  1. I did not ask about a loaner. If I did, I was afraid they would think that I knew there was no way I was getting my boat on Friday and the pressure was off. I want the pressure ON. If I need a loaner I may ask for it, but wanted to wait and see what I hear.
  2. Thanks Madhouse. Somehow I knew I woulod hear from you today ;D Well, first of all, I looked at all of the posts from the folks who responded to this and made my "Talking Points" No foolin. Thanks guys they were all good. Basically, let them know that I was not upset with them (dealer) but I did expect quick service and expected them to work in my regard with mercury if it gets to that point. I told them if it was simple and easy, fix it. If it was major, to slap a new motor on it. I told them I wanted to pick it up Friday afternoon because I have 3 days of fishing this weekend (wife out of town for week and a half, and I ain't staying home) I went on and told them the reason I bought new was to avoid these problems. They suggested 115 Hp Merc and I took their recommendation. I was initially thinkig a 60HP. I told them this is the reason I buy Honda and Toyota's for my cars. He reminded me the power head on the Merc is made by Yamaha...oops! Told them, I paid $19K for a new boat and with under 10 hrs I don;t expect to be jerked around. They said the boat is going right in for repair. I told the service mgr, i would call him tomoorw morning and find out what time I can expect to pick it up on Friday. And oh by the way, there a case of beer in a cooler iced down in the boat for the boys in the shop! ;D Talk to you tomorrow" So we'll see tomorrow what they have found the damage to be. They did say it could just be some Plugs or gaskets..... We'll see. I really hope I don't need to get into it with Mercury. If I do, I may call upon my friends at BassResource.com to send them emails. Thanks for asking! I 'll let you know what I find out
  3. Frankly, I wouldn't worry about it. It sounds like you do a good job of keeping it as dry as possible. It si going to get wet, it's a boat. But if you let it dry out before covering, you should be ok. The deck is treated because the manufacturer expects it to get wet. You are not anal. You are like me. My wife thinks I am anal! ;D
  4. I would not put those motors on a jon type boat. Lot of work for what type of payback? To get you in the weedy areas? Well you can do that with TM's. Do you really have that many weedy areas that would require this type of set up. Seems a little crazy to me, but I've had some pretty crazy ideas in the past myself!
  5. WHAT AN AWESOME IDEA!!!!!!!!!!!! 8-) 8-)
  6. Before I bought my new bass boat, that is the exact boat I owned. I had a 4HP/4stroke Nissan on it. If you read more into the boat, it is the weight that is the issue. It is a very decent boat. very stable for the size (tri hull). I also had a 43 # Tm on the bow. Great little boat.
  7. Offer him $800. Then he'll come back at 850 (split the difference) then take it and start fishing!
  8. It would probably be easier to say who I wouldn't want to fish with. Frankly, can't think of who that would be. SO I guess I would like to fish with everyong on the forum.
  9. Sorry Madhouse I appreciate all the input guys! Yeah, the more time I have to think about this, the more ticked I get! It will be an interesting discussion when I take it in.
  10. Kinda what I AM THINKING RIGHT NOW!
  11. Yeah, I already went to the dealer this afterrnoon. Talked to the co-owner. The service dept. wasn't open today (Sunday) so I have to take it back. He said he woudl do what he could to get me in and out as soon as possible, etc. But he said depending on how bad it was, it could be anywhere from a few days to 6 weeks depending on parts, etc. I about threw up! I told him I needed it back this Friday. I fish every weekend. Have less than 10 hrs on the motor. What a bummer is right! :'( :'(
  12. I was out yesterday, adn I thought the motor sounded just a bit different than normal. When I got home, I checked the oil. It was all milky and way up on the dipstick. I am geting ready to take to the dealer for service (Big pain in the A$$)!! Anyone have this happen and what is the most likely cause of this? I can't think of anything I might have done to cause this problem.
  13. I prefer a bass boat. Get from point a to B alot quicker, more space to walk around, more storage for all the baits.
  14. Exactly what K Mac said!
  15. When I fish with my fishin buddy we talk a little. Neither are big talkers. When I fish with my son, we talk a little in spurts. Nice way for each of us to get caught up, but mostly we don't talk too much. Now when I fish with myself, i do talk to myself. "oooo, this is a nice one", "What the hell just happened?", Oh, you mother#$%^&*, just took my bait!", you know that kind of talk! ;D Besides, when I talk to myself, I am always right!
  16. On the water by 6:00-6:30. Off by noon -1:00.
  17. do a google search on "repairing fiberglas boat hulls"
  18. 2005 Toyota FourRunner, 6 cyl 4.0 Liter.
  19. I had the same problem last week on my new boat. I was in about 10'water and the thing is reading 111'. When i got home I noticed the transponder and been kicked up and not level. I then remembered when that probably happened. I had drifted into some brush while fishing and from then on it started acting up. Anyway, check the transponder...hope it is that simple for you!
  20. Camp Far West -30 min. Lake Clementine - 35 mins Lake ENglebright - 1hr Lake Oroville - 1 hr. 30 min
  21. Avid, obvioulsy, you are too concerned about catching that 8 pounder. And everytime you go out and don't catch one, you get more frustrated and then start questioning why you are going fishing. And this snowballs..... Then you get to the point where you are just fed up with it all. Well, I would suggest you stop thinking about that 8 pounder. Everytime you go out think of it as doing Research on big bass, not that you are trying to catch annything, just doing research. It's like so many times for me, when I think about something too long it never happens., WHen I slip and I am not thinking about it, it happens!! Make fishing fun again. Remember you retired to have fun, not fish any tournaments. Don't make the 8 pounder a tournament unto yourself.
  22. I have gone through the same feelings before. I felt guilty and mad at myself because I know fishing is my passion. It's like I felt I was cheating someone, ....myself. I would suggest, trying out some new lakes and some new techniques to just spice it up a llittle bit. Yesterday I fished a new lake, Lake Oroville, first time wiht my new boat on it. I had been fishing a locl lake lately but had little success, water is still a little ccol. So I headed to Oroville. Caught 8 decent spotted bass, and a 15# carp. Once I knew I had a carp, I thought, oh $#*^. But then thought, waht the hell, might as well enjoy it. It gave me a good fight and some memoey to enjoy later as well! Maybe you want to take up photography so when you go fishing you can take sokme spectacular photso as well. Trust me, this will pass!!
  23. I am hoping Mercury is, seeings how I just bought a new 115 EFI with my new boat!
