  1. Well I My question is why no info on their website and if so going out of business what's up with the new flouro line they have came out with I guess I'm looking for the words straight from the horses mouth so to speak. Or have I missed the memo here
  2. A few weeks ago you was looking at getting a bow and taking up archery and hunting. Just curious as to what you have chosen as your new rig, if you have yet
  3. Politics and fishing don't mix I'm glad this forum has the insight to realize that. Unless it pertains to anti hunting/fishing leave it at the door JMO
  4. Well while at BPS today I was looking over the line section trying to find a replacement for Gamma which was my line of choice until BPS stopped selling it. To my surprise another person happend to ask the sells person if they had any gamma flourocarbon line. The sales person replied that no BPS does not carry gamma products anymore. The sales person didn't elaborate as to why and went on his way. While still looking for a replacement line still the salesperson came back and asked if he could help me find anything. We struck up a conversation and I stated I really hate the fact that gamma is no longer producing line anymore. His response was yes they are they just come out with a new flourocarbon called Ice flouro. He said we just don't carry gamma anymore. I asked why he said he had no idea. Said you can still get at tackle wharehouse and cabelas To my surprise he was right I looked it up and they do sell it at cabelas still and nothing on gammas website stating they are discontinuing their fishing products Have I totally missed something here or what a few weeks ago I was told on here they was getting out of the business
  5. Ironically I will probally be putting a daiwa fuego on it. Not a bash aginst shimano or anything I like their reels I own some and they have performed flawlesly for me. That said I have some Daiwa reels that I'm fond of too. I like to sample different flavors from time to time. Right now my flavor is daiwa. This will be my first spinning rig as well. I have always been a baitcast man.
  6. http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_100233_100002002_100000000_100002000_100-2-2 Just ordered a shimano Cumara rod 7'2" m xf Although I haven't decided yet which reel I'm going to put on it, I know I'm going to use this rod and what ever reel I pick for shaky head. This will be my first shimano rod, I hope there reputation proceeds them like their reels do.
  7. I would like to know his thoughts on advantages and disadvantages that anglers face with the classic being the first event for them of the year How he prepares himself for it after being off a couple of months I guess one disadvantage I would think would effect them would be when the classic was at the end of summer they have had the season to hone themselves and are ready. With the classic being the first event of the season and them being off for a couple of months it has to be harder to get up to speed
  8. It might sound weird but I don't think I could listen my iPod while fishing. I have to be able to hear the sounds around me the sounds of my bait hitting the water the sound of the reel when reeling in. Everthing really. I guess it's the hunter side of me that has to be able to hear any sound that might give me the edge on the game I'm after. I just see it as a distraction for myself personally. On the subject of iPods though I have over 300 hours of bowhunting and bass fishing podcasts loaded to my iPhone that really comes in handy while I'm at work and it's a slow day.
  9. Well I can say I don't have much confidence in either. I can't seem to catch any on a spinnerbait and I tried the chatter bait several times and no luck there either. It's safe to say at least for me they both aren't my strong suit. But there is way to many fisherman out there who can work magic with a spinner bait for it to ever be replaced JMO
  10. Well I wouldn't say you can't have any success with these baits during winter time. It is possible to catch fish I would imagine they wouldn't be as productive as say spring summer time. I read a article a couple of years ago where Rick clunn was fishing somewhere and I'm not certain if it was a tournament or not but I seem to remember him saying it was and a late spring snow storm hit and it was cold. He went on to say that the fish just weren't interested in anything he threw at them. He said he was in a spot the water was smooth as glass and the snow was coming down hard. He remembered it was absolutely quiet all around hardly a sound at all. So with the conditions being what they was and nothing else had worked he tried a buzz bait. Well I don't remember all the details of the article but he started catching fish. So yes I think you can fish them year round just some times of the year are going to produce better than others I would say most guys fish them come spring on through out summer and into fall. I like to fish them on cloudy days myself
  11. I must be the exception because it's working fine for me on my home computer and my phone. There have been no problems for me at anytime.
  12. Well I guess people today don't want to work through the ranks to get to the top they just want to start at the top. My saying is you have to learn to crawl before you walk. I'm sure one day they will look back and say wow I really wish I would have stuck with that job.
  13. Does anybody listen to bass edge podcasts. I really enjoy listening to them myself makes a bad day at work a little better plus you get some good info too
  14. I like using a shaky head myself.
  15. I find that the c rig is one of my favorite ways to fish. I fish it deep or shallow. To me I gained alot more just going out and trying it as much as I could vs just reading how others do it. I guess my point is I made the c rig work for me I beleve you can use it almost anywhere at anytime you just have to keep on it
  16. Scott is top notch my advice is try several kinds and brands. Archery has so many different variables it can get confusing really fast. If you are going to be serious about the hunting side of things my advice is to buy two of the same kind. One for practice, one for hunting
  17. Sorry, been a while since I have Been real active on the forum wasn't really paying atten. Thanks for the info kinda bums me out but I guess it will give me a chance to try something new
  18. Bummer, I really liked gama too. Looks like I will be looking for a replacement.
  19. Forgive me I have been on a break from fishing for a while. I was at bps a while back and I thought I would pick up some gama copolymer line but they where out or so I thought. I was back at bps recently and still none. I have the 2010 catalog none in there nor online. Gama still has a website so I'm guessing they still in business. Does anyone know why bps isn't carrying gama anymore.
  20. I won't go into the brand wars if you continue to do some research you will see alot of people who are brand loyal. I am myself but with that said my best advice and from what I can see here is you have chosen a bow from what everyone here has suggested to you. I'm not saying that is the wrong bow for you. It has been my expericance that you don't find the bow it finds you. What I mean is you really need to get out to some pro shops and shoot as many different bows by different manufactuers and get a feel of what your looking for. I have a high end bow myself and I have spent alot of money outfitting it with the best accesories that I feel are right for me. I spend alot of time out shooting and practicing and hunting with it. It's a enjoyable experiance. Do some research on dealers and pro shops go visit them ask questions and shoot them all. Bows are like fishing reels everyone has there favorite ones. I will not push you toward a specific brand but I will help you in anyway way if you need any help. You are getting into something that is fun and addicting and also expensive once you have the habit. Be sure you really take your time and don't just drop money down on the first thing you see. Im not trying to sound like a smart elic by saying anything above or sound like a know it all but I think you will apprecieate my advice later down the road as you become more involved in the sport.

I don't remember exactly why but once my wife and I went somewhere and I had left all my shaving stuff at home. Well she had her stuff just disposable razors and some stuff called skintimate shaving gel. Well I used both and I have never had a better shave. So now and go ahead and laugh but I use womens disposable 2 blade razors and skintimate for women cream when I shave. Works for me. Go ahead laugh if you want but hey it does the truck for me. All the other stuff I tried felt like I was using a dull butter knife to shave with
  22. I like using a Carolina rig alot in the winter. Reel it in extra slow. It's hard to detect bites some times but I find it effective. I like to take a senko and rig wacky style and cover alot of area. Both have worked for me before. One time I took a Shad colored rattle trap and burnt them up it was cold out and it was like I was fishing in the summer. I have never had a day since where I caught as many while it was winter
  23. Yeah I read on the news yesterday that floridas govner was asking for the whole state to be declared a disaster for farmers, kinda shoots global warming down in flames I guess. Anyways we still have some hunting seasons in up here I get out and take advantage of small game hunting. Get in some good excercise in the process plus it's nice to just be out. Our lakes here well the ones that I can fish are froze still but not real thick though a few more days of thus warmer weather and they should thaw out. I plan on getting out my tackle bag and rods and reels and blowing the dust off and taking inventory of a few things. After my almost two year break from fishing I'm hoping that it's like riding a bike and I haven't forgot to much.
  24. Thanks guys. I'm ready to fish I know that. I spent all day today rabbit hunting tromping through briar patches in stuff so thick even the dogs was having a hard time getting through. While I was being ate up wading through the brush my thoughts was fishing is so much easier. Atleast it's less painfull geting my line out of a backlash than myself out of a wild rosebush with thorns that could stop a rhino
  25. Well boys after a very long break I'm back in action again for some fishing The fire inside has started to burn again and I'm ready to wet the line and haul some bass in. I've been gone from here a while Been doing some serious hunting and have really devoted myself to archery while I've been gone. I'm going to get the tackle bag and rods and reels dusted off as soon as hunting season is over I'm going to be fishing It's good to be back I plan on surfing around the forums the next few days and seeing what's new
