Best Baseball Movie
I forgot about the original Bad New Bears. Great movie. And for me to say that I liked D**m Yankess means that I am old. But I saw the movie and play so I guess I am old.

Best Baseball Movie
With Basspro48 excited about his upcoming baseball season and the majors already in Florida forspring training, I was thinking of my favorite baseball move. So I was wondering what is your favorite baseball movie? My favorite baseball movie is...Bull Durham. I loved the scene when the pitcher nailed the bull mascot with the pitch. OK guys, name your favorite baseball movie and any favorite scenes from them.

Today is the day!
Whew! That's a relief. I read your post title and thought you were going to be doing something else for the first time. Good luck on the season. I know you guys will do well. Just remember the Tom Hanks' line, "There is no crying in baseball." I will follow the team in the newspaper and look for your photo, too. Have a great season!

I guess this means you guys are internationally known within the world of bass fishing. Glenn, thanks for the pictures. Really enjoyed them. So where is the 2009 Classic and will you all be going again?

Lake Avid comes alive
Avid, Another nice one from Lake Avid. I really *** you for having such a wonderful body of water to fish. Keep it up and keep sending those photos. It gives us all hope that we will be back on the water within the next 30 days to try to match your success. I just got to get to Florida one day to do some fishing!

first time tounament director any advice?
And one more thing. If your Club mandates all boaters have current liability insurance on their watercraft please let the Club secretary collect and manage the policy collections and renewals. You do not want to chase the guys around to get the information or to have them send a copy of the declarations page to you. Let the Club secretary do this and give you a list of who has not provided the necessary proof of insurance so you can then tell the guys they cannot fish in any club or federation tournaments when you pull for your tournaments. They can not get angry with you as the Club secretary has been the one chasing them for the information and you are only enforcing the tournament rules. So you can see how your best friends in the Club can get mad at you due to their own ignorance and procrastination. Being a Club tournament director is like being a lighting rod on a tall barn in the middle of an open field. Otherwise, have fun.

Open-Wheel Racing
I love the open wheel racing. It is fast and exciting. I go to the Indy 500 but the cars go by so fast you have to watch the infield TV to see what is happening. I like NASCAR, too. JJ, Rainbow Warrior and Carl Edwards are my favorites, with Stewart and Junior a close second.

keeping track of spinnerbait weights
Pencil Pusher said it all. The blades and colors are very important. You should know your spinnerbaits by weight by looking at them. Store them by weight in a tackle storage box if you want and then change out the skirt colors. And before you hit the water you should have an idea of the water clarity and cloud cover and structure in the body of water you are fishing and rig your rods and reels for the types of baits you want to use, including a spinnerbait. If you take too many spinnerbaits you will go totally nuts on the water.

first time tounament director any advice?
Suggestions. 1. Be ready for some flack from some of the guys no matter what happens. 2. Be very, very, very familiar with the rules. 3. Enforce the rules even though you are best friends with the guys breaking the rules. 4. Stay your ground. Once the tournament schedule is set it is set. Only the blast off times and weigh in times can be discussed by the Club. 5. Corrordinate your tournaments with the Federation and holidays. Be careful not to schedule a tournament on either Mother's Day or Father's Day weekends. 6. Be sure to check the tide charts when fishing tidal rivers. 7. Set a meeting date and deadline for anyone to challenge the rankings. Once that date has past, then the rankings are final. 8. Be sure to have in your tournament rules the option of calling a meeting with the tournament members and the Club's officers to discuss any problems. It is up to the Club if the officers have any votes but you may need their support in case of a problem. 9. Other things to put in your Club's tournament rules include what to do in case of inclement weather; how to contact everyone in case of a cancellation or postponement; cell phone numbers for emergencies; how to handle boats that fail and moving the fishermen into other boats; and any other disaster you can think of that you may need to address. 10. If you have a pot be sure to know who is in the pot so someone not in the pot cannot claim their share of the winnings. Otherwise, have a good time!!!

new record
Way to go, Redline. Keep us updated when we break it again.

Rate ESPN's coverage of the classic......
P.S. I would have loved to see Bobby Knight go bonkers and break the Carrot Stick over his knee and throw it at the pros and then throw the chairs around and cuss and yell and shove people and then get a box of tackle and throw it around. Sprinkle in a few cuss words and obscene gestures. Now that would have been a sensational pep talk.

Rate ESPN's coverage of the classic......
Until they have a satellite hook-up with the cameras in the boats we will not be seeing more fishing. Or at least the guys catching fish. To have another boat with a long-lens camera following each of the 50 boaters and then running the video back to the production trailer to show us the pros catching fish is too costly and time consuming. I thought the coverage was very interesting. I thought the weigh-in was as usual, melodramitic and too noisey. All in all, I enjoyed the broadcasts.

e21 Carrot Styx 249.99 Why or why Not?
Isn't the Carrot Stick the rod Coach Knight was using as a prop when he gave the pep talk to Duckett and the three other pros? Did any of these four guys do well in the Classic? I know Duckett phloched. What about the other guys? And did any of the seven finalists use a Carrot Stick? Just asking. A word to the wise is sufficient.

a steal?
Be sure to have the motor checked out by a professional before you make the purchase.

Has anyone read "Knowing Bass" by Ken Jones?
Excellent. If you are a serious bass fisherman and want to understand your enemy this is a must book to have. Dr. Jones explains a lot of stuff that helps you understand the animal and its habits, etc. I strongly suggest you make the investment, read it, and use a yellow highlight to highlight those items you believe are important to know.

Going shopping need a list.
DJMaxx, We can give you list after list after list of bait to consider. However, please make a list based on the bodies of water you fish and the time of the year. By doing this, you can concentrate on some basic lures for each place and time of the year. For example, now at Lake Gaston you will throw crankbairts, Rat-L- Traps and jigs. On Kerr you throw spinnerbaits and if the water level is in the bushes Kreature baits and weedless plastics. When the fish are on the beds you think lizards fised Carolina-rigged. In the summer when the water is hot you fish plastics. after trying your luck with topwaters in the AM and PM. If any of your bodies of water have cover you throw into the cover with jigs, frogs, trick worms, weedless plastics, etc. Get my drift? There are just too many biats to suggest and some may not work or be as productive as you would think on the bodies of water you fish. And the same goes for your rods, reels and line. You really do not need 200 pounds of plastics; 250 hard baits; and 20 rods and reels, although that would be nice as a start!!!!

Maui
Great pics. I knew right away you were not fishing for bass by the size of the rod and reel. Had you been fishing for bass with that rod and reel then it is time for a road trip to Maui.

I need prayers!
Catt, that is worse than horrible. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family, especially the little girl. She will have some psychological problems arising out of the attack. What has this country turned into?

UPS Aircraft Repairs
UPS Airplane Maintenance Just in case you need a laugh... Remember it takes a college degree to fly a plane, but only a high school diploma to fix one; a reassurance for those of you who fly routinely in your jobs. After every flight, UPS pilots fill out a form, called a "gripe sheet," which tells mechanics about problems with the aircraft. The mechanics correct the problems, document their repairs on the form, and then pilots review the gripe sheets before the next flight. Never let it be said that ground crews lack a sense of humor. Here are some actual maintenance complaints submitted by UPS ' pilots (marked with a P) and the solutions recorded (marked with an S) by maintenance engineers. By the way, UPS is the only major airline that has never had an accident. P: Left inside main tire almost needs replacement. S: Almost replaced left inside main tire. * P: Test flight OK, except auto-land very rough. S: Auto-land not installed on this aircraft. * P: Something loose in cockpit S: Something tightened in cockpit * P: Dead bugs on windshield. S: Live bugs on back-order. * P: Autopilot in altitude-hold mode produces a 200 feet per minute Descent S: Cannot reproduce problem on ground. * P: Evidence of leak on right main landing gear. S: Evidence removed. * P: DME volume unbelievably loud. S: DME volume set to more believable level. * P: Friction locks cause throttle levers to stick. S: That's what friction locks are for. * P: IFF inoperative in OFF mode. S: IFF always inoperative in OFF mode. * P: Suspected crack in windshield. S: Suspect you're right. * P: Number 3 engine missing. S: Engine found on right wing after brief search * P: Aircraft handles funny. (I love this one!) S: Aircraft warned to straighten up, fly right, and be serious. * P: Target radar hums. S: Reprogrammed target radar with lyrics. * P: Mouse in cockpit. S: Cat installed. * And the best one for last * P: Noise coming from under instrument panel. Sounds like a midget pounding on something with a hammer. S: Took hammer away from midget

Your favorite high-end jig?
Shadcranker, No preference. I use a bunch of different types from different manufacturers. I guess the fish don't care what they cost just as long as they are attracted to the lure.

Favorite Topwater Colors
Black on buzzbait. White on a buzzbait. Shad RICO. Shad Pop-R. Pink Trick Worm. Green frog. Blue Sammy. Black Spook. Silver Spook. That's about I can recall but I am sure there are some others.

WBT Championship
BuckeyeOne, Because Tennessee is in the SEC which has more southern based teams than does Memphis State's conference. Like the University of Cincinnati is more of a southern team than Ohio State based on geographical location when compared to Upper Arlington. Makes sense? Of course not. But it is fun.

WBT Championship
Hey Tin, Alton Jones is from Waco, Texas. Way down SOUTH! Now to see who is going to win the NASCAR race this afternoon after the rain delay. I tell you, the South is on a tear!
