straight. I'll pay the $20 + shipping. I'll need your mailing address.
  12. The Pflueger Presidents are pretty amazing reels at that price point.
  13. S reel for $69, SX for $104 and STX for $139. All good prices but I've never seen any Walmart around these parts carry them.
  14. What's a circuit board crank? :-?
  15. I think it's low, too. TT's "pros" are substantial, and their "cons" are trivial. The only really significant issue is the lack of a lefty, and 7-8 lbs of drag, which I think is a wee bit low (JM Elite makes 14 lbs, I think). If the Patriach casts anything like my JM Elite reel did, then it is absolutely competive with the Abu and Shimanos in the same price range. The Partriarchs I've seen were flawless in their finishes, inside nd out. I think the reel deserved a higher score. But hey, there is no denying that site is really a mecca for the Shimano/Diawa crowd. After fishing this past weekend comparing the JM's and the Revo STX's I'm afraid I'm about to become a Flooger guy. There's just no comparison. While the STX casts nicely, getting the spool tension correct along with the mag braking is touchy. By Changing lure weight or if the wind changes direction you have to readjust. The JM's aren't so critical. I just bought a Patriarch tonight. Looks like the Revo's will be up for sale here.
  16. Apparently gas down by Lake of the Ozarks is selling for $2.95. Still around 3.30-3.35 here in St Louis.
  17. The whole book thing is a scam. I can see the need to change textbooks frequently in technology classes but English comp or math? : BTW, Prof's providing notes needed for passing exams? That's like a person using a walker because to they're too lazy to walk. Whatever happened to the syllabus, instructing students how and what the test questions were going to be based on and then letting the students go about the task of studying the material so they know it? Sounds like the test notes on-line thing is merely a crutch for those too lazy to do the work needed throughout the semester to pass tests.
  18. I pulled the palm plate off my Johnny Morris JMX10HC too see if it compared to the Patriarch, close but not the same. The Shimano guys laugh but they have no idea just how good this dual braking system is. It's virtually a thumb free way to cast. I've also found the titanium finish is quite comfortable for an entire day of fishing. I'm seriously considering changing out my Revo's for either this reel or more of the Johnny Morris reels. I like them that much.
  19. The key to getting the correct receiver drop down is in knowing what you need to get the trailer frame level with the ground below it. This varies depending on how low the reciever end is under the back bumper and how much the weight of the trailer deflects your rear suspension down when it's mounted on the hitch. Mount the hitch and measure from the bottom of the hitch to the ground. Get the trailer level and then measure from the bottom of the coupler to the ground. That difference is part one of the equation. Then set the trailer onto the hitch or the step plate of the bumper to weigh down the back end of the vehicle and measure the distance again from the bottom of the receiver to the ground. Subtract the differences and that will tell you the amount of drop you need.
  20. You mean there are some here that DON'T fish windblown banks if given a choice? I learned a long time ago, if the wind blows, head to the side of the lake the wind is a blowing to. Specifically key on cover, points, pockets, underwater humps, etc the wave action is working on. Yes, it's a pain in the butt to fish since you're constantly having to work the TM while you fish but 9 out of 10 times your best bite on the lake will be on the leeward side of the lake.
  21. I've never heard of a calico bass. So what's the story on these fish? Are these a salt water species? How do they fight? How big do they get? Are they indigenous to the west coast?
  22. It's all in the links at the top of the page. http://www.bassresource.com/fishing/bass_boat_carpet.html
  23. Everything you need to know is right here at the top of the page. http://www.bassresource.com/fishing/Winter_boat.html sad that there's so much information available here but no one bothers to utilize it.
