Its A Rivian!!!
I was at a stop light on Midlothian Turnpike in Chesterfield County, Virginia this weekend, and noticed a good looking vehicle called a "Rivian." I had never heard of this vehicle so today I looked it up on the Internet and here is the link. https://rivian.com/support/vehicles This is an electric vehicle. Looks good. But I have no idea about how this electric car operates and how long before the batteries die or catch on fire. Just thought you guys would like to know about the Rivian.

Prespawn in Richmond is yielding some results
RVA, it is your decision to fish for the big bass while on her bed. If you do and you succeed catching her, please take an iPhone photo and weigh her fast and release her back into the pond. And rememver, you do not want to place her on the grass, if at all possible, as it will remvoe the protective slime on her body and she may get an infection and pass away after you release her. So think about holding her on the scale as fast as you can, get her weight, take an iPhone photo and then estimate her length and girth. This means you have to be organized and know where your scale and iPhone is on your body for fast recovery. Good luck and please post that pic for all of us to see. This could be your personal best to date, too!

Best glue for gluing eyes back lure
It will last for a while, although it has a tendence to crack and chip off from hiting things. So run your finger over the crankbait and feel for cracks and then reapply if you wish.

Just a suggestion: try going with a baitcaster setup and throw a Bomber Fat Free Shad in the color and size of your choice (depending on water clarity and depth) and see if it improves your catch-ratio. Buck bass are starting to move up to the bedding areas and if you can locate where they are stopping along the route for a beer you can really have some fun. Let us know how you do. Good luck. Be safe.

Best glue for gluing eyes back lure
X2 Use Hard as Nails for other fishing applications, like painting it over any coloring you are using on your crankbaits. Only problem is asking a young clerk in the drug store if they have Hard as Nails and you notice the funny look on their face.

The Value of Herbs
My wife and I have a concerige doctor and he believes in herbal medicines, vitamins, and minerals to keep you healthy. One of the physicians in his practice penned the following in their monthly newsletter that I thought was interesting. Here is what dr. Febish penned: A WORD FROM DR. FEBISH Dia duit (dee-ahgwit) (Irish Gaelic) Greetings! I really love the month of March, the celebration of St. Patrick’s Day and the Celtic people who have a rich history in herbalism. They brought many spices and herbs for healing to grow in this country. My family was a part of the clans that were considered botanist, herbalist and healers in Ireland. Many generations of cooks in Ireland used common herbs and spices in their dishes for top notch taste with the following health benefits. Caraway seeds – A remedy for colic and digestive issues. Thyme – This herb may help with bacterial and fungal infections. It may also relieve coughing and has antioxidant effects. Parsley – A powerful diuretic and can help reduce bloating and high blood pressure. Rosemary – This herb is good for learning, memory, anxiety, mood balancing and sleep. Sage – May help with menopausal symptoms and lower blood pressure and blood sugar levels. It is said to support memory and brain function, may lower cholesterol and protects against certain cancers. Bon Appétit

Will the world record small mouth be broken?
Yes, the record will be broken this year but the guy who will catch it did not realize it was a world record and he let it go without either weighing it or taking a photo.

if you come across a fisherman struggling..do you help?
Yes, all the time. Showed a neighborhood boy how to rig his Senko wacky style and found out a few weeks later from his friend that he caught a four-pounder out of the pond on the "new" rig. Showed a friend how to set up a Chatterbait and he caught a beautiful lady at a local pond on his third cast. I don't know if he or the fish were the most surprised!

Wind direction?
When the wind blows from the east, the Chickahominy River in Virginia shuts down. The Chick is a tidal river and therefore, a strong wind can back up the tide and not let it come in or go out.

Wheres The Fish?
My son gave me a great, lightweight sweatshirt with -Where's The Fish - writen and abbreviated on the front. I only wear it around the house as it is not appropriate to wear in public other than at fishing tournaments. On Sunday, I had it on and decided to go to the post office to check the company's mail box since it was Sunday and no one would be at the post office so I could not offend anyone. So what happened? On the way to the post office, there were six girl scouts and their mothers set up in the homeowners association swimming pool parking lot and as I drove by I saw the signs they were holding up for Girl Scout Cookies. I waived as I went by and decided to stop by on the way home. Of course, who do you think forgot he was wearing the Where's The Fish sweatshirt? And who do you think realized it after parking and walking to the tables with the cookies? I tried to cover the writing as best as I could, but it was easy to read what it said as it was all over the front of the sweatshirt. I do not believe neither the mothers or girls gave it a second look, as far as I know, other than one mother who took a long look at the wording. I secured three boxes of Carmel De-Lites (Samoas) and scooted back to the car as fast as I could go. Oh well, I tried.

How many lipless cranks too many?
No, you are not nuts. Do you have all of the Frittsides colors and sizes? All the KVD Red-Eyed Lipless Crankbaits? What about increasing your Shad Raps #'s 5 and 7 with all colors and then adding in some #8's and 9's. YOU NEVER HAVE ENOUGH BAITS. Keep on expanding your collection!

More Neighbor issues…
Wow! So sorry to read about everyone's neighbor hood adventures. We are so lucky to have our new neighbors. A great family of four super kids and a father that is a good guy and a mother who works her fanny off with the kids, husband and two dogs. Our old neighbors had two girls who stayed inside all the time; he was a music professor at VCU and had his wife mow the grass as the lawn mower's noise hurt his hearing; and they were some what off center so I named them the Addams Family, and each had their own name. This new family who moved in a year ago is a lot of fun and we don't complain about all the toys and contractors' supplies and equipment the father has all over the place, on their property and on our property. He hunts behind our house and has a garden at the back of our field. In fact, we let them put up a Zip-Line on our trees so the kids could have a fun time with it. I guess my wife and I need to count our blessings as our neighbors are really great!

Heat Pump Repairs
I had an interesting situation that finally will be corrected today or tomorrow by our heat pump contractor. My wife owns a rental house and the property manager was contacted in October, 2022, by the renters that the air condioning system was not working. So the property manager and I went to the dwelling to meet "Mario" from our HVAC contractor's company to add coolant, make repairs to the unit, and check it out. The problem became apparant when Mario tried to remove the refregerant cap, which he could not do as it has a locking device on it and neither me, our rental agent, the renters, or my wfe had the key. In fact, no one knew a key was needed to unlock the cap. (Note: in defense of the unit manufacturer and installation HVAC contractor, the federal government has rules regarding refrigerants and your service guy has to have passed the test to be qualified to refill the HVAC units. Guys in the construction indusutry know more about this than I do so your input is requested. My HAVAC guy and his assitant are certified to replace the coolant but no one would sell them the key) I contacted three or four HVAC suppliers and none would sell a key to me or to my HVAC contractor to open the unit to add coolant. I finally found a wholesaler in Fredericksburg, Virginia that had the key but they would not sell it to me since neither me or my HVAC contractor are the manufacturer's rep. I called the HVAC contractor who installed the unit four years ago and his office told me 1) they did not have a key in their office and 2) they could not find any such key on any of their trucks. So it was back to square one. Then, in January of this year, we recieved a ValPac advertising envelope in the mail and the vice president of the original HVAC installation company had a flyer in it and on the flyer was the Vice President's smiling photo saying what great service his company gives its customers. So what did I do? I sent him a nice letter explaining what was going on and told him that I could not believe the HVAC unit manufacturer did not have keys to unlock the refregerant cap nor did his company have a key, since they installed the unit and never told anyone that a key was needed to properly sevice the unit. Today I sent the vice president a nice follow up email asking if his company had the opportunity to replace the cap with one that did not need a key and he replied that they had replaced the original cap with one that did not need a key. What bothers me is that the manufacturer knew the cap needed a key; the installing HVAC contractor knew the unit needed a key; and both lied to me about having the key unitl I contacted the vice president of the HVAC contractor company. This was done so that anyone having a new HVAC unit installed would have to use the installation contractor for future service and repair. No reason to threaten the HVAC company with the release of this story in the local Richmond community. However, it is a sad commentary on this one HVAC contractor who would rather lie about the key than to do their job and help a customer with a problem they and the manufacturer caused. Your thoughts???

Rare Bass caught in James River near Jamestown Ferry
My friend caught this "Gold Bass" on the Historic James River. He told me that he was informed by Virginia Department of Wildlife that "Gold Bass" do exist and they have a problem with pigment. I have never heard of a "Gold Bass." Anyone out there know of these mutations and have you caught one?

A local golf course pond. Great fishing. Lots of three-pounders. No more fishing on Mondays when the club is closed. Bummer.

Lunch After Golf
Two guys grow up together, but after college one moves to Georgia and the other to Texas. They agree to meet every ten years in Florida to play golf. At age 32 they meet, finish their round of golf and head for lunch. "Where you wanna go?" "Hooters." "Why Hooters?" "They have those servers with the big boobs, the tight shorts and the gorgeous legs." "You're on." At age 42, they meet and play golf again. "Where you wanna go for lunch?" "Hooters." “Why Hooters?” "They have cold beer, big screen TVs, and side action on the games." "OK." At age 52 they meet and play again. "So where you wanna go for lunch?" "Hooters. "Why?" "The food is pretty good and there's plenty of parking." "OK." At age 62 they meet again. After a round of golf, one says, "Where you wanna go?" "Hooters." "Why?" "Wings are half price and the food isn't too spicy." "Good choice" At age 72 they meet again. Once again, after a round of golf, one says, "Where shall we go for lunch?" "Hooters." "Why?" "They have six handicapped parking spaces right by the door and they have senior discounts." "Great choice." At age 82 they meet and play again. After playing, one says, "Where should we go for lunch?" "Hooters." "Why?" "Because we've never been there before." "Okay, let's give it a try.

What is The Best Glass Cranking Rod?
Everyone will have their opinion to opine about the best deep crankbait rod on the market. Personally, I like my old All Star Heavy but they are out of production, replaced by All Star Lite. You can go to your favorite tackle shop and get a feel of the heavy rods for deep cranking, even try the ones that you are not interested in purcasing. Bring the reel you will be using and put it on the rods to see how they feel and are balanced. I like to touch and feel the rods that I purchase unless I am going to go with a G. Loomis as I know the brand and quality so I can order it on the Internet without any problems. There are a lot of deep cranking rods for sale on ebay in your price range. Just make sure you read the rod's paramaters regarding line test and bait weight to make sure the rods you like have the power to handle deep strikes and fighting the fish. Good luck and let us know what you decide to purchase.

X2. I totally agree. Add coyote and you have a best seller. You can go on TV and radio telling everyone what a sensational buy this is. Good thinking.
