Are your tackle boxes ready for opener?
Yes and no. Lures ready for Lake Gaston but not for Buggs Island. Still need to secure pliers, gloves, eyeglasses strap, sunglasses, maps and something to eat and drink. Will do this on Friday, if not sooner.

WEAR A PFD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I purchased the Mustang Survival Coat and plan on wearing it this weekend on Lake Gaston and Buggs Island. I also have the Suspenders that I will be wearing when I take off the coat. We lost two very nice young men (teenagers) on Swift Mountain Lake last year as their canoe flipped and neither were wearing PFD's. It was a tragic ending to two wonderful and promising lives. Our Virginia B.A.S.S. Federation has just announced a new rule that whenever your boat is under way (motor running) you not only must be wearing your PFD but it has to be connected to the kill switch. If not, even when launching your boat or going around in circles waiting for blast-off or the weigh-in, you will be disqualified. Remember, when you enter the water you are in a foreign environment that is not designed to support human beings. Therefore, the environment will win. So please wear your PFD.

Just remembered that I did not print the payroll data for my CPA so got up and did that. Decided to see what was happening on the forum tonight. Going back to bed, soon.

tips and tricks for spooling reels
Run the line through a wet spot on a wash cloth. Use KVD's Line and Lure Conditioner to make the wet spot. It helps remove the memory the line has picked up in storage. The spray the spooled reel two times with the Line and Lure Conditioner. I use a Berkley Portable Line Spooling Station to spool all reels. Works like a charm.

Palomar knot testimony
I use it 99% of the time. Only problems I have encounter is when the jig and spinnerbait skirts get all caught up in the knot and you have to pull them out before tightening the knot. Otherwise, it is my knot of choice.

Oval split rings cont.
Hey Burley, Just finished putting a diamond willow blade on a spinnerbait so I can feel your pain. I totally destroyed the split ring but managed to crimp it togehter to hold the new blade. Of course, I will not be surprise if the blade comes off when fishing. I hate those split rings and the split ring pliers is a pain. There has to be a better way.

Professional School Interview
Do you know anything about each school's program? Such as, Campbell University (Home of the Fighting Camels) has an extremely high graduation rate for their pharmacy school. Smile and relax. Dress nice, as you know how to do. Recent haircut would be nice. Relax and enjoy the interview. And remember, YOU ARE INTERVIEWING THEM, TOO, so ask your questions. My first wife wanted to get her Ed.D. in education at William and Mary but after meeting with the dean of the department, who she thought was a total horses behind, she went to the Medical College of Virginia and got her Ph.D. in nursing. So the interview is a two-way street and you need to be ready to ask them some questions. If you want, PM me and I can ask my friend who is a pharmacist and runs two hospital pharmacies, if there are some things you need to inquire about. Good luck.

This looks like fun!

What ever happened to this rumor?!?!
I spoke to the manager of the sporting goods department at my local Wal-Mart and he said that each manager has the option of stocking which fishing tackle applies to his area. So in my area there is more freshwater fishing than saltwater fishng so we have more freshwater items to select among. We also have excellent catfish fishng in the Historic James River so they stock catfish supplies, rods and reeles. The Wal-Mart in South Hill, Virginia, near Kerr and Buggs, has an outstanding fishing department stocked with lots of freshwater fishing items. So I would think it is at the descretion of the Wal-Mart managers to order and stock what will sell in their various geographical locations. As for anyone purchasing BPS, they better have some strong financial backing. I could see another corporation from the USA or Japan making the purchase but not one individual. Just food for thought.

Alabama boating regs?
Don't forget your Crimson Tide cap and sweat shirt. Do not wear your Tennessee cap or anything orange, blue/orange, purple/gold or with a big "G" on it. Snuff will also be useful should you be pulled over by the game officials. Have a great time and be safe.

Went to buy Abu, ended up with Shimano.
You did good.

EVERYONE!!
I know the big motors need mid-grade gasoline. That is a given. So far I have not had any problems with my Mercury. But thanks for the info. Maybe I will start to use mid-range gasoline, especially when it hits $4.50 a gallon!!!! :'(

Trailers
Zelmo, Are you speaking about a boat trailer? This is the Bass Boating, Canoeing, Tubing and More section so I don't think you are talking about trailers on our baits. Sorry, I have no idea about boat trailers, other than the one I have that came with the boat. Hopefully someone will give you some information that will be useful.
