Best rod for 100$
Fury rods are my recommendation. However, I feel that they are rated a power to high. ie the 703 is more of a medium. The 735 is a solid heavy action rod. The veritas is also a good rod, I just like the fury much better.

Borrow Pits
So I fish a lot of borrow pits and I've always been curious of the topography. Has anyone charted a borrow pit? Has anyone taken the time to use a Carolina rig to feel it out? I know that mine are mostly weedy mud bottoms.

new lews mach rod seems like a great deal
Just realized this was just the rod and not a combo.... Those Winn Grips are nice.

Froggin Setup for under $350
He almost got it! The Fury 735 is great, but the savvy will be a bit faster. Try a Lew's SuperDuty, or a BB1 Pro if you plan on throwing different sized frogs.

seagur flourocarbon
Now I have to try it.

new lews mach rod seems like a great deal
My buddy got a mach1 combo about 2-3mo ago. It was a IM8 blank though, looks like it's got SiC guides. In fact, it looks a lot like my veritas. But regardless of components, it was a great deal. I loaned him a coupon from F&S and he got a Mach1 and a rod for $100.

Fast or Extra Fast
Xfast.

New pole size
Get a moderate fast rod for reaction baits.

Golf course ponds
I fish a lot of golf courses, always at night. I use a black or white buzzbait, or a frog, depending on the weed level. However, the most important thing is that you have permission from the course itself. 4/5 in my area allowed me by asking the groundskeep. They are good for bass, lots and a few of great size, but they seem to be more vulnerable to fish kills.

A Goose Ate My Bait!
I caught a swan once, it died. The landowner actually thanked me for it, they chase her around her own yard (she's 85). I've also had a Great Horned Owl go after my frog at night. That's scary.

Line Size for Whopper Plopper?
Yaaa bro^ I use 30lb braid, or 10lb mono.

Rain Rain Go Away
So it's been nasty and rainy for the last few days and I haven't been out on the water. Now my Dad always told me "it doesn't rain underwater", and I know about the affects of pressure. But what about the effect of minor flooding, major flooding, does the rain substantially cool the water? I could go on with questions all day, but I'll leave it to those I guess. Edit: To avoid a smart@ss reply, of course I mean how these affect the fish.

Fenwick World Class
I'm also interested in hearing about these. I have a discount with Fenwick and I've been curious about their high end rods.

What gear ratio do I want?
I don't think anyone has mentioned this, to my surprise. What relates gear ratio to IPT is the size of the spool. All of Lew's ratios changed from the generic ratios (7.1, 6.3, 5.4) to their new ones (7.5, 6.8, 5.6). They did this since they decreased the spool size. It was essentially a balancing act to keep the IPT the same. But to answer the buzzbait question. I have my a BB1 (7.1:1), that's plenty fine, but it's broke. So I use my frogging SuperDuty (8:1) and it's perfectly fine too.

Best rod, reel and line for frog fishing.
Dobyn's Champion D735c, Lew's SuperDuty in 8:1, and Sunline FX2 50lb. I use a DX745c, but it's a bit too stiff for my preference, but my buddy's D735 is the one I steal for tournaments.

Braid Poundage System?
I use 30lb as main line for my spinning reels. I use 50lb on my frogging and topwater reels. If you have any questions about which braid to use, good luck.

Rod I can use for cranks, spinner baits, chatterbaits.
I have a Dobyns Champion D684cb. It's got a nice bend to it, perfect for moving baits, just remember that fishing cover and moderate rods tend to be a bad mixture.

New dobyns series
Hm. I'll stand corrected then, I must have misinterpreted him.
-
Lews reel?
I use my bb1 for cranking and topwaters, whenever I want the longest casts. For everything else, I like my TPros. However, I love my new TProG for bout near everything I throw,

New dobyns series
I'll probably buy one, I was gonna buy a SS734 anyway, why not get a different rod too haha

Spinning reel around $60
President is a great reel, but right now there is a great Lew's for $80, about 40% off. It's a great reel, at a great price.

New dobyns series
So according to Rich at Dobyns, it's the same blank as the savvy, just has the upgraded cork and new guides. It's eventually going to replace the savvy provided no backlash haha.
