  1. So I sell mostly Lew's and Shimano at work. I've found, from listening to customers and personal experience that Shimano is the best. But only if you are spending over $200. If you want to spend $100, the Speed Spool is the way to go. Lew's makes the best under $200, and Shimano makes the best over $200.
  2. Just a tube jig head. I use braid with a FC leader. We'd drag 'em in current and they'd get snagged.
  3. I won't give as complete of an answer as those first few, but here I go anyways. I use hard jerkbaits in early spring, or when bass are suspending. I only use soft jerkbaits as a finesse presentation to throw whenever I miss a strike, especially for topwaters. I also sometimes use a weightless or wacky rigged senko in place of the fluke.
  4. So I was supposed to go up to St Clair this weekend but couldn't get out of work. While at work I've been roaming the isles wondering what the best "bang for your buck" tubes are? Last time I was at St Clair, we went through tube after tube, I don't really want to spend that much on those if I loose them so frequently.
  5. I like to use a fast action rod, I've got a Savvy 703c, I could do with a bit of a lighter rod, but I already spend too much on fishing. I know that some people like the mod-fast actions, I tried it and I don't really like it that much. It's just not as crisp of a walking action.
  6. We've got Okuma Stratus V baitcasting and spinning rods for like 50% off.
  7. We've got quite the rod at F&S haha. It's a whopping 15'
  8. What's your guys favorite braid? I've really liked Sunline's FX2. I think I might purchase Sunlines new BX2 soon.
  9. Man this question gets asked like 3x a week. No hunting, would be the Lew's Speed Spool LFS. Sure you can hunt around for a Tatula or a BPS PQ, that's up to you.
  10. I hope this is asked on trivia night.
  11. Just put signs up for Lucky Craft Hardbaits, $5 each when you buy 3 or more. Looks to be mostly lipless, no pointers or sammys. EDIT: at F&S
  12. I didn't even know this limit existed, makes sense as to why there aren't many rods over 8'. I have a muskie rod that is 9' and a cranking rod that is 8', my buddy has a custom rod that's 10.5'.
  13. I'm another one of the people who fishes 7'+. My cranking rod is 8' actually. I never found anything disadvantageous about a longer rod, unless I was fishing in the sticks from the shore.
  14. Anyone here use a scrounger? I feel like it's being overshadowed by the chatterbait these days.
  15. It's a topwater, so it's mostly about silhouette and light vs dark. I've got Loon and Powder.
  16. I generally use 8lb as a leader as most have said. I've also had a little bit of a problem with it alone, not as bad as bad as others though.
  17. When it comes to frogs or buzzbaits, I only fish two colors. Natural and Black for frogs, Black and White for buzzbaits. You guys similar for other topwaters like spooks or poppers?
  18. That's good they don't like me buying all the good stuff.
  19. F&S where I work at Keitech impacts for 3 for $12.
  20. Robert Riley posted a topic in Bass Clubs
So I'm currently a alumni advisor for my college team, they are currently looking to expand their income. So far we have a high school tournament that brings in a couple grand, we are starting a fall tournament for a memorial scholarship, we visit several fishing shows in the off season and raffle off a rod or reel, that makes a bit of money. Any other clubs do anything that helps bring in more money? We are thinking of hosting a fundraiser at a campus bar twice a year (fall and spring semesters).
  21. I was an exec member of the Illini Bass Club when I was getting my degree. You sign up and if you have a boat or you find someone, you're pretty set. If it's a very competitive school like Bethel or Bama, idk lol
  22. my mistake, misread that. I just posted on a thread comparing the Lite G and the Pro G, might want to check it out.
  23. Only related to the first post, and a sarcastic response, but have you tried pike fishing? I usually find I catch bass when fishing for pike.
  24. Like WPC said, the ProG has the better aluminum frame, but the LiteG's carbon frame knocks off a few tenths of an ounce, if that matters to you. Probably the biggest difference is the braking system, and that's not even that different. It's just a 4-pin (LiteG) centrifugal vs a 6-pin (ProG) centrifugal. Lastly, the Lite is built on the Super Low Profile (SLP) base. It's marginally smaller that the already palmable ProG. So if weight isn't a big issue, or you got little hands, go with the ProG.
  25. I assume you want a rod in the $100 range? I'd either go with a veritas frog rod, or if you want a better quality rod go with the Dobyn's Fury 735.
