Congrats Guido! He and his son live on LOZ. Back in the day, there were some unique tricks to catching fish down there when things were tough. Many were attributed to him.
  2. There's lots of companies selling those, some for under cars but while they may be waterproof, submersible is another matter.
  3. I started a new thread here http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1190804824 for the Oct 6 Tournament. $10 a person entry. Pays big bass and 1st and 2nd place. Check in starts at 6am at the concession building at Washco Tourney from 7am - 3pm.
  4. From the looks of those tests, BPS line, Berkley transition and the Pline Halo fared the best. That certainly makes me less likely to start spooling more reels with Flouro. The knot strength tests were really eye opening.
  5. The Rams beating someone... ;D
  6. No pictures of fish?
  7. I'm not much on spinning equipment as a primary worm rod. Each to their own I guess.
  8. As George said, make sure you take that boat out and drive it before buying. Chine walking at top end speeds are one of the downsides of Tritons. It can be corrected by driver input but make sure you're comfortable with that issue before dropping a dime on that boat.
  9. Most of todays engines are well made and if taken care of, will last a long time before something catastrophic happens. As for the expenses? You'll have to run that 90hp full bore in order to achieve the same speed that a 135 would do at a lower throttle setting. Hence, a 135 would be running in it's gas saving power band to achieve the same speed as the 90 which is running in it's extreme gas sucking power band. You'll save money with the higher horsepower and always have the extra speed if you need it.
  10. Flech covered most of the costs involved in boat ownership. Frankly, I've bought boats new with a loan, bought used boats and had a loan and finally bought used boats without a loan. Buying used with either a quick to pay down loan (2 years or less) or paying cash straight up is the way to go. Here's a few things to keep in mind. My boat and motor are a '86 boat and a '87 motor. Other than normal repair stuff like switches, carpeting, replacement of electronics, battery replacement every 3-5 years, trailer tires, motor spark plugs, etc. I've had little problem with either that required massive amounts of money to repair. A new boat has a limited warranty on the workings of the boat. While you're not having to pay for maintenance items like Flech and I are, you are paying for it with the interest on the loan. If you pay the boat off in 5 or 6 years, you're then at the stage where stuff on the boat will have to start to be replaced, IE: pumps, switches, electronics, etc. Boats depreciate fast. There are lots of 2-4 year old boats out there that you can get for thousands less than new that still have like new characteristics about them. That's where I'd be looking.
  11. It was tough, Val and I each had a keeper fish come unbuttoned at the boat. The forecasted 10-15 mph wind from the NE never happened, most of the morning was dead calm and it got pretty hot, at least for the first day of fall. We caught a bunch of small fish. Val and I were catching them on a worm bite but the fish just weren't committing all that well to taking the worm. They'd pick it up, drop it, push it some, then take it again, if you were lucky they eventually pick it up so you could set the hook. I got frustrated with that and switched to a tube, sluggo and a jig. Nothing on them. Most of my fish came on a Regular Rat-L-trap, a floating Rat-L-trap and a Rapala Glass shad. Hopefully we'll see more guys out in Oct.
  12. Education is never wasted energy! Well, when you start factoring in the lost fishing time......... ;D
  13. dink already sore lipped all those fish up the lake last week so they'll be in no mood to bite tomorrow. ;D
  14. It's almost over muddy. Hang in there. I graduated with my Assoc in 2004. Working 45-50 hours a week full time + 3 classes a semester burnt me like toast. What a shame. When I entered college, the IT field was looking for assoc. grads, when I graduated they weren't. Sort of a waste of brain energy. The fact that I graduated with a 3.84 gpa makes that diploma very bittersweet.

Where do they sell these $40 dollar bass boats? Do they have a website? ;D Back to the topic. I agree. You could catch the world record largemouth with a Zebco 202 and a 5' ultralight Ugly Stik if you are in the right place at the right time. Help me out here Scott. Do I understand you right, you're now dropping the price of your boat to $40? Consider it SOLD!! Give me your paypal addy again. ;D
  16. This should get the big boys looking
  17. If the reel is in as good a shape as the one picture I'd say you did pretty good. Used reel prices vary, mostly due to the popularity of the reel in question along with the condition and age. I've seen a few of those Supremes on the forum boards recently and they all sold for roughly the same price.
  18. ummmm, comfort food. ;D
  19. Back in the early days of bass boats, Ranger was considered the premium brand out there. There was fact to that as well as some fallacy. Back then there were a number of low quality builders and it wasn't unheard of for someone to get stuck with one of those pigs. Rangers commanded a premium price for the quality alone, you knew you were getting a quality boat even though there were others building just as good. Times changed. Ranger still makes a quality product but the competition has caught up and in many cases is selling the same quality for less. Fishing rods, even the sacred Loomis are no different. Time and competition tends to level the playing field eventually. and that's all I have to say about that.
  20. When you turn off I-64 there's a Micky D's. Pretty sure they're open at that time. There is also a hardees or Burger King in Nashville, also on the way to the lake. Not sure on their opening time.
  21. 92 degrees this weekend. ugggh. Breakout the shorts and sandals again. I guess we'll see how this long hot trend effects the bass that were starting to get into a fall pattern.
  22. No picture for me either. I've got 7 Revo's now, S, SX and SC models. Love all of them.
  23. I don't remember the year but it was an early 70's Tomboy bassboat. An old bathtub style hull. Had a livewell and two small storage areas under each seat. No raised casting decks. stick steering with a 35hp Johnson motor.
  24. It can be equally hard to go from bass fishing to SW fishing, especially bottom fishing with circle hooks. It's really hard to basically let the fish take the bait and hook itself. There's this immediate reaction to want to set the hook and hard. As a pointer, make sure you're using quality hooks regardless what technique you're using and sharpen them. Unless a bait came with premium hooks on it you need to change them. That also goes for any hook you're using with soft plastics. Spend the extra money and go with premium hooks, You'll get more hook-ups because of it.
  25. Most livewells have a an overflow that excess water flows into when the livewell pump is on. It either exits out the side of the boat or out the rear. As for the pump you've got and the odd location of the switch? I have no idea.
