  1. For those that might be looking for a decent 1000 size spinning reel, Dick's flash sale has the Shimano Nexave 75% off for $14.98.
  2. They also have the 8.1:1 for the same price.
  3. Really wish I could swing that.
  4. Officially landed in Oklahoma City on May 23rd and this Canadian boy has been going crazy. Trips to Academy, Dick's, Walmart and Cabela's so far and it has been incredible!! Just wish someone would have warned me that the monkey turns into a gorilla quick. Yield so far has been 2 whopper plopper 90's, 15 bags of zoom flukes (academy 25% off is killer), falcon bucoo rod, one knocker spooks, xcalibur squarebills, yum dinger's and rogue's at dick's....buy 5, get 5 free. I am now scared that the US funds I brought will run out within the first 2 weeks of my trip. Lol. Might have to send out an SOS.
  5. Guessing the video was taken using a chest mount? I have been back and forth on whether the chest or hat mount is better for me and can't really decide. I move my head a lot more than I ever thought I did.
  6. Thanks for the heads up. I ordered a few one knockers and hard knockers.
  7. not the same place. this was a few years ago.
  8. If you check the Gander website it will show you all that information as well. Just a huge disclaimer saying all stores are closing. Guessing that is confirmation.
  9. Thanks guys. I really appreciate the information. I will be staying in Oklahoma for a month or so and was milling around the idea of taking the 4 hour drive to experience the tournament. Really hope that I can make it work.
  10. I was hoping that some folks who have attended some BASS Elite tournament events might be able to answer a few questions for me. I am thinking about attending the Elite event at Lake Dardanelle in June, but not having attended an event before I don't know what to expect. Is there an expo of sorts? Vendors to buy lures? I am also curious if Elites who don't make the 3rd day cut leave or do they stick around and represent vendors and such? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Not sure what type and size line you are using but I have a crankbait setup rigged for just such a situation. Bank fishing with crankbaits can be tricky due to exactly what you are experiencing. My setup is using at least 15 pound mono which allows the baits to run a bit shallower and thus get hung up less. Course, as the others have said you need to keep rod up high and adjust accordingly. Unlike finesse techniques the heavier line doesn't seem to affect the fish.
  12. Huge congrats on your first fish and welcome to Bassresource.
  13. My personal experience with the Berkley rebates has been fantastic. I bought a bunch of the saltwater gulp baits last year and submitted the rebate. Check was received but got thrown out in the trash by mistake. I called the 1-800 number and spoke to a very nice lady who took my information and could see that the check was not cashed. She cancelled that check and issued another. 2 weeks later I received it.
  14. Man, I could spend years in a store reading the fine print on every package and still not be able to drag myself out of there. I envy your self control.
  15. 20mins?? There has to be some sort of secret to that.
  16. Tiny Torpedo has been a favorite of mine since the 80's. I have caught my PB on it and Smallies hammer them, not to mention chain pickeral, ducks (don't ask) and an otter. It will catch them all.
  17. Surprise find at Flea Market for $35. I just couldn't walk away.
  18. Take a look at Sierra Trading Post. They have spf clothing from the big brand names like Columbia at great prices.

Went and checked a smaller Walmart that I had forgotten about and I am glad I did. They didn't have much but picked up 3 items. The purple ghost I was really excited about.

Looks like a great find and I am glad you were able to find them. Tulsa has always been tricky for me finding sale items. I always seem to be a bit late.
  21. Has anyone seen any pics of the Storm Cover Pop topwater Ott was using?
  22. The RC Stx or the Bakers? I know of a place that sells the RC Stx in Canada but again.....shipping is killer and not sure if worth it.

I am going to have to go back and recheck my local stores.

They have quite a few things on clearance here but not the Xraps or shadow raps. A few Husky jerks and original floaters as far as Rapala goes.
  25. I use Columbia and it has never failed me. Whether it is my duck hunting jacket or my light rain jacket, it has performed great. If you go the Columbia route make sure you what you buy is Omni-Tech (waterproof/breathable) and not Omni-Shield (water repellant)...huge difference.
