  1. You must have a lot of shallow areas throughout the pond. they are tough to get rid of.
  2. I have found any bait for LMB have worked for me with spotted bass.
  3. Does he squat over the side of the boat when he has to go??? ;D
  4. When your kids always ask Friday evening, "You going fishin' tomorrow , dad?"
  5. I would say drop shotting is a form of finesse fishing.
  6. No. C & R only.
  7. OK, I am taking my new boat out for the first time tomorrow. Going to hit a lake that is 110% capacity. (Gushing over the spillway) Water temp 60 degrees(2 day ago), calrity is 2-3 feet. It has shallow grassy areas, shallow rocky areas, humps, narrow channel areas and deep water. Been warming up to 85 the last two day. Expect sunny, clear skies. What bait set up would you advise. I have to have a great day for my first time out with the new boat!! Need all the help I can get! ;D :-/ :-/ ;D
  8. Great job, Peter! I like the color. Looks like a very proessional job! Now go out and catch that biggun!

My superstition is that anytime I catch a fish on my first cast, I am skunked the rest of the day. So what I do now is make a quick short first cast and reel in as quickly as I can, so as to not catch a fish.
  11. I found this interesting. I did a tally of who likes to fish alone / who likes to fish with someone else 50% OF THE TIME / Fish with someone else most of the time. Here's the tally: Fish alone: 22 50/50: 8 Fish with others: 12 Seems most of us like to fish alone. I wonder what that means? Most of the reponses for fishing alone had to do with our desire to fish how/where/when and for how long without the constraints of having to deal with someone else's patience.. A few who took others fihsing were taking kids. Others like the comradery of a fishing partner. Interesting!
  12. Great project. keep up the good work and keeep the picturs coming. You might want to plan ahead for wiring etc by using plastice conduit so it is easy to access and pull wires in the future. The stuff is cheap and light. Will the heads of the screws you've used intefere with being able to lay the platform plywood sheets down flat? Maybe use some beveled heads?? Great project. Please keep the pictures coming.
  13. Birds will actually take a minnow, etc from one pond , take off flying and accidentally drop them in other ponds. I have read this in numerous articles that birds will actually help stock ponds. Not in large numbers, but think about.. What if 50 small fish were dropped in a pond the first year. These fish get larger, reproduce and the number grow exponentially. Wallalll! After thinking about it, it really isn't too hard to understand or believe. Wouldn't take but a few years for a small pond to have a respectable population of fish.
  14. I see you are 15 right now. Well, welcome to the real world, son! A job is a good thing for many other reasons than just the money. It teaches responsibility, accountablity, how to manage time, how to manage your money, how to priorotize the important things in life.,...like fishing!
  15. How can they tell? Maybe I am missing something.
  16. It is a 115 EFI 4 Stroke.
  17. Amarillo.....I drove through Amarillo and stopped for breaksfast with my daughter when I was driving her to Cal. after she graduated from college. I have no desire to EVER go back through Amarillo. Talk about hell on earth. I could go on, but I understand Amarillo is home for some people.
  18. Anyone here have an hours meter in your boat? Is it worth installing? Cost? Also, how is it installed? Difficult? I ma fairly handy. I am thinking it might be a good idea just to keep track of the hours on my new Merc. Just wondering what you guys think. Thanks in advance? :-/
  19. Can anybody give me an idea how much (%) wise one could save on insurance if one was to take a boat safety class? That questions was asked if I had taken one, while getting an insurance quote for my new bass boat.
  20. This is a great question. My answer is; It depends. I would say 60-70% of the time I like to fish alone. It depends on the mood I'm in. There are times when I really have no desire to have anyone else around. This is when I really want to intensely fish. Other times, I will want to have another guy with me to have some comradery, and fun conversation. The thing is, if we goin my boat, I tend to be very accomodating to my guest. When this happens it does take away form my time fishing. I do like to take my college son with me. We get a chance to catch up. We also have a time to discuss world events and other things. You know, the bonding thing. It alos makes me feel real good when I can give him a piec of fishing advice and he nails one with it. What a great feeling!!
  21. When you get to the boat ramp and it is still pitch black outside. You get out to check out the situation and just stand there for a few minutes to listen to nothing but the silence. the sound of the birds and insects when you are the only perosn on the lake. The sound of loons up on a very northern lake. if you have never heard them, you don't know what you are missing. The sound of carp jumping (when you really wish it were bass jumping) Obviously, the sound a big smallie braking the surface and tail danicng on the water. The future sound of my new 115 Merc EFI starting up on the water for the first time! Now that's what I'm talkin' 'bout!
  22. Pintail, I too would suggest a check with an authorized repair shop. Regaridn your questions about doing things yourself, you might want to check ebay for a service manaul for your boat. Tehse are typically just sold to dealers and shops, but youc an find them. At least it will have a pretty good description of the thigns that can go wrong and you can see if they are easy enough for you to do, or take to a shop. Madhouse's suggestion about having the guy who sold you the boat go with you, is a good suggestion.
