  1. Well, the three guys were interviewed on ESPN this morning. I am even more convinced these are STAND UP guys. The scale was a Berkeley digital scale-high end. The lure was a white jig. They even interviewed one of the eyewitnesses from the shore. He said nothing but good things about how the three guys handled the situation as well as another witness. These guys are wells respected in the Lake DIxon area. Like it or NOT! I think it boils down to people not wanting a WR fish caught and something to trash these guys about. As far as not much information about this situation. That is just not true. It hit the national media the day it happened and has been growing ever since. PS: The scale was not a Zebco De-Liar!!! Fact is this fish was bigger that Perry's!!! No IF's and's or but's about it! PERIOD! PS: There was a poll taken by ESPN , 57% believe it should be considered the new WR.
  2. No offense taken, Abel. But I'm curious why it bothers you if OTHERS want to discuss it. ????? Nobody's forcing anyone else to read what they don't want to. Well, 1: there seems to be quite a bit of personal attacks against these guys, 2: The arguments about "certified" scales is getting old. My old spring loaded scale is within the difference of George Perrys catch and this new one. Unless there were weights put in thisfish, it is hard to argue the this fish doesn't weigh more. 3: catching the fish in the depth of water they were fishing makes it hard for me to believe they intentionally snagged it. (see #1 above) 4: I perceive a many do not WANT a new WR bass caught! Maybe protecting the WR fish from Georgia?? Also, some very negative feelings about fishermen in California. 5: The fact of the matter is this is a HUGE Fish! I do not doubt the fish weighed more than Perry's. It is a WR fish. Whether IFGA will not certify due to technicalities, is up to them. It doen not negate the fact it is bigger than Perry's. When all is said and done. You are right. That is what this forum is for; for discussion about fishing. It is exciting that there is so much excitment about a New WR catch. I just don't like all the negative atacks and diversionary arguments about why it shouldn't be a WR. It seems disingenuous. Marty, that is why I have had enough. But you guys do have the right to carry on the discussion. So Blast away!
  3. Congrats RR!!! I am very happy for you! Retired, good paying new career, probably a little more time to fish! Don't forget to spend a little more time with the misses!
  4. I don't want to offend ANYONE on this forum. But, I think enough has been said about whether or not the recent catch at Dixon Lake is a World Record or not. GIVE IT UP!!! GEEEESH! It is either a WR or it's not. IT is what it is. As far as whther or not the scale was certified is a pretty weak argument. Why don't they just weigh out 25.1 pounds of weights on a "certified" scale and then take that same weight and put it on the scale they used. Maybe it was off a few ounces....BFD!!!! It would still be a WR catch! Whether they did everything legitimately or not, so be it. The fact is the fish was huge, 99.99999% chance it beat Perry's record. Now whether the IFGA wants to certify it or not due to technicalities is up to them. It would still be a WR. Let's move on! : :
  5. I think I am more apt to believe a digital scale actually weighing the fish than someone sitting thousands of miles away saying 20-21 pounds. But that's just me. Besides I don't get all the slamming of this guy. Hell, he's a fisherman just like we are. The guy obviously has had much success in the past and is well known fisheman in the area. Give him a break!l
  6. A new 2006 runs around $22K. (plus dealer prep, shippoing and sales tax, an additional $2600 altogether) Not set on aluminum, but for the money I don't know what quality I could get in fiberglass. Not set on brand new, would consider a good used one.
  7. http://www.fisherboats.com/boat/index.cfm?boat=1804 Madhouse, here is a link to the boat. I hope I did it right LOL! Not much different than 2006.
  8. What make and model 18 foot fiberglass would you advise for the money?
  9. MattFly, What do you suggest, throw those ol boys in jail because they "retained" a Friggin World Record bass to take some pictures and weigh it...??
  10. I have been looking for a new boat for some time now. I think I am getting close. One offer is below. I came across a dealer with a brand new 2004 (never used) Fisher Pro Hawk 180 (18'1") New 115 HP 4 Stroke EFI Mercury standard Motorguide 46# thrust 42" shaft Lowarance x-47 FF Nice trailer too, painted .steel fenders, chrome wheels along with all the standard boat features, ie, livewell, two batteries, etc. You know the drill ..... Because they still have it in stock, they are willing to sell for $18, 900 out the door. (Includes sales tax, prep, shipping, etc. That is an out the door price. What do you guys think of the offer???
  11. From what an eyewitness said, there were a few people around them that saw that he had foul hooked it.......could be why he 'fessed up and said something, could just be an honest guy......who knows.Who cares? What a fish! And if his scales were "ON",it went 25 even on them. Ditto! I am giving this guy the benefit of the coubt. Sounds like he's an upstanding guy. If he was not, he probably would have tried to get the fish certified. I don't understand why so many barbs are being thrown at this guy. I know I have fould hooked fish before without purposely trying to do it. If the guy was a scumbag, you can bet he would trying to get this receognized as the WR. My thoughts anyway. But then I try to look at the good in people first.
  12. I have seen the new boats come with a somewhat low end FF at the steering wheel location. But I also have seen guys put higher end FF there as well. How do you guys like to locate your fish finders and why; assuming you have one at the wheel and one up front. High end FF upfront or at the wheel? Low end at the wheel or up front? I am curious as to how you locate them and why. Thanks! :-/
  13. I haven't caught my personal best yet! ;D ;D ;D It's coming this year!
  14. OK, good idea, LBH!! 5 #'er I would be pleased with that!
  15. As much as I hate to say this, you are right! BUT, I'll still fish for both!
  16. Well, well, well........... After 30 years of marriage, my wife is happy that I go fishing and is always pushing me to fish whenever I can. It think it gets down to her pragmatic thinking; It could be a lot worse, I could be out doing the bar scene, or chasing other women. BigTex, I would suggest a heart to heart with your wife. Let her know your other passion (other than her) is fishing. Let her know you love her, and that it could be worse. You could be out until the wee hours of the night drinking and carousing. The other suggestions are good, ie. doing little things for her like washing her car, etc. But if you truly desire to stay in fishing, you need to let her know, that fishig is here to stay. Take or leave it. See if she wants to go with you and maybe she will see the reason you like to fish so much. Any way you cut it, I have to assume your fishing is here to stay, now find out if she is......... AND>>>>>> If that doesn't work, see Roadwarriors plan and make sure you have a cable tv outlet in the garage! ;D ;D
  17. We happen to have two cats in our household. One cat is about 14 yrs old and the other is about 8 months. I have noticed a big difference in them. The younger cat is always frisky. He is always wanting attention. He is alwyas running around getting into trouble., Clawing furniture, jumping on the counters, playfully attackingn the older cat., etc. The older cat is more quiet, calmer, only moves when necessary (to eat, crap, and when he wants some attention from me) and the older cat is very WISE! I got to thinking today that younger bass are probably alot like a younger cat; more curious, more active, willing to chase down just about anything, therefore getting into more trouble., ie,getting caught. Older bass, move less, don't exert any energy unless absolutely necessary, and very wise. Much harder to get them excited. I just thought the similarities were curiously funny, so I thought OI would share my observation. Next time I go fishing I am going to think about the older cat! ;D
  18. LBH, you must have one BIG of a ............................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................Livewell! LOL ;D ;D ;D ;D
  19. Was there a tournament going on that fay on the lKe?
  20. To cast heavy bass flies, use the Weight Forward type line. Line is more weighted in front, and makes for easier cating the heavy flies. It's a blast!
  21. JT, Do you ever plan on making out to california? Maybe the Sacramento area?
  22. Ditto! LBH, What can I say??? A woman like that that likes to fish and good looking too! WOW!! Don't tell me...she proabbly kicked you @$$ so many times in fishing that you questioned your manhood??? LOL ;D ;D ;D Nah, just Kidding. Glad you are still best of friends!

Avid, for good temporary relief forget Tylenol and Advil. Try Aleve! I had a pain in my shoulder for years, finally went to the doctor. He told me to take Aleve. Problem solved forever! Read the directions, though.
  24. I would go fishing when I wanted, and tell my wife, "I'll be back, when I get back.....if I come back" Then I would go fishing, come home after dark the first night,, drive by the house to see if my clothes were scattered about the front yard. If not, go home and act like nothing happened. ....But that's just me!
