  1. See Raider, we are back to you using shaving lotion. Now ask SLONEzp what he would use over an after work cocktail. I'm sure Brute would be mentioned but maybe Aqua Velva might pop up in the conversation, maybe even English Leather . You are still my favorite "swave and deboner" poster. You make BR cultured.
  2. It's a Shimano, what else would expect but perfection?
  3. Trilene XL on spinning tackle and XT on bait casting. Also take a good look at P-line cxx. Great strength to diameter.

If "Slonezp" and the "Raider" got together on a construction project, what would happen? First we have "Raider" with his smooth talking, high culture persona and "Slonezp" with his ultra conservative views on everything. I could see them getting together after work and discussing things like: What aftershave do you use or how do you hide your grey hair. Maybe Raider would say " Why won't the Bears give Cutler to the Raiders? and "Slonezp would say " We don't want to make the Raiders any worse than they are now. The job that they are working on would probably be done right, but I would love to be the "fly on the wall" on that construction site. There are some great posters on BR but "slonezp" and the "Raider" keep us on the edge of our seat waiting for their next great observation on life.
  5. Raider, what I most like about you,, is the class and dignity you bring to BR. You are truly the Martha Stewart of the BR family. Carry on.
  6. Raider, I don't think anyone was "bashing" the union. To began with, Stcroix stated in the OP that he was worried that if he outed his "brother" that his fellow workers would not vote for him in an upcoming union election. I'm not bashing the union, I'm simply pointing out that he seems to be more worried about his future in the union than the safety of his union "brothers" This was not about unions but about Stcroix covering his butt. To began with, it was a really dumb post. When you have a whole lot of folks who are not really excited about unions and have Stcroix say " At least he still has his job" when he doesn't know if the guy is still showing up for work drunk, then you have given a reason for the folks to question the "brotherhood" culture. My feeling is that Stcroix, started this post with the hope of everyone feeling sorry for him and he exposed himself as being more interested in his advancement than his "brothers" welfare. By the way, I really like all your attempts to bring culture to BR. You are the Martha Stewart of BR. Or, maybe the Alfred E Newman. And your first round draft choice really sucked. Go Packers .
  7. Tell us how much you wish to spend and we will turn you over to the " bait monkey"
  8. If he is still drinking and coming to work like you described. Then no, it's not good that he still has a job. Brotherhood over safety , what a crock. You may get enough votes for that higher union position you are seeking though. But at what cost ?
  9. I have a super dumb question: I just spent the better part of an hour (nothing on tv and am bored) reading this thread. I can understand adding parts, ie: new handles, gears, bearings etc. However, doing custom "paint jobs" on a fishing reel to match the rod? My fishing arsenal: 8 Shimano bantam 101's, purchased between '97 and '05. 2 Shimano Stradic 100's purchased in '96.(wood handles) 1 Shimano Stradic 4000 purchased in 2001, 3 Shimano Stradics 2500's purchased in '05-06. All mounted on St Croix Premier rods. All of the reels were $120.00 and all the rods were $80.00. I am retired and fish 80-100 days a year. I spend 2-3 weeks every spring fishing the southern "top 100" ie: Guntersville, Ky. Lake. Rayburn, Tablerock, Toho, Big "O" etc. None of my reels have ever been touched by a repair man. I clean and lube them every spring and fish all summer. Not one of these reels has ever failed me. When I was on Guntersville in March, the guide made a comment: " Those old "green" Shimanos never quit do they" Just give me my "old green" Shimanos and old Stradics and I'm a happy (fisherman) camper.
  10. There is no spring in Wis. Going from winter to summer (Ihope). Today is the opening day of fishing season and the lakes in the northern 1/3 of the state still have ice.
  11. Not Union bashing. If your idea is to move up in the union, then I think your far better off protecting your "brothers" from a drunk hurting them instead of protecting him from being fired. In my" non union" mind, this is a no brainer. What is so hard for you to understand about protecting your "brothers" from this obvious danger. I still think your more concerned about moving up in the union than your concern about what could happen to your "brothers" If you want, I will go back to your "OP" It says it all. Don't bother e-mailing me again, I have just reread your OP. You are more about your advancement in the union, than your concern about your "brothers"
  12. It looks to me as though you are more concerned about your "brothers" learning that you turned him in and not voting for your advancement in the union, than having any real concern about your "brothers" safety. You said that some others have come to you with concern about safety and you didn't do anything. I sure would not vote for you if that were the case. I think your really more concerned about YOUR advancement than anything else. So sad.
  13. JBsooner: "You do realize we are the melting pot, don't you". You bet your sweet patoote I do . My family came from England, Ireland, Germany and Bulgaria, I am as American as you can get. My Bulgarian Grandfather, who came to this country in 1895 @ 15, refused to teach me any Bulgarian because we "speak English here" Even though 2 of the 4 spoke a form of English, they all had to learn American. They did and they became great Americans. Worked hard, had many kids who served in WW2, Grandkids who served in "Nam" and great grand kids who served in the mid east. Don't give me the "melting pot BS about learning English. If you want to live here,. learn our language.
  14. Easy man, your loosing it. If you want to speak owl, go right ahead, but whoo, whoo, is going to understand you.
  15. "you get upset with him and hang up because this is America" That has got to be the, Nah, I'm not going to go there. I hope you understand what I did not say>
  16. In that case, what would you suggest we speak?
  17. Len22, How many fishermen you know, lay bunches of bananas on the bottom of their boat, fresh from South America. This is an "old wives tales" thread. Ya know like, "wind from the west, fish bite best" not where did the logic of no "bananas" in the boat came from. I believe, this was supposed to be a fun thread not a gotcha thread.
  18. Swampstud, This thread is a listing of " old wives tales" not reality. We're just having fun with all the old ideas or I guess ideals that fishermen had years ago. Although, the bananas thing if sort of new, and dumb.
  19. Have done it many times with 3 kids and 7 grandchildren. I have tried many lines but for kids it is only 6 lb. Berkley trilene xl.
  20. Don't ever, and I mean don't you ever, catch a fish on the first cast of the day. Something evil is happening. Just pack up and go home. I now make my first cast on the boat ramp into my live well.
  21. Been following this thread for almost a year. I hope you all, ( notice I didn't say Yall) ,have a great get together. I thought about attending, but I was down on Guntersville for almost 3 weeks in March and now I am into grandkids time: swim meets, twins birthday party and first communion. I will watch for next year. Again, have a great event , catch a bunch of fish, enjoy the food and friends and be safe.
  22. Danarchry, where did you come up with mid 60's in the backwaters of the Mississippi? The river temps are in the low to mid 40's. Go to Lake-Link and look at pool #9 posts. I have a cabin 70 mi. north of Green Bay. There is still about 24" of snow up there. and most lakes still have 18-24 of ice. Ya, there is at some melting on the shore because of the angle of the sun, but I will bet you that most lakes north of "29" will still have ice for the fishing opener on May 3. The 10 day weather for N/E Wis. is highs in the 40's/low 50's and half of the night temps. below "32" I will also bet that the LM will still be spawning in late June and the SM will still be still be spawning in late July like they did in 2010. 60's in the backwaters of the Mississippi, No freeking way.
  23. I'll bet the name of the lake is "Bass". There are 47 "Bass" lakes on maps in Wis.
  24. Look for the yellow flowers on the flooded banks. Fish them with black/blue, pumpkin, TR lizards. Great time to be fishing down there. Good Luck
