Your color is fine. #5's for regular bass; #7's for all bass. Larger sizes for larger fish. Throw all year. Great baits for lakes and rivers.

You will have to experiment but to give you my thoughts: Shakey Head with a Zoom Junebug trick worm and a 1/8 ounce jig head with a strong hook. Wacky Rigged Senko, numbers 194 or 297, depending on water color. KVD Square Bill 1.5 Sexy Shad crankbait. White and Black Buzzbaits. Whopper Plopper in Monkey Butt. White/Chartreuse Spinnerbait with two silver or gold Willow blades depending on water color. Use the lightest line you feel confident. Use a medium heavy rod with a fast tip if you have one. Throw over and over at the timber. Don't give up after five or six casts. Keep throwing the baits at the timber. At least 10 for each area you are casting. Have the crankbaits strike the timber and bounce off. Work the topwaters around the timber. Throw the Shakey Head and Senkos into the timber. Let us know what you threw and if you got any bites and what you caught.

Hey Brian, just saw your post. How did you do no One Fish Anna if you ventured down this way on Saturday? And I have no reports on the ice on the lake. Next time you venture down to One Fish Anna call Anna Point Marina and ask them about the water conditions and launching from their ramp.

Sorry to report that the third day of the tournament was cancelled due to poor weather conditons and Nolan and Casey ended up in 39th place, missing the cut. Had the tournament completed the three days I am sure Nolan and Casey would have made the National Championship tournament. The team from Wisconsin that won the event lucked out and caught a 10-pounder to give them a four ounce victory over Louisiana Monroe. I know everyone on the Forum are proud of our Nolan and how well he and Casey did on a foreign body of water with all those Cajuns watching him.

Nolan and Casey are up to 37th place, one pound from being in the 29th position. They had a great day 2 and have a total of 25-8 for both days. Wisconsin-Platteville jumped into first place via their big fish, pushing Louisiana Monroe down to second. I have no idea if Nolan and Casey made the cut but I know we all hope they did. Geaux Nolan and Casey!!!!!

Nolan and his partner are in 69th place with four bass for 8-8 on the first day. Leader is a team from Louisiana Monroe with five fish for 20-13. There must be over 250 fishing the tournament so 69th place is pretty darn good. Bandit square bills that run six-feet on 8 pound fluorocarbon. Use clip or snap to connect to crankbait's eye. Sexy Shad color. On baitcaster or spinning rig, your choice. Check for knicks, cuts and line damage plus check your knot after each fish and if not catching anything about each 15 to 20 casts. Bandit as they are less expensive than other crankbaits. Second choice are Rapala Shad Raps on spinning rig with 8 pound fluorocarbon. Don't forget your needle nose pliers.

Great having you with us. Get some beignets, a hunk of Cochon-de-Lait, some crawfish, a little etouffee, some grillades, a bowl of gumbo, a shot of jambalaya and put all in your pirogue and do some serious eating and bass fishing. Laissez Les Bons Temps Rouler!!!! Have a fun Mardi Gras.

Anyone on the Forum heading to south Louisiana for Mardi Gras in New Orleans? Great bass fishing and you can have some extra fun by going on a redfish charter. This guy had a great time back in the 60's at the Mardi Gras.

Bring a white cap or a cap with white on it. You can also get some caps at the Expo but some, like Raymarine and Mercury and black. I think a sharpie would work. There may be a table with some of the Elite pros who have their own pens. But you need one in case you run into a pro, Glenn, Big-O, and various exhibitors like the guys at Berkley if they are there. No telling who you will see and you may want their autograph.

Gotta love those grand-kids … Back in 2015 I was eating breakfast with my 10-year-old Granddaughter and I asked her, "what day is tomorrow?" Without skipping a beat she said, "It's Presidents Day!" She's smart, so I asked her "What does Presidents Day mean?" Backpack should be fine. Remember to bring a special pen so the pros you meet can sign your cap. Look for the lines that form when a pro starts giving away stuff, too. Get in line and see what you get. Have fun!

I was thinking the same thing. Maybe it is a good idea to cull out some of the smaller bass to allow the ones remaining to grow larger. Of course, if the locals decimate the fish population by not understanding pond management techniques there is nothing you can do. Lake Locinvar, a local pond in my neighborhood, was crushed by people taking the bass home. Since these individuals ruined the pond for fishing, they don't come around anymore. We also had a problem with the poachers catching and killing the beautiful flathead catfish at the Pony Pasture area in the Historic James River. The one City of Richmond park manager could not keep up with them so he finally called in the police. The police asked everyone fishing for their licenses for about a month and for some unknown reason, the poachers disappeared. Still can't figure that one out. Glad they are gone.

BE CAREFUL....... NOT ALL THIEVES ARE STUPID 1. LONG - TERM PARKING Some people left their car in the long-term parking at San Jose while away, and someone broke into the car. Using the information on the car's registration in the glove compartment, they drove the car to the people's home in Pebble Beach and robbed it. So I guess if we are going to leave the car in long-term parking, we should NOT leave the registration/insurance cards in it, nor your remote garage door opener. This gives us something to think about with all our new electronic technology. 2. GPS: Someone had their car broken into while they were at a football game. Their car was parked on the green which was adjacent to the football stadium and specially allotted to football fans. Things stolen from the car included a garage door remote control, some money and a GPS which had been prominently mounted on the dashboard. When the victims got home, they found that their house had been ransacked and just about everything worth anything had been stolen. The thieves had used the GPS to guide them to the house. They then used the garage remote control to open the garage door and gain entry to the house. The thieves knew the owners were at the football game, they knew what time the game was scheduled to finish and so they knew how much time they had to clean out the house. It would appear that they had brought a truck to empty the house of its contents. Something to consider if you have a GPS - don't put your home address in it. Put a nearby address (like a store or gas station) so you can still find your way home if you need to, but no one else would know where you live if your GPS were stolen. 3. CELL PHONES: I never thought of this! This lady has now changed her habit of how she lists her names on her cell phone after her handbag was stolen. Her handbag, which contained her cell phone, credit card, wallet, etc., was stolen. Twenty minutes later when she called her hubby, from a pay phone telling him what had happened, hubby says, "I received your text asking about our Pin number and I've replied a little while ago." When they rushed down to the bank, the bank staff told them all the money was already withdrawn. The thief had actually used the stolen cell phone to text "hubby" in the contact list and got hold of the pin number. Within 20 minutes he had withdrawn all the money from their bank account. Moral lesson: a. Do not disclose the relationship between you and the people in your contact list. Avoid using names like Home, Honey, Hubby, Sweetheart, Dad, Mom, etc. b. And very importantly, when sensitive info is being asked through texts, CONFIRM by calling back. c. Also, when you're being texted by friends or family to meet them somewhere, be sure to call back to confirm that the message came from them. If you don't reach them, be very careful about going places to meet "family and friends" who text you. 4. PURSE IN THE GROCERY CART SCAM: A lady went grocery-shopping at a local mall and left her purse sitting in the children's seat of the cart while she reached something off a shelf/ Wait till you read the WHOLE story! Her wallet was stolen, and she reported it to the store personnel. After returning home, she received a phone call from the Mall Security to say that they had her wallet and that although there was no money in it, it did still hold her personal papers. She immediately went to pick up her wallet, only to be told by Mall Security that they had not called her. By the time she returned home again, her house had been broken into and burglarized. The thieves knew that by calling and saying they were Mall Security, they could lure her out of her house long enough for them to burglarize it.

I will be pulling for the Eagles but I think the Pats will prevail.
