Broke bass fisherman

Back on topic. I would love a buying guide. I have fished all my life but never had anyone teach me what to buy or what to look for. Having something to reference would help me understand what the differences are and what would better suit me. Love the idea.

When fishing soft plastic lizards and other creatures are there any specific techniques or am I utilizing the same retrieves as i would with other soft plastics.

I have used spinning reels my whole life. I wanted to get feedback from you all on the advantages or disadvantages of bait casting reels. Should I look into a bait casting rig or stay with my spinning combos.

Figured as much but in your defense the bait was almost as big as the fish. I thought it was an eel but as I was doing research I couldn't find any pics of juvenile eels to compare it to. Thanks

I know what the bait is was asking about the eel. Is that what that is?

Caught this ugly sucker last year on a river in Charlottesville Va. Fishing all my life nece seen anything like it any ideas as to what this is?

I just bought a Humminbird 170 at walmart for 99.00. Works pretty well do far, dual beam, works at fast speed and seems to have a good response.

I, as my handle can attest to, am a cash strapped individual. I mostly do bank fishing at the moment, and am looking for suggestions on line and maintence I can perform on my spinning rigs to get more distance. As I said they are cheaper models. I know I need to invest in better gear but what can I do until then?

Hello and welcome. I'm fairly new to Va and the forum as well. The VGDIF has a pretty good website listing public access by county or body of water. It is what I have been using to get accustomed to the area.

Thanks. What rig are you using? Or do you switch through depending on cover? Fishing from the bank are there some prime spots to be looking for? I spent my entire childhood fishing from a boat so learning how to fish from the bank has a little bit of a learning curve.

Buzz baits. Love the splash and I feel it can get into to all the places I want it to go.
