Is there a new "formulation" for Kanzen? I noticed that it disappeared from a few shelves and now we just got in back in-stock at full price? If it is new, has anyone used the new stuff?

The title says it all! What is the lightest test braid you throw on a baitcaster? I've got a new reel and I'm spooling it up for chatterbaits and swimjigs. I have some 10# Invizx FC on a reel and I feel like it's too thin, not sure if I'm gonna have the same problem with braid due to its suppleness. But I figure I'll ask some of y'all before I pull the trigger. PS: The reel is a Lew's TMB.

It could be the difference between the Champion and the ChampionXP, that's my guess.

That's the chatterbait rod right? I just got the 735cb glass, and it's kind of fast for throwing cranks. It'd be a decent squarebill and spinnerbait rod though. I'd look at the 765cb glass or not, it's a good cranking rod.

I really like Dobyns, the 735 is a great rod, long enough to get leverage and to cast far, short enough where the length doesn't prohibit your walk-the-dog motions and plenty of backbone. The Sierra is what I'd recommend, or you can save some money on the Fury. I choose dobyn's because they are light and balanced. That's why I don't like the Veritas rods. But I do really like the mojo series rods too, St Croix and Dobyn's have great customer service (if that has value to you).

It's a good rod. I've got the casting one, it's the same rod that is on the Mach II combo, but with SS inserts. I work at DSG (the carbonfire lineup is DSG exclusive) and it's not worth the $80, but when it's half off it is. We've also had a sale, probably 2x a year where if you buy the reel, you get the rod for free.

Really depends what you want to throw. This is what I fish the most: 1. DX745 for jigs, C-rigs, swim jigs and frogs. 2. D735cb glass for Chatterbaits. 3. D704c for spinnerbaits and small paddletails (I have a savvy, but you'll want a champion). 4. D806cb for big crankbaits 5. D684cb for jerkbaits and squarebills. If you give us a few techniques you want to focus on, we can definitely narrow down your options.

That Fury is a great idea, perfect for dt6s and squarebills. I had a deal that I couldnt pass up on a Lews TP1, which is a little heavier but I like it. Head to a local shop and see what you can get your hands on.

Full grip. The Dobyns is the way to go. Just bought a FR806sb for toothy critters and a rigs. The lighter 795sb will be great for your applications.

I mean... If you think you need a medium spinning rod, then I'll help ya out and say "Yeah, you need a medium spinning rod." I use my Dobyns Savvy 703c, it's more of a medium action rod and it loads well enough to throw those smaller swimbaits. It's perfect for me.

I use a Dobyn's 703, which is a 7' (true medium rod) and I'd much rather prefer the 734, a 7'3 (true MH), got a little more power and a little bit more length. The medium is good for 3/8 at the most, and the 7' is good for shorter and more accurate casts.

That's a hard comparison, the curado is a great reel, but in the end, I'm a Lew's guy. If that's the new BB1 give it a try, they've redesigned it and it looks awesome. When it's two reels this close, go see if you can hold them, that's mostly what it comes down to in my opinion.

That Feugo pricing is hard to beat, and so is the Bass Pro PQ (i don't remember if it's on sale still). Otherwise, I've got a Lew's Speed Spool that I use for mine, and I couldn't be happier.

So it's mostly big spinnerbaits and rattle traps. And we are fishing the spillway of a dam. Learning that, I'll probably stick with my mag heavy cranking rod then.

Going for Stripers with my boss this weekend, need some advice on gear. I've got plenty of musky stuff and bass stuff, but no idea what to actually being. Would the musky rod be overkill? Braid or mono? Throwing it all out there!

Just snagged an E6x 803c jwr, a 6'8 MH/XF casting rod. Anyone got one of these and what do you use it for? I figured it'd be my finesse jigs and plastics rod.

I would say the 7'3" MH. A Veritas runs like an extra step heavier than your average rod. You do want a shorter rod for fishing frogs usually, 7'3 is a great length. You can get a strong hookset and good casts with a longer rod, but you also want something shorter and lighter so it's easier to actually fish and make pinpoint casts.

Do you plan on using a 1oz weight? I've thrown 1oz Carolina rigs on my 745 with no problem. I also throw primarily 1/2 and 3/4oz football jigs and have no problem either.

I use a 7'9" H/F Aetos or a Dobyns DX745c. Anything long, heavy and sensitive would work great. I use the same rod for wobble-heads, Carolina rigs, and footballs. Specifically, in your price range, the Champion DC744c would be perfect, 7'4" Heavy Extra Fast for $260. I also use heavy gauge hooks and 17lb FC (PLine Tactical currently).

Nah, but I'll buy one eventually (That's what I said about the Magnesium one too). Check out W2Fs article about it though.

I use a BB1 for my spinnerbaits and squarebills. I'd def prefer a TMB or even a speed spool LFS since they're cheaper.
