  1. I have 8 Curado bantam 101's. Bought the 1st. in "97 and last '04. Other than a yearly cleaning, they have never seen a repair shop. Still work like the day I bought them. I would say I got my moneys worth considering how much I fish. Same with the Stradic, 2 100s-3 2500s and 1 4000. last one purchased in '06. By the way, all were $120.
  2. 4 lb. P-line cxx is pretty darn tough stuff
  3. Ike, on the Delta with a bitzy style jig and 5 in. do nothing worm . What year?
  4. What year? Denny Brauer on a black "unknown brand" tube
  5. 2000, Whoo Daves, Chicago, watermelon Zoom tube
  6. Those Lazy Ikes in that retired box need to be fished. Show them a little love and they'll love ya back. edit: I looked again at the picture, they're flatfish (double front hook) Same advice though.
  7. Isn't this why all the pro's have sponsors? The boat wraps, the truck wraps, the jerseys with all those sponsor's patches. "And I want to thank Triton, Ranger, Mercury," etc. I don't know how long it's been since any of the pro's won a tourney with a Zoom "whatever" but lots of them have Zoom patches and Zoom sells tons of soft plastic every year. How about 4 million for a 30 second Superbowl" add. Advertising sells. It's the American way.
  8. When I started bass fishing in the 90's my favorite lure was a Texas rigged worm ( a plum Berkley power worm). I joined a website called "probass" and when Berkley stopped making the plum color, reached out to members of "probass" to find me some of that color. Within a week, I had 3 guys who had found bags of a hundred plum power worms and sent them to me.. Just had to stay with plumworm. Still have about 100 of them and they still work great on the Mississippi pools 9/10.
  9. Hold on a minute, I fish and have fished a whole lot of lakes around the US. The very idea that the "Pro's are on a lake and everyone else should kowtow to them is at best absurd. I don't mean that you should try to fish where they are fishing, but the fact that they are fishing for $300K means that I can't fish on the same lake. That's BS. Too many times I have been fishing when guys fishing a club tourney, or Bfl or a"whatever" tourney have invaded my water with the excuse that they are fishing a tourney and their fishing is more important than mine. Just because you have money on the line and I am fishing for fun does not give you the right to invade my water. And to Randy Howell, a big congats.
  10. After watching him today, I agree. What a really nice guy with a great family. True American with values.
  11. I enjoy being on here, however, we have 36+ inches of ice and my brain has been frozen in time since the last time I was on the water in October. Things are going to change though. I'm heading for a 2 week trip to Guntersville on the 6th. of March.
  12. You can't be a "cheesehead" and a "fib". You need to choose. Welcome, but you need to make up you mind. You want to be a Bear fan or a Packer fan. What is it? Come on, come on ,what is it? LOL.
  13. I use 10 lb. p-line cxx on my crank rods and spinnerbait rods. What I like about it is, 10 lb. diameter and 16-18 lb. strength.
  14. Plastics, you aint got no plastics. You can count the number of bags you have. You don't count plastics, you weigh them. If your plastics don't cause your boat to list a few degrees to port or starboard you don't have enough. If you don't have 15-20 plastic shoe boxes of "extras" and "fill ins" in your man cave, you don't have enough plastics. If you don't have 3 bags of pb&j and 3 bags of sour grape Zoom 7" u-tail worms ( their the same color) you don't have enough plastics. If you don't have plum and plum/apple and plum/red and plum/blue, whatever , you don't have enough plastics. Come on man, get with it. The bait monkey is not doing his job. You need at least 30-40 more lbs. of plastics to catch up with us. Nice looking tackle though.
  15. I've been using All-Terrain swim jigs for about 10 years. I really like them. However , after hearing all the members accolades for Siebert jigs, my next order will be with them. My problem is, I know what I want to order with All-Terrain and I've been on the Siebert website. I want the same style I've been using and need to match it to the Siebert line up.
  16. Three for a dollar and enough salt to keep Lake Michigan from freezing over. I use the spice packet to make pickles because they taste good, and they pickle well. However, there are 3.2 million college students who are alive because of them.
  17. Back in the day, when we didn't need to edit most of what our kids watched, It was M-I-C-K-E-Y, M-O-U-S-E. We didn't have to worry about Li-lo and Miley and the other "babes" of Disney who became sex pistols. I have an 8 year old granddaughter who adores "Justin fruitcake" Is it O.K. to just turn off the t.v. when that 19 year "what ever he is"comes on? I know, Elvis, Beatles, etc. We all grew up with Annette, but while she was growing up, so were we. Disney, I just don't anymore.
  18. You are on a bass fishing website, Be bold, do a report about how fishing supports the economy. How much fisherman pay in taxes for equipment, boats, tackle. How our license fees pay for conservation. How little the power boaters and jet ski dudes, contribute to the resource. Earn your grade by doing the research .Good luck.
  19. The one thing I really like about MLF is the pure emotion of the fisherman. They let it all hang out. But you only see it on the "extended cast" programs.
  20. Speaking of GYBC, Has anyone tried to buy from their website? I have 4 items that I really like from GYBC that I used to buy from Cabela's or BPS, They no loner carry these items. So, I went to the GYBC website and tried to order them. Got through the size, color, add to cart, etc and then tried to order and pay for them and that was it, No way could figure out how to finish the transaction. Any Ideas?
  21. Good Luck. Being able to write well is a gift. Remember what Hemingway said, " I just want to be able to write one true sentence" Took him about 30+ years, but, I guess he got it right. Best to you.
  22. The double duce is why I am always late to get on the lake. Iffin I get up at 5am or 6 or 7, It still takes 2 cups of coffee and 10 minutes of "thinking about it" to get the job done. Then, I am good for the day. Oh ya, food, Lots of water, a sammie if its all day, jerky, hard candy ,and my ever present little cigar. ( it's like food to me) How did I just make this post go down hill? Oh ya, now I remember. Who brought up the double duce to began with . Sorry
  23. I read about 100-125 books a year. I was a proof reader for a good friend, who wrote 7 books. Maybe some of you know him as the author of the "Major" back page stories in "Shooting Sportsman" Magazine, Galen Winter. It is not that tough to edit and correct an article. Most folks who publish a magazine should have enough editorial skills to correct basic spelling and grammar errors. If you publish a story without at least editing the spelling and grammar, you are doing a lousy job of editing and your magazine should suffer.
