  1. Raleigh is in my opinion a goood choice. There are excellent lakes within less than an hour of the city. Kerr, gaston and falls to the north. Shearon harris to the south. Jordan and norman not to far on the west. Lots of rivers to the east
  2. I spool straight off the top of the spool. I didn't know your reels were brand new sorry. If you are spooling with the spool flat it will immediately start twisting in my experience.
  3. Thanx for the input I personally think it is pretty light. The tip gives just right.
  4. I purchased a st croix mojo bass crankbait rod a few months back and love it. I bought the 7' med-hev moderate tip. Does anyone have any experience with these rods? Did I make a good choice for the price at bass pro?
  5. I use Berkley Vanish 10# on my Tierra and it works fine. I use KVD Line and Lure conditioner also. Must be your bearing as mentioned above
  6. I believe everyone is talking about a flouro leader to braid not c-rig.
  7. Thanks to all.... I have not removed or added any of the spacer washers but I will check.. I plan on sending it back. Thanks again it just sucks I have never had problems with shimano reels
  8. My Saros is 2 months old and I have rarely used it. It was very quiet and smooth when I bought it. Now the bearings sound dry. It makes a scrubbing noise about every half turn of the handle and there is already oil coming out the housing. Do you think I should lube the reel or send it back before cracking the seal???
  9. I had a buddy who's 2-3 lber regurged a painted turtle the size of a half dollar its true they eat whatever moves
  10. For me deep cranking is 8-12 ft so 12# stren super knot green works good but when I fish a clear lake like gaston 8-10# "vanish" to really get it digging and hitting the grass early in the year
  11. Unless your fishing cover then I use power pro 30# braid in wood or any of the mentioned flouros in this forum for rock or in my case the occasional barnacle
  12. 12# stren super knot green- inexpensive and tough as h***
  13. Nothing wrong with vanish. I use palomar knot and 10 # vanish almost broke my hand 2 weeks ago and got the fish. 0nly 20 ft line out with mh spinning rod 6-6 no probs
  14. I agree I feel I can never reel to fast with my curado 5.0 : 1
  15. I really enjoy bps bionic blades. I think they are 79.99. Great deal
  16. Didn't want to bash anyone. I seem to have gotten some good spools. Can't stand the memory of it though. On my spinning gear I am gonna have to re- spool already definately gonna get seaguar
  17. Been using it for 3 yrs or better. Never had a break off. No kidding I have pulled big limbs down with 17 # and i even posted once before about the 40 + lb carp I foul hooked with 10 Lb vanish fishing a redeye shad. I fought him for 15 mins or better and got him to the boat and the redeye popped out of his skin. The line looked rough as hell but it didnt give. I use a single palomar knot and take my time to not cinch until it is right at the eye of the lure with no loops and a little saliva then pull it tight. It does have alot of memory problems on spinning gear though......
  18. Had another grreat day fishing yesterday with no breakoffs. I used 8 lb vanish and crossed ones eyes.. Right between the eyes - 3-O hook through the skull only 15 feet of line out and no problems. there is nothing wrong with berkley vanish. I guess opinions are like ***holes everyone has one. My hand is still hurting, I didnt hold back, I tryed to snap the line because everyone seems to have a problem with breaking it.. The dang line does have alot of memory now though.
  19. I own a couple tierra 2500's. Have had one for 3 yrs and the other 2 yrs with no problems. Caught lots of stripers this past winter when lg mouth were slow. Using 8 lb mono several were over 5 lbs. Had to rely on drag a lot and they never failed. Absolutely love them. Not to mention the "mudfish" slash bowfin that frequent our rivers. No problems with failing gears. I just purchased a shimano saros 2500f this past weekend and fell in love though. They are the same price. I like the tierras but probably gonna go shimano from here on out
  20. No problems with line twist with SeaGuar InvisX? I have been wanting to switch to flouro on my spinning. Been using braid 50# with 17# flouro leader for heavy cover and 8-10 # mono for everything else
  21. I have some older extremes, with centrifugel brake. I dont use them much because I have upgraded to shimano and abu, I cleaned one up two days ago, I did a complete teardown and after oil and grease it was like new. Just did another one the same way and the inner main bearing is still whining. I used revo oil and during the cast it still is making racket. I have 6 and at least 4 of them need new bearings I would like some info on your company please and did I read that correcrt about US REEL making bps reel?
  22. I was wondering if anyone could help me find after market bearings for bps extreme reels. I read that US REEL basically makes them is that true? I have all the I.D.'s and O.D.'s thanks
  23. That's what I was thinking. Looking at some of my shad raps like the sr 8's and 9's that cost $8 a pop I don't want to replace unless they are 8 ft under water
  24. Any suggestions on good cleaning products to touch up my cranks
  25. Never said they were the best, only they are good reels for $100. Everyone knows they aren't shimano or abu but the reel handle turns the same as all . They are a little noisier but the reel catches fish just the same. You don't need the top of the line to catch em. I wouldn't switch from my revos to extremes but if I had only a $100 to buy a baitcaster Etreme is at the top. I did bring in a carp I foul-hooked well over 40 lbs with one and the reel didnt flinch
