  1. I actually LOL'd when the music first started. BUT, I made my self listen....I kind of like it. Honestly one of the biggest reason's I like it, is that it's nice to see someone making that music who isn't just into being a wanna be gang banger and/or ghetto.
  2. We won't rub it in either when we are catching 5lb footballs this spring, and it's already hot and humid there.
  3. Good video! I'm not sure why, but I've always bent my line over, and then inserted it into the hook eye, instead of one in, then loop, then back through. So obvious. I'm curious though. Why did so many people abandon the old fashioned Trilene knot? It is so quick and easy to tie, and tests as good or better than any other knot I've seen.
  4. Prevent is a tool to prevent long plays. But, it's usually only used by teams with the personal, that is sure to give up long plays. How often do you see Pittsburg, or Baltimore playing prevent, regardless of the situation? I always hated when people described a defense as a "bend but don't break" defense.....Which in reality meant a poor defense with a few good players on it.
  5. Best recommendation I have is to start on a simple reel. That is how I learned and gained confidence. I was pulling apart and cleaning Abu round reels when I was 12-13 years old. The difference between the guys that do it themselves, and the ones that don't is confidence that it will go back together as necessary.
  6. Us too. I wouldn't change a thing. But I'll still complain about how when they are "playing" they can shake the whole dang house on the foundation. Or when something breaks they think it is HILARIOUS. Overall though they are good boys though. I will say one thing. When everyone says that kids are expensive I usually think that is exageratted .....But we are finding the real expense with kids, is the cost of the things they break, or otherwise ruin.
  7. If you can't get parts from the parts department, check with greatlakesskipper.com
  8. Have you read Ike's book yet? That's a good read for sure. Mostly just a bio of sorts on Iaconelli, but you'll pick up some info throughout. Really good book IMO. Otherwise KVD's first book is pretty good. I've got some others, but those are about the only two I feel OK recommending.
  9. I would sell it for a good price too. Basically enough to cover a rod like I want, that is now on sale at BPS
  10. Working on my boat.....I'll have cabin fever but this one is going to keep me busy all winter. Also starting as a full time student after Christmas. I haven't been in school in going on 15 years, so I'm nervous. Otherwise I need to tie up an entire box of jigs. I might practice some air-brushing too. I've got all the stuff, even the air brush compressor.. Just haven't done it yet.
  11. Someone once told me to clean aquariums with salt. Never had one so not sure How I picked that up. Anyhow, that is what I've always used. Salt, and enough water to make a scrubbing paste, and then a BUNCH of water to rinse.
  12. I tried heating also. Wasn't impressed with the results....They just don't screw onto a lock worth a darn.
  13. Thanks, I'll try those.
  14. That mentality is a sure fire way to make it no fun to fish with certain individuals, or even clubs. Lets face it. Even guys that are REALLY good, aren't going to EVER even come close to fishing the classic. And guy's who think they are the next KVD, aren't fun to fish with or against.
  15. One other thing.....Some of the nice hard swimbaits are expensive items that a bunch of us will hold out for, just because of the cost. This makes them GREAT gifts. BTW, I'm amazed nobody has mentioned an Alabama rig. THAT would be a gift from a girlfriend that pays attention!
  16. Last Christmas my wife bought very specific things that I asked for for christmas. Lot's of soft plastic baits. I gave her a big list, knowing the list was far too big, and so that she could pare it down herself. Honestly, I thought it was so cool she went to Gander Mountain, found what I wanted and bought it, that I thought that was the best Christmas present ever. MUCH BETTER THAN A GIFT CARD. Find a way to go through his tackle. Write down what he has, and what colors, and buy that. Just the fact that his wife/girlfriend took the time to buy him fishing stuff vs the normal boyfriend/husband Christmas gifts will make it truly great. IMO, do the legwork (like your doing) and forget the gift card.
  17. Most any plastic will work depending on the conditions. Just remember it's just a jig head. The shakey head is only unique in that it is weedless (relatively) and forces the plastic to stand up. I've got a favorite, but for the most part, you can't beat a normal strait tail worm. BTW, one that might be a favorite of mine, IF I could figure a good way to rig it on a shakey head is the Strike King Perfect plastic finesse worms. That stuff is so soft, and flexible. Problem is, makes it IMPOSSIBLE to screw onto a screw lock, and is even hard to get a barb pushed into it.
  18. My top 3 would have had Montee Ball on it FOR SURE. Hard to argue with his production, and numbers.
  19. You would be willing to find a MUCH nicer color depth finder by buying used, vs new.
  20. I think I've got a couple ideas to tweak the presentation too. I can't wait myself.
  21. The president is below the supreme, and about the only other spinning reel I can think of with a long lasting reputation of reliability that even compares is probably a Diawa Tournament SS
  22. Any boat you take good care of is going to last a long, long time. Dry indoor storage, regular maintenance, and a glass boat will last for decades. Same for the engine. Now, buying used, IMO you are better going with aluminum IMO because you don't know the history of the boat. Glass boats can develop SERIOUS problems. Problems similar to what an aluminum boat can develop, but are MUCH simpler to fix in an aluminum boat. 100% composite constructing including stringers/transom, makes a glass boat much more appealing IMO.

I take it you don't deal with many kids Because I would say a BUNCH do.
  24. Maybe it's just the crankbait? Like I mentioned I only do it with some old Poe's flat/square billed cranks.

May sound stupid but I'm going to use the BB guns to help teach them about responsibility and discipline not just gun safety. I try to use everything I can as learning opportunities so that I don't just seem preachy.
