  1. I checked the price of the new Plano boxes and they are expensive. Great idea. Very interesting concept. May ask my wife to get one for one of my Christmas gifts this year. Or two. Or three. Etc.
  2. See the thread above regarding the Appomattox River.
  3. Yes, the Corps of Engineering has closed Buggs Island (Kerr Lake) to all tournaments until further notice. Individuals are allowed to use the ramps but not tournament anglers in a tournament.
  4. I keep the rods in the vehicle to and from the ramp. I tried the suction cup holders that go onto the passenger side windows and they did not do well. So I put them in the back of the SUV and then have them on top of and next to the passenger seat. Or, they can go on an angle and point towards the rear driver's seat window. I never leave rods in an unattended vehicle other than in a locked vehicle during weigh-ins.
  5. Double check your tournament as many are being cancelled due to the Wuhan virus. If the tournament is on and you blast off from Hopewell, just fish the marina area and then beat the bank up and down the river with the other guys. Hit the bridge trestles and also along the bank by the bridge. Consider going into Falling Creek and also the Comstock area. Plastics and treble hook baits will work. Be safe and good luck.
  6. Drexel! A great place. I thought you may be from Upper Darby. Welcome to the Forum. Go Flyers.
  7. How come you didn't jump in to get the chatterbait?
  8. Broken a bunch of rods and rod tips. Comes with the territory.

Change makes us uncomfortable. I am glad we have additional guys fishing the Classic other than the pros that have fished it for years. Congrats to Hank Cherry and our Virginia native John Crews for being first and third, respectfully.

Change makes us uncomfortable. I am glad we have additional guys fishing the Classic other than the pros that have fished it for years. Congrats to Hank Cherry and our Virginia native John Crews for being first and sixth, respectfully. Now to sit back and see who decides to return to B.A.S.S. this year.

  16. Was told today at my BPS that the Spring Fishing Classic will start on March 12 and go through April 1. I also received a postcard stating the same dates in today's mail. Classic will be at both BPS and Cabela's stores.

  18. Manly, you have opened the door to a lot of funny responses. The last time this topic appeared in the Forum it was really funny and imaginative. Like "I want to show you my worm" means one thing to us and another thing to nonfisher people. The term "shaky head" can have a different connotation to others. I could go on but I will leave it to the guys to add to the list.
  19. That makes more sense. Thanks for the clarifcation.
  20. Awful. Just an awful situation. I really feel for the families and the other guys on the team. As I understand the story, the bass boat had motor problems and did not blast off with the rest of the field. Wasn't that enough to stay away from the dam area? What a dumb move by the adult on the boat. Putting themselves in peril just to get to an area of fish. I have problems with these types of situations. Goes back to my days in Viet Nam. Thanks for the update and please keep us posted.
  21. Any updates?
  22. In Virginia, when the dogwood trees blossom the bass are on their beds. So we look at the dogwood tree buds and then estimate when the bass will start moving up to their spawning beds. This signals the game is afoot! On the other hand, Club and Region tournaments will start in March and go through the end of the year.
  23. As Tom pens, "1 knot is 100% more reliable then 2 knots." That is a correct statement. A pro told me to tie your braid line directly to the bait, hook or snap. You have to know your water as braid and rocks do not seem to agree with each other and you want some stretch for treble hook baits so there are times when fluorocarbon and mono are still the best.
