NATURAL LAKES
Well, the old Fishing Facts magazine was great for teaching fishing on natural lakes, they're still in business. One of their writers/Editors, Spence Petros started up the North American Fishing Club. You might want to check them out as well as the Lindners Angling Edge TV show. Of course the In-Fisherman still exists. All of those (I'm not sure about the North American Fishing Club) are great learning media which do a great job of teaching, especially on Northern, natural bodies of water.

Shortening steering cable
You don't. You buy a cable that fits the application. Teleflex has a measuring gauge on their website as does BPS, Cabela's in their catalogs.

Tackle boxes
I have 2 of these. I transfer the 3700 boxes in and out as seasonal patterns dictate. Soft plastics I keep in ziplocks inside of clear zippered larger bags. Spinnerbaits I store in a 100 count CD soft carry case.

NASCAR Bass Boat
I understand the Jeff Gordon edition comes with about 20-30 little beer cans you can throw at the boat if he wins a tournament.

fuel priming bulb issue
I used to have problems all the time with the connector end. I was replacing new connectors on my Yamaha every couple seasons. Then a Yammie mechanic told me the problem was on the motor side, the connector there was ever so slightly misaligned causing the connectors to wear and never seat right. He suggested to just take out the connector and run the fuel line straight to the fuel filter. I did and have never had a problem since.

Other uses for Mossyback besides jigs and worms...
I have an old 6' Pistol grip BPS Bionic blade IM6 pistol grip rod that's a med/fast action that I normally use for topwaters but have thrown rat-L-traps with, crankbaits and lighter, 1/4 oz spinnerbaits. My Titanium 6'9" Wacky worm special rod can also sub for a jerkbait rod.

question about this lure.
I just did a quick check on Ebay and found several of those Lightning shads on auction. Starting bid was $4 on all of them and there were around 5 lures with a few takers with only a day left in the auction. As for the prices that guy claimed? I've seen some original, NIB Storm wiggle warts in some oddball, one-off colors go for $25-30. I've paid upwards of $20 - 22 for some older SV-SP wiggle wart colors. The fact you don't have the boxes hurts the price some. As for the collectability of this model, I'd hang around Ebay for awhile and watch prices. I don't believe I've ever heard there was a demand for this model Storm that drew those kind of prices though.

bobber stop?
I use them for crappie fishing and I've never had a problem with them getting fouled up with the guides. Fairly easy to attach too.

Hats off to All Star Rods customer service.
Most of my rods are All Stars, I've never had to use the Customer service but it's nice to know they take care of you! 8-)

My E21 Carrot Stick finally arrived!
Did you get the optional tool that allows you to change the action of the rod?

Need Some Help - Lake & Lake Dam Restoration
Now that it's in private ownership I'm afraid there's not much you can do. The fact the dam had to be partially dismantled is an indication that it was in bad enough condition that replacement may have only been a feasible option. Public funds are in such short supply that a dam is a very low priority unless it's threatening life and limb downstream and in this case, it probably was which is why the thing was partially torn down to begin with.

Alfalfa hay bales for fish attractor.
Putting hay bales in the water is supposedly a method for clearing up a pond or lakes clarity. How well it works I don't know.

Casting Weightless Plastics with a Baitcaster
I throw weightless senko's or other soft plastics all the time with baitcasting rigs. Backlashes do occur sometimes. While a smooth reel is preferred, I use a Revo S with the brakes set 3 in and 3 out, the rod is the key. As previously stated, a smooth sidearm or roll cast works best. Get the feel of the rod and lure during the cast, you want that lure to load the tip as much as possible. If you're not using a Med action rod with a faster tip I'd suggest doing so. A MHVY just won't work well for what you're trying to do. Practice in the backyard, practice, practice.

program for fishing reports?
You could also build a very nice program using Microsofts Access.

Can I get a BOOOOOYAH!
Now you'll be able to join in with the Loomis gang and talk about how great that $50, no questions asked lifetime warranty is when one of the rods breaks in the near future. ;D

Hook keepers on rods
I use the slide over, webbing type rod protectors so using a hook keeper on the rod is not feasible.

Lake Talquin Sept.29
So do you fish Talquin often? I ask because I vacation down at PCB and have wondered about the bass fishing there and at Deer Pointe lake.

How do you repair a transducer cable?
The wire consists of an insulated inner wire and an outer sheath/braided wire. Cut the wire in half at the damaged area. Strip back an inch or so of the outer cable. Pull the braided sheath wire back. strip the insulation off both ends of the inner wire. Slide on a piece of heat shrink tubing before connecting the wire together. Twist both ends of the inner wire together, solder, then slide the heat shrink tubing over your new connection and shrink the tubing down over it. For the outer wire braid, you can either use a larger piece of heat shrink tubing or electrical tape. Pull the braided outer wiring and twist both ends together. Solder. Then either slide you heat shrink tubing in place or wrap thoroughly with electrical tape. You should be good to go. I've had several cables cut in half the same way yours did, this method has never failed.

That one moment,...you knew
My Dad wasn't much on fishing, he considered it a waste of time though he did know how to fish. I loved it but didn't get to do it much as a kid. Then I was at my Uncles house and picked up a copy of Field and Stream or Outdoor life, I forget which. Homer Circle was a contributing writer and he did an article on the first Bass Masters Classic on Lake Mead. I was mezmorized. Somehow everything just clicked. It's been a serious addiction ever since.
