  1. fiy ur profile location isn't filled out so ur report just has heads scratching
  2. is your question more along the lines about changing from being a shore angler to a boat angler? if so what were ur preferred shore angler techniques/strengths?
  3. you'll learn to accept and be comfortable with the 'power and action' of ur preferred company. factors which will decided which company that is for you are many=comfort, balance, handle length, sensitivity, price etc. buy on sale and you'll be able to test the rod for a season and sell for close to the same price till you find ur favorite company
  4. well thought out combos. unfortunately they won't work. please mail them to me
  5. maybe dinner and a movie? or maintenance
  6. i'm more concerned with rate of fall than color. big difference between 3/4oz and 1.5oz falling. they can see a lot less in the darkness of dense weeds. this is a much different scenario than fishing a jig in clear open water where a bass can stared at ur lure for an extended period of time.3 the bottom content is also more important to me than color. you want to find a rocky/gravel bottom under those weeds. if you feel the clicking of ur tungsten against gravel you are usually in the right spot of the weed patch...bass should be biting shortly
  7. I think he mean's 'pitching' and needs a much shorter rod. you'll be far more accurate pitching with a 6'6"-7'2" rod. but GFRESH is spot on if you want a true flipping rod
  8. Thinking about pulling the trigger on one. Anyone like them? Gander Mt has casting & spinning 50% off and another 10% off st patty's day (code should auto fill in ur cart but if not: luckyten). plus you can fill out a rebate form for a $10 gift card. $199 rod for $80 tyd. bait monkey... https://secure.gandermountain.com/modperl/product/details.cgi?pdesc=Team-Lews-Speed-Stick-Casting-Rod-610-Medium-Light&i=781956&r=view
  9. 10XD Spambait in Ghost color
  10. this vid covers bigger baits than you have listed but the core concepts apply to ur lures (and any bass fishing technique for that matter).
  11. and then fathers day sale after that
  12. i've found 'chartreuse' crankbaits that were no longer chartreuse. they were more like 'Clear Sexy Shad' bass didn't mind
  13. ^this makes me happy are you a crappie fisherman or a crappie fisherman? where is 'fishing here' and is it located near 'L.o.w'? how will I know when I've gotten to L.o.w.?
  14. paging Ohio members. Can someone experienced take this fella out?!
  15. take it back or sell it to ur brother. to you it's heavier and tip heavy. not a good start. the only thing that could outshine those two qualities are an amazing tip that casts 50+ ft further. and i doubt the rods are that far apart in quality. always listen to ur gut instinct, with rods and women
  16. it's safe to say ur not going to be on Antique Roadshow anytime soon. but you've been given something far more valuable than money
  17. i had a lefty Curado for a minute. sold it immediately b/c it had a notch sticking out on the side of the brakes. it dug into my palm so much that it only took two outing for me to sell it. horrible design. not sure what the heck happened there. i think they eliminated it the next year. the shimano guys can probably tell you which past year to avoid getting it. you can see it on the bottom right of the left reel.
  18. and never step on decayed logs while hiking down a steep bank. you could quite possibly hear the crunch of the log ripping in half, the buzzing swarm of angry bees and the yelling of an angler getting stung over a dozen times
  19. it's fine to use as a 8ft leader w/ braid as ur main line.
  20. i don't buy into the stock. they tear apart like tissue paper and i've caught just as many fish on zoom finesse worms
  21. i'm with wnybassman, some days are good..some not so good. there is one thing that always remains the same, i get wet.
  22. I searched high and low for a video for 3 months to post on this thread its not gonna happen so i'm just gonna describe the technique and let others chime in to add to it. my friend was burning a buzzbait thru a lily pad field. normally very hard to do but his advice was to drop your rod tip and point it directly at the buzzbait. it takes all the pressure off the rod and prevents the rod from 'loading'. ur reeling a lure on line only which makes it easily deflect off everything ie lily stalks without loading or burring a hook into them. it works amazing for bank fishing b/c how many times do you have to cast over 20 ft of weeds, cover, timber muck etc to access open water. only problem is after ur finished fishing the productive water you still need to drag ur lure back thru the 20 ft of muck. you can save many lures by pointing ur rod tip directly at ur lure and reeling. DON'T be tempted to use ur rod even if you get hung up. Just keep reeling with more pressure and ur lure will pop free. Using ur reel and line only prevents the rod load that slowly buries hook point into objects. This works amazing for getting lures out of trees too (and for fly fishing). last season i switched to beavers as my jig trailer while shore fishing. you can use this technique while dragging a beaver jig thru tons of weeds/cover without losing claws every 5 min.
  23. Oklahoma is clearly m-u-c-h farther south than I previously thought! ie no ice!
  24. pssh i feed my smallies night crawlers out of my mouth
