  1. i use 12# line........but know guys that use 17# I dont fish heavy cover much so the 12 does what I need it to, plus I can throw the lighter line better........I would say if you are doing a bunch of 3/4 stuff you wouldn't want less than 15#, but I defer to the people with more experience......
  2. ducketts m 7'0 was more tippy than my dobyns 733 and I feel it had less backbone as well. I would say comparing the dobyns to duckett, go up 1 power if you get a duckett........other brands I have no clue.
  3. is your rod the DX 702finesse casting model? I been thinkning about that rod for shakeyheads but the "finesse" label scares me, and wondering if I need to just get the 742 casting but the weight range scares me there because I throw mostly 3/16+worm. what do you think?
  4. I throw 3/8 and 1/2 oz spinnerbaits on a Dobyns 733c paired with a lews TP you can really chunk a 1/2 spinnerbait. if you are throwing more 1/2 to 3/4 I would go to the 734c.......... but I dont really know cause I have NO experience at all with 3/4 oz spinnerbaits.
  5. can you also use the 704cb for squarebills?? mostly KVD 1.5s
  6. making it $25 cheaper than I thought only makes the bearing monkey scream louder, LOL.
  7. is it worth the $$$$ since the lews TP takes 3 bearings looking at $75 per reel, anyone think it is worth it??
  8. ketorlac is usally what they give me for pain , as it is designed to relax the kidneys. I have had 2 .....biggest the size of a wooden matchhead. 1 was shaped like an arrowhead and the other looked like a cockleburr...(google if not from the south, LOL) the pain doesnt come from passing it persay, the pain is getting it to the bladder, once in the bladder its pretty smooth sailing unless it gets hung....then OUCH OUCH. it is pain beyond belief, for sure and never want to go through it agian, but it runs through my family. in fact it is a rite of passage of sorts as every Needham male as had them. crazy part is, once you get your first one you are guarenteed to get a second, they might be 20 years apart, but sooner or later its gonna happen.
  9. 702 would be light for jigs IMO. step up to at least a 3 power , and you could do 4 power as well. i pitch 1/4 oz jigs + rage tail a lot of times with a dx744, and could easy go to 1/2oz+plastic. i have a 734 champion laying around that i could sell if you want. pm me if you are interested.
  10. the birds are more simple to run.........simple in the sense you have to hit many less buttons to scroll menu to menu, unless they changed something.
  11. does anyone think I could get by with a 24v system? Just noticed that the terrova doesnt come in a 36v 45in shaft........
  12. being a 3 power rod you can do a bunch ............tubes, 1./4 oz trigs, rage rig, shakey head.... you name it my 733c champ is my spinnerbait rod my 743dx c is my rage craw rod, tubes , anything 1/4 oz + plastic now my 742dx sf is a fantastic drop shot and the perfect shakeyhead rod........ but since you have to SF instead of cast I would say you could shakey and drop shot the your rod as well. enjoy your new rod.
  13. Jeff--- explain more on how to run it in shallow water vs the "pull the rope half up and go" example........ at horseshoe fishing the cypress trees or back in the willows, you get hung up and half to go in a get it??? normally ya would just pull the rope a litle if needed , but as I understand it you cant do that with the terrova.
  14. jeff, I could not find a listed weight for the everstart , which is why I did not included it ....the other specs look great actually! Everstart Maxx 29 Deep Cycle 29 Flooded Cell 675 125 205 NA $75
  15. I am looking at maybe upgrading my trolling motor this winter to a 36v system, I have 24v now. I will also next year start fishing a HP limit lake and will have to be TM only, I will be traveling 2 miles to the best fishing spots on that lake, and will be running on high for about 30-45 minutes to get there. I want to make sure I got enough battery to get there, fish all day, and get back. Weight is a fairly big concern in the long run, as my boat is weight sensitive so I don’t want to pick up anymore weight than I have to….I have 170# of batteries now(2tm and 1 cranking) and when I go 36v I will be moving my cranking battery up front to a rod locker to help balance out the addition battery weight. Also with these choices listed does group size matter? Or should you judge a battery by its specs?
  16. no, not if rigged right. I use normal 4/0 owner ewg plus.
  17. I think it is 4 months out from hitting store shelves........may it was 4 weeks......IDK it was one of em.
  18. mark rose had a picture on his facebook page.....big for sure!
  19. Cool.......makes me feel better and opens up the choices if I decide I really want a different boat........I have heard guys say they wont take their glass boat to any lake that is "stumpy" or any chance of wood in channel or any of that. yall have made me feel much more comfortable with the idea.
  20. ha .......I didnt even think of sand grit.......I was more worried about a tree limb dragging down the side of the boat.......
  21. I been thinking about making the jump to a fiberglass boat. what is the daily weekly monthly yearly care needed for the fiberglass hull?? also how easy or hard is it to scratch? ding up? knock a chunk of gelcoat out? knock a hole on the hull? crazy questions but things I fear. thanks
  22. I really like my 10# tatsu that I have on my spinning set up. when using KVD LL, no coils what so ever, and can feel "ticks" on a shakey head.........all you ever would want I guess.
  23. nice, what yall catching them on.........I swear one day I will start going to Pickwick.
  24. I would like 1/2 oz but I am sure many will say different. I fished with some friends last year in some current. It was the first time I ever had fished in current, it was a feeder "creek" off a river.......well I kept setting the hook into air ......and my buddies were laughing and asked why I kept setting the hook, and I said MY LINE IS MOVING, especially on the fall lmao. I then understood why they always used 1/2oz jigs.
