Is this spool under-filled?
in that case strip off the braid and throw away the mono backing. put the braid on spool first. then add new mono backing to fill spool perfect. your line will be on backwards so tie to tree and follow steps to put line on correctly

Is this spool under-filled?
keep the braid on the spool right where it is. use a uni to uni knot (or albright) to connect some 10-12lb mono to the braid. Fill the spool the rest of the way with mono leaving 1/8" of spool bare. now go outside and tie the mono to a tree branch and walk off all the line. go back to the tree and tie the mono to spool. reel line in keeping tension on it with fingers. your spool will be perfectly filled

Targets while pitching
I start out pitching very fast: many pitches with 2-3 hops before reeling in and re-pitching to a different part of the cover. The trick is to choose dramatically different targets in dramatically different depths: timber, ledges, rocks, points, grass in 2, 6, and 10 ft of water. if I quickly cast that kind of variety/depth and they don't bite I start the process over but slow down and let the jig marinade until it annoys them into biting. this is target fishing so no need to work the lure all the way back to boat.

Settle a bet for me
to expand on this...the fastest way to expose these line issues/half loops/twists is to cast into a good stiff wind

Lightning while fishing?
- Mayweather vs. McGregor Who ya got?
Mcgregor is a 3-4 round athlete. Add in the fact that he's all heart and he'll be gassed by the 6th. Mayweather can easily pot shot points for a win on the scorecards but will push for a KO if he sees the opportunity. Contrary to everyone's belief there is a much better chance of Mayweather winning by KO than McGregor.- Boxing is dead, or dying ?
Gennady Golovkin vs Canelo Alverez should be in the top 5 fights of the year. let's face it, we love to see knockouts. there are so many knockouts in MMA b/c so many guys aren't trained well in boxing. makes it more exciting but it's no sweet science. true enthusiasts appreciate both.- Solo canoe paddling
like Goose said ur trying to use the worst possible technique for ur situation. Maybe try: -cast and retrieving ur crankbaits -buy a kayak -rig a redneck rudder -get an old or even broken trolling motor on craigslist to attach; it will act as a rudder- What's your style?
Like A-Jay my style has evolved over the years. First I was a chuck and wind guy. Then I was a slow and low marinade guy. Now I'm a high percentage area only guy. The smartest thing I ever did was put the rods down, stop fishing, and use the egg between my ears. I paddle/troll forward 100 yards to pick the best 3 spots to fish. You don't need to cast every inch of water in the lake...only the high percentage spots. And you don't need to catch every bass in the lake...only the biggest girls.- 10lb or 15lb braid for ultra lite setup?
I'd just keep using the 15lb you have. you have the option to put on a 2-4-6lb leader which is most important. yes you might gain some casting distance with 10lb or even 5lb but to me the losses far outweigh the gains. i put 5lb on my crappie/trout rod and it's been a disaster. i mainly cast with it so i'm continually encountering timber, rocks, docks etc. Cover severely compromises light braid. I've broken off multiple nice bass and it snaps like butter when even trying to unsnag a light wire crappie jig. imo 3-5lb braid should only be used for vertical jigging in open water where you won't get any abrasions. 15lb braid will keep a smile on you face when you hook into a bigger multi species fish. vs the look of sorrow and defeat from light braid snapping. i currently have some 10lb on rods but when it's gone I will only fish 15lb+. Even when crappie/trout fishing I'd still like my equipment to be able to land a 5lb bass, 10lb catfish or 20lb carp. i guess that means my 'ultralight' set up is modified a bit.- Live bait
This x10. Of course each body of water is different but I find this to hold true at 95% of locations. Private ponds might be the exception b/c bass can occupy/dominate every nook and cranny of it.- Sad when you need to use Live bait
likely b/c ur fishing from shore and can't cast to them anymore b/c they moved deep. bass will travel for a juicy bluegill but don't want to expend the energy for a tube/senko etc. eliminate everything else and only fish where the deep water meets shallow so it's within casting distance. SM are notorious for coming long distances for the right lure. Speed up instead of slowing down. Try fast moving spooks, burning spinnerbaits as fast as you can just subsurface, slashing hard/soft jerkbaits etc. and buy a kayak.- The future of our reservoirs.

Welcome. Let me know if you ever want to meet up. I most of SNJ..usually from Deptford down to Bridgeton- Week Killer in Lakes
I've read both good and bad things about copper sulfide. Depending on the body of water I've seen the bite negatively affected for days to weeks. But the most consistent observation: as soon as they treat the water the super easy/fun fishing days are over for awhile. Yes they are still there but you have to work harder for them.- Hank Parker's Summer Fishing Tip - New Video!

I'm all for being a good steward of the land but these tall tales keep getting taller- Greatest Weakness?
I'd always say "Spelling. I'm a horrible speller so thank goodness for Microsoft spell check. I never send a document without using it." Turn that question into your favor.- My lake is tough.
if the water is that clear do not walk up to the water's edge. instead stand 15-20 ft back and gently flip a senko into the waters edge. I get some strange looks for fishing so far away from the water but it's necessary in tough conditions, especially when you first arrive at a new spot. also use trees and bushes to hide behind as you approach spots. even if you spook fish stand still behind a tree for 4-5 mins and they will return/relax.- Underwater creek channel
oh don't be such a killjoy Tom apparently the steam is hydrogen sulfide (H2S), a layer separating the freshwater and saltwater. it's where the Cenote Angelita river channel enters the Black Sea from the Bosphorus Strait. "Is it really an underwater river? In short, no. The weight of hydrogen sulfate causes it to sink below the fresh water giving it the appearance of another body of water. Trees, leaves, and other debris cover the “banks” at the bottom of the freshwater layer, which resemble a riverside. The layer of hydrogen sulfate is heavy enough that it is able to move independently of water, thus appearing as a river with its own current." - Mayweather vs. McGregor Who ya got?
