Green Bay
Jigfish, I was at the '67 Ice Bowl. It isn't as cold as you might think. Back then . both ends of the stadium were wide open and the wind would blow right through. Now it is a full bowl and 70K+ fans get real cozy during games like this. As long as you can keep your feet and face warm, it's not bad.

Riddle Me This, Why?
Bassh8ter, I have a bunch of rogues (probably 20 or so) that I bought in the 2005-2008 era. They have super sharp hooks . My question was not about Rougues, but why don't lure companies put quality hooks on lures to began with and not suggest that the buyer replace the hooks. To me that is dumb. Buy a new $35,000 car and replace the tires because we wanted to go cheap?

Strange Thought But I Was Curious
Jan. 1, 2014. I just bought my 2.nd 4 gal. can of gas for my snowblower. According to the National Weather Guessers, we have had 26" of snow so far this year, however, I have about 30" in my yard. Last year I used just 4 gal. for the whole year. Ya, we have global warming, it just don't happin at my house. Weather for the next 10 days, The high+ 15, the low -18. Monday 1 /6 , high -10, low -18.Wind chill factor,-34. I'm going out tomorrow and buy a case of Knob Creek and a box of good cigars and spend the next week or so on my pukeputer talking to you guys and watch Obamacare go down the poopchute.

American Made Baby Stuff
From a dad of three and grandfather of 7, buy the best you can afford. Car seats and cribs are not going to be cheap but the kids are priceless.

Chinese Crankbaits
I bought a few of those lures at a fishing show years ago, they had great colors, however, the action was ($#@&^^%$#) you get what you pay for. Give them a try, just don't send them to the "wounded warriors fishing program" when you discover how bad they are.LOL.

Riddle Me This, Why?
Strike King and KVD develop new lures every year ( this is not just about Strike King) and the first thing KVD says is change the hook on your new lure. What my question is, if I pay $5.99 for a Red Eye Shad, why not put quality hooks on the lure to began with and charge $.50 more. I have to go out and spend $3.00-$4.00 for 5 quality hooks to replace the hooks on a new lure. I would think that most fisherman would be willing to pay $.50 more to not have to go through the BS of changing hooks. The exception is Smithwick, Every time I fish with Rogues, I have bloody hands. Am I "nuts" or is this a fair question? I'm sure that SK and any other lure company could make agreements with great hook providers and be proud of using their hooks.

Take My Own Gear?
You can hire a good guide on Toho in Orlando for a whole day 8-10 hours for $350. That price for 2 hours is a ripoff.

So, It's Cold
It's only -5 tonite, wind chill just -17-18. The boat has been in bed for a month. 15 rods are leaning against the wall and the reels are safely residing in their winter box with drags turned off. I spent a week setting up a 2 week trip to Guntersville in March, Hired guide Troy Jens and booked a cabin. Now I don't know what to do for the next 3 months.I am well passed ordering tackle ( the bait monkey died when I counted 350 bags of plastics,300+ cranks and 10 lbs. of lead. I think 60 spinnerbaits is enough already. Don't you?) I don't commit ice fishing, I don't roam the halls of a new Cabellas just a few blocks away, I sit in my man cave , hang on the pukeputer and just look for anything that will get me through the next few months. However, in just a couple of weeks, the new BPS and Cabellas catalog will be showing up in the mail and I will spend way too much time ordering all the things I think I must have to catch that d**n bass. Thanks to all of you guys on BR . We may get through this .

Weirdest Thing You've Reeled In
Yellowstone River, Yellowstone Park, A pelican took a 3 lb. trout along with a $50 fly line. Mississippi River pool #10 a 4 lb. bullfrog ate a salad spoon and we ate him. Kentucky Lake: caught 2 rod/reel combo's in the same bay on the same afternoon on a shakeyhead. Both trashed. Lake Michigan: a 4 ft. piece of re-bar in 30 ft. of water felt like a huge salmon. Local lake: a 4 ft. snapping turtle scared the bejesus out of my 80 y.o. Dad. And once in awhile, I even catch a fish.

Fly Tying With Pheasant Feathers?
Marabou, available at arts and craft shops, is very easy to work with and very cheap to start out with. As you progress, you can use more exotic feathers.

Help From Guntersville Fisherman
My buddy and I are planning a 2 week trip to fish Guntersville in March. A few questions: Is March a good time?, Do you know of anyone who has a cabin or cottage on the water to rent?, The name of a good guide ( one who does not charge his clients to watch him fish. This has happened to me too many times). We have fished Rayburn 5 times, Ky. Lake 3 times, Table Rock twice, Toho, Big O and a few other Fla. lakes. We are both retired and enjoy a private cottage instead of a resort. We are looking at the 2nd.-3rd week in March but are able to adjust our timing. Feel free to tell me what you really think ie: time of year etc. Thank you for any and all response.

Has Anyone Ever Been A Marshall In A Bass Tournament?
check your e-mail on Monday. They always put you on a waiting list on weekends. Next work day they will get back to you. Just remember, if you don't like to go 70 mph in a boat it can be a bad, day if the water is rough.

Best Pliers Under $100
Needle nose: $2.00 at Dollar store, I buy a half dozen at a time and they are all over the boat. Braid scissors $5 at BPS 2-3 pair in the boat. Side cutters, $2.00 at Dollar store, one pair on deck, one in tool box. Hemostat, 1 8" pair for deep hooked fish. don't remember what they cost but under $10.00. Give them a shot of WD40 couple of times a year and they last forever. Under $40.00 for all these tools and if I drop one over the side I don't loose $100.00 and I have a replacement close by.

Is Dropshoting Legal In Michigan?
I understand that in the last Bassmaster tourney in Michigan that a lot of boats ran to other states and Canadian waters, however some of the fisherman stayed in Michigan including KVD and fished the dropshot. Is it legal or not? I'm heading up to the U.P. for a week of smallie fishing and would love to fish a dropshot. Thanks for any answers.

Sentimental Gear
I have both of my grandfathers fly rods that date back to the 30s and 40s. They were the people who got me started fishing back in late 40s. I have them on a wall at my cabin along with their wicker creels, fly boxes. and fishing hats. I didn't become a bassaholic. until I was in my 50s when I couldn't wade anymore. Gave all my fly fishing gear to my kids and bought a boat. Then the bait monkey took over.
