What is the "BIG KAHUNA"?
Sorry, I don't want to catch this, I don't want this anywhere near my boat. If this is what you long for.......well...... each to their own I guess.

where are the reels made
You're right Burley, my President spinning reels are made in China. Judging by how well they operate those sweat shop workers were trained right and they actually have quality control. Not sure I'd ever gnaw on the reel though, I'm sure the paint has lead in it.

Selling my dads boat.
This should go on the flea market board. It would also help if you listed your location.

where are the reels made
Fixed it for ya. The Pfluegers I own, Supremes, Summits and Patriarchs are made in Korea, as are the Garcia's. It's possible some of their cheaper reels are made in China but if you're going to buy cheap equipment, you'll be hard pressed to find anything American made. I have two Presidents - I dont really classify them as a "Cheap" reel, both of them I bought about 5 years ago and on the box is says "Made in China" Thanks for letting me know about Abu and the other Pfluegers I had no idea that abu went to korea, I have the older Abus and they say "Made in Sweden" hard to believe they let the company go to korea, its sad, very sad Why is it sad that Pure fishing moved most of the Garcia reel production to Korea from Sweden? Yours is an issue with perception. You perceive that because something is made there (sweden), it's of obvious quality which would be assuming something that isn't necessarily true. I and many other 5000 series round reel users saw the decline in quality of the Garcia rounds in the 80's. They were still made in Sweden but the internal parts were cheapened to keep the price point where it was back then. It's all about a company striving to build a quality product. From the engineering to the testing to the construction and QC and finally, the consumer end and satisfying them along with recognizing problems in the field and fixing them as they come along. While it would be great if more companies built reels here, it's obvious that the SE Asian sphere is just set up better to mass produce quality reels. It's really no different than the consumer electronics market. There hasn't been anything made in this country in well over 20 years.

Keeping the Storage Lids Open- What do you use?
I used pistons on the larger compartments but here's a neat little hinge that latches in the upright position. I put it on my smaller compartments though they're certainly strong enough to hold a larger door open. Pull the hinge at the joint and it collapses so you can close the lid. You can find these at Lowes in the door/cabinet hardware department. Home Depot probably has them too. There are right and left hand hinges available. IIRC, they were around $4 for each.

Need opinion on an eBay issue
OOps. I see you're in Canada. If the seller was in the US that can throw a wrench into things. If the item was large enough to be required to go through customs, that has been known to delay things. Contact the seller and find out what's going on. Get any tracking numbers and the number off the customs form if one was used.

Is This Right?
No, it's bent. .

Fishfinder/GPS combo question?
Tackle tour did a review on the 700 series SI Hummingbird. The SI feature is apparently pretty hard to decipher on the smaller screen vs the larger screen models. While that SI technology is pretty interesting, the price is just too high right now to justify spending that kind of money, at least for me anyway. Besides, I'd probably wind up driving around the lake half the day just looking at the sonar and not fishing. ;D

652 miles in 12 hours....on a river!
Until 1990, Bob Cox, former owner of Charger Bass boats held the record on the NO - St Louis Mississippi run, 1039 miles, of 20 hours and some change when he ran one of his 20 ft. Chargers with a 300hp OMC motor on the back in 1984. It was later beaten in 1990 by some guy in a turbine powered, off-shore boat by 8 hours. The locking through sure makes things interesting. That could really screw up your times. I don't know much about the locking procedures but a boat like his is the lowest on the totem pole when it comes to priorities as to who gets to lock through and when. I just re-read that 72 gallons of fuel on board! That's a floating gas tank.

Need opinion on an eBay issue
If you've waited a month you've waited way too long. If the seller shipped within a couple business days and used anything resembling Priority mail, UPS or Fed Ex, it should have been there. In the case of USPS, he/she should've used a delivery confirmation number. Not a tracking number but it will sometimes get scanned at regional transfer hubs and definitely get scanned when it gets delivered. UPS and Fed Ex have automatic tracking with their service. If they can't provide anything you need to file a claim.

Pitching Reel - Centrifugal or Magentic Braking
Revo S. Not much point in spending a bunch of money for something that isn't much more than a winch on a rod. The Revo has gobs of drag power. Find one used for around $60-70.

Woodstock - 40th anniversary
I was almost 12 then. The Flower power, summer of love, hippie, counter culture movement was mostly prevalent on the east and mostly west coast. It had barely made an impression in the middle of the country. Most of what I saw of it was on the news. The bands involved were only played on 1 radio station in town, it was considered something of a seedy station playing alternative, hippie music (40 years later, KSHE radio in St Louis is still the same playing great rock music). Just to show how much culture has changed, much of what went on at woodstock was considered somewhat shocking at the time yet 40 years later, a typical springbreak weekend at Panama City or Daytona beach see's just as much or more nudity, open sex and consuming of alcohol and drugs.

That I know of right now, Firefightin15, Leo and CWB. I'm sure there will be more.

Pitching Reel - Centrifugal or Magentic Braking
Yep. It's all in the spool tension. The spool never revolves enough for a mag brake to take effect nor is the start up inertia of the spool in a pitch cast enough to activate centrifugal brakes fully.

"Refurbished" LC's on Ebay
I see one guy bought at least 9 of them and left negative feedback on all of them. why did he spend over $50 on these without first trying one out first?

Warm Water Out of Motor
Well, a few things for starters. 1. If it's sunny out likes it's been the past couple months and I take the hose and hook it up to the OB and turn it on, the water coming out of it at first will be hot. A matter of the water left in the hose heating up. 2. The water is supposed to cool the engine down. Since the muffs can't supply as much water as say, running in a test tank, the engine will begin to overheat because of that. The water running through the engine, which isn't the same pressure on the muffs, gets hotter transferring the heat from the overheating block. 3. Run the OB too long and you're overheat alarm will turn on. There's nothing wrong with your OB.
