  1. Don't take it out of the package whatever you do. The one on Ebay will be worth more due to it being older and in an older Smithwick box. Good luck if you decide to list it.
  2. Yup there is more to just using pliers on the line tie shaving the lip can make a big diff also and it dont take much.LC,s might have more QC but losing a $20 lure would P&%S me off more then tuning and losing a 3 dollar one anyday In some of the places I throw crankbaits, that $20 bait would be reduced to a beat up shambles in no time.
  3. I've owned quite a few Normans. Caught plenty of fish on them. You occasionally have to tune one out of the box but big deal. If you know what you're doing that takes all of 1 minute.
  4. Storm suspend strips or dots can turn any crankbait into a suspending jerkbait. Here's a freebie. Pickup some floating Rat-L-Traps, add suspend dots, you've now got a suspending Trap.
  5. "Honey, what are you cooking on MY stove and what's that smell?" "uhh, nothing, just a little experiment I saw on the innernet."
  6. Just a thought. I realize it's still around 5 months away but are there any water level issues at the lake currently that could become an issue if the drought persists?
  7. I have a Quantum Tour spinning rod and really like it. Their PT edition rods are also quite good.
  8. Hey guys, tease him all you want, but I've almost done this while flushing the work toilet (leaning over to flush while my phone was in my front pocket). P.S. After reading some of these posts, I see what Russ meant about our "sarcasm" getting out of hand. Let's try and be nice, OK? -Fisher I'm not teasing. Why would you take your cell phone into the toilet? The last thing I want anyone hearing is those........sounds........ that needn't be heard by anyone other than myself...
  9. Link please. I don't find out about any of this stuff until I show up at tournaments with BFR members involved. What am I missing?
  10. What exactly are you doing that's causing your cellphone to fall into the toilet? :-?
  11. Looks like a typical weekend at Lake of the Ozarks.
  12. George is right. A boat of that vintage w/0 a motor isn't worth squat. Just taking a quick look at it and you start adding up the upgrades. Motor TM Electronics Steering system?? Carpet Deck finish looks shot Electrical system Batteries?? That's just on the surface. What's the condition of the transom and floor? Knock-off boats were often poorly made with little care given to longevity of the wood components.
  13. 1. Make sure the TM battery connections are tight. 2. If you have a circuit breaker at the back of the boat in the engine compartment by the batteries, check to make sure it hasn't kicked. 3. If the TM has a circuit breaker on the foot pedal, make sure it hasn't kicked. 4. At this point, use a voltmeter or circuit test light to see if you're getting 12V. up to the TM foot pedal. If you aren't, you've got a problem between the batteries and the TM pedal. If you are, you've got an issue with something on the pedal or the TM itself. Without knowing your setup it's difficult to troubleshoot beyond that.
  14. Plywood with several coats of epoxy resin will work fine. Do not use fiberglass resin as it's too brittle for that sort of application.
  15. Andy Griffith Gilligans Island Mash (the first year, it tanked after that for me) Happy days (The first year or so, became predictable after the Fonzi character took over) Night Court Barney Miller WKRP Newhart (I'm Larry and this is my brother Daryl and this is my other brother Daryl. Best final episode ever) Seinfeld Green Acres Cheers Wonder Years (Makes "That 70's show" look pathetic) Fawlty Towers
  16. Get out your owners manual. There should be a tension adjustment on the foot pedal to stiffen the resistance.
  17. Don't take my reply the wrong way. I owned a MK power drive motor for 7 years. I would never own one again. The only way I'd ever recommend one is for the following situations. You fish on an electric only lake. You do the majority of your fishing off shore - on structure away from the bank or cover. Those motors are the last thing I'd put on any bassboat. The minuses far outweigh the plusses. BTW, they do break down more than cable steer units and the cost to repair is higher.
  18. What do you mean by the trolling motor dying? Anything can be fixed, just depends on how much you want to spend. Because those MK power drive, auto pilot, maximizer, remote controlled TM's have all that bling on them, they become more susceptable to failure. If you want a TM less likely to have a break down, buy a simple cable foot controlled TM like the Edge series. I've had my All Terrain MK for close to 10 years now and have only done some routine maintenance.
  19. http://www.simplicity-marine.com/ultraflex/ultaflex_steering_systems.htm http://www.uflexusa.com/pack_steer_sys.html http://www.uflexusa.com/pdf2004/download/6-19.pdf http://www.motormarine.net/engine.htm?UID=39661959 If this is an old steering system it's quite possible the cables needed for it are no longer available and you'll have to change over to something newer. Complete single steering systems aren't that expensive.
  20. Pork, the other white meat.
  21. I still have a few old Fliptail Big Daddy 9" black worms that are easily 25 years old. Still very usable. I'm like Catt, a little of the clear Baitmate in the bag works. The mineral oil would probably work just as well too.
  22. I just used an old Stanley Glitter bladed SB last weekend. I don't remember them offering painted blades though. These are merely wedge blades with a clear coat over the glitter. Obviously they must have though.
