Was thinking of skipping a half ounce jig under docks. Do you think the dobyns Champion XP DC 610 4C is the way to go? I have a Kistler that I use for frog fishing. It is one big powerful rod. Thanks for the input. I will check it out.

Hey Catt, looks really good for Mardi Gras season.

Left the house at 3 AM to go to the Rappahannock River for a club tournament and while sitting in line with other boaters waiting to hit the ramp one of the other boaters walked up to me and said, "Sir, you are dragging something behind your boat." When I walked to the back of the boat there was my orange extension cord that I used to charge the batteries. It had been torn in half. I had forgotten to unplug it from the boat and I dragged it 25 miles to the ramp. I keep it wrapped around the rear cleat when parked and charging the batteries so there was no damage to the Ranger. When I got home I looked for damage to my garage door and house but nothing I could see other than the remaining part of the orange extension cord in the driveway. Felt like a real dummy but now I always unplug the extension cord when I leave home.

Scaleface, let me add to my comments above. I learned from Woo Daves to fish the outside of any cover first and then go inside. By doing this you can catch any fish that are on the outside of the cover and not spook the bass that are inside the cover or by the bank. I will throw crankbaits, etc. to the outside followed by my plastics. Then follow up with my plastics by going to the inside of the cover. Just how I approach a laydown or a log.

None of the above. My David Fritts Crankbait rod is the best one I have. It outperforms my G. Loomis crankbait rod. Go figure?

1. A bait that gives off vibrations. 2. A bait that is dark, like a brown or black color. 3. A bait that has some chartreuse in it if not the entire bait. You just got to experiment when the water is chocolate milk.

As stated above, it depends. Sometimes I will pitch and flip to a target 20 to 25 times because I just believe there is a bass somewhere in the target area. Other times I say "screw it" and just move on after five casts to a target. Too many variables involved to have one overall pattern for every situation: Wind, water color, water temperature, cold front moved through yesterday, sunny or cloudy, type of structure, its depth, my attitude at the time, and the type of bait I am throwing all play a role in how many times I throw to a specific target within a target. It takes time on the water to figure out an answer to your question.

Hey guys. If any one is thinking of fishing out of Eastland Creek on Kerr Lake (Buggs Island) the ramp was damaged by the high winds this past weekend. No telling when the Corps will have the ramp repaired and will open it for use. Bummer. ‎

X2 or bring it back to where you purchased it for a new one on an even trade. Something is definitely wrong and I agree with the pinion as your first issue but a baitcaster is a very complex piece of machinery and you may need to send it to Delaware Valley Tackle or a local guy who repairs reels. Be sure to have anyone who repairs your reel use new grease with some graphite in it. If you do nothing you could tear up the plastic gears inside the reel. Circle around and let us know what you find out and what was done to make the repair.

Clemson dentist, I just figured out your problem. You can throw any plastics you want Texas, Shakey Head, Drop Shot or Tokyo rigged, etc. as long as you yell "Geaux Tigers!" Not Go Tigers. It's Geaux Tigers!!!! Now go out there and try some different rigs and baits and let us know how your Texas rigs do as compared to the other presentations you throw.

You throw it when the bass hits and misses your buzzbait or Whopper Plopper at the exacts spot where hit occurred. The bass thinks it wounded the topewate and will hit your Senko. You lead with your plastics at any time, especially in creeks, rocks, piers, docks, brush piles, wood, Cypress trees, logs, mouths of smaller creeks entering larger creeks and the list goes on.

Using snaps helps you change baits fast and efficiently, especially in tournaments. Easier to tie your favorite knot on a snap then a split ring. I use a size that I can easily snap open and close. Go to your local tackle shop and look a the selections and the sizes available and which ones you believe you can open and close, easily. PRO SECRET: Buzzbaits and spinnerbaits have open ended places to tie your line. If you are using a snap for these two presentations I suggest you go to a lawn and garden center tractor repair shop and ask them to sell you a foot of yellow fuel line for riding mowers. Check the size of the hole to make sure it fits over the ends. Take a buzzbait and spinnerbait with you so you can figure out which size of fuel line is best. Cut the yellow fuel line into a number of small 1/16 +/- sections and place them over the ends of the buzz baits and spinnerbaits. You can now use a snap when throwing these baits as the yellow tubing will hold your snap in place and not let it run up the wire and foul your presentation. I keep my cut fuel line tubings in an old Rx pill container or on the buzzbaits and spinnerbaits in their tackle boxes. Just a small suggestion to make life easier when fishing.

Welcome to the Forum. My wife gave up many years ago and lets me do what I want for my bass fishing exploits. She even supported me in getting three large metal cabinets for the garage to put all of my baits and tackle. She has stopped complaining about all the rods and reels I have, too. So there is nothing wrong with you that another rod and reel can't fix.

I believe it usually starts in the middle of February. I have not received any announcement or flyer to date, February 7, 2020. All I can add is to keep looking for the announcement in this Forum, your mailbox, or on TV/radio.
