  2. Been wondering about swimming a senko, haven't tried it yet but I will now. Thanks for the post.
  3. Got it, thanks. I assumed we were talking about pegging the weight further up from the bait.
  4. Once you peg a weight it becomes, in essence, a carolina rig. Am I right on this?
  5. That hook was awful, took forever it get it to a point.
  6. Tried some Sunline Sniper recently, spooled on about 100 feet backed by braid. I like the clarity, the abrasion resistance and the fact it sinks but was surprised how stiff it was, had a lot of problems with it even using a line conditioner. Removed it and replaced with YZ Ultrasoft. I'll continue using it for short leaders but that's the extent of it for me.
  7. Here's the tire age code: 4 numbers, the first two address the week of mfg, the 2nd two note the year. i.e.: 2612 means the 26th week of 2012.
  8. It's a great line, been using it for several years. Too bad it's getting so hard to find. Recently stocked up with 1800 yards of 8# and 10#, thinking about getting some more. Does it deteriorate with age, assuming proper storage?
  9. Just replaced a trailer tire that wouldn't hold air although it had very little tread wear. Turns out that tires have a mfg. date stamped on them. Checked the date on the new tire and it was 2314, meaning the 23rd week of 2014. It was already two years old just sitting on the shelf. The staff at the shop were very helpful, called around to several other places to find a newer one, they were all 2 years old already but he finally found one dated 2415, a year newer My old tire was from 2002 although I had had purchased it in 2007 w/o knowing they were dated. Given that trailer tire treads don't usually wear out and it's the age of the tire that determines its life, it behooves the customer to check on the date of the "new" tires they purchase. Valuable lesson here.

This is really interesting, I just assumed they kept dropping the longer you waited and they stayed at that depth. Completely changes my approach to these baits.
  11. This is a must-do for any mechanical repair, thumbs up for instant feedback digital cameras.
  12. There may be some truth in that. Not necessarily control, but lunar phases do affect it.
  13. Thanks for the heads-up. Been hearing about pointers for several years but couldn't handle the $16.95 price. Just picked up 4 @ $4.99. Now I can be "one of the boys".
  14. You're fishing in 50 mph gusts? That's incredible. I'm in agreement with Josh Smith. If all I'm doing is fighting to keep position it kills the fun factor.
  15. Hula Grubs are pretty hard to beat. Haven't tried any of the Rage baits yet but I'll check them out based on your recommendation.
  16. You're not alone on this. I can do a good job IF I CAN SEE THE TRAILER thru the back window, but with mirrors, every move I make is the opposite of what I need. I'm sure I could work it out if I spent some time but ……….
  17. Yo-Zuri Ultrasoft has always been somewhat difficult to find, don't know why, it's a great mono/hybrid. Too bad they stopped making it.
  18. Thanks for addressing this, I wondered how much main line was really needed.
  19. Anyone using a swivel on these? I've found that they twist the line up pretty badly without one.
  20. Thanks Bb, it's a 6501. I also have the same size C4. Heavier lures are definitely easier to cast with these reels. Thanks JS - I do like the looks of these reels. Thanks DVT - I prefer spinning tackle on the lighter lures also. I appreciate the feedback from everyone, now I have fewer qualms about sticking with them.
  21. Oh…….that changes everything.
  22. I've had an Abu C3 bait caster for several years because I always wanted one when I was a kid. How do these reels perform relative to the newer class of bait casters from, say, Shimano, Lew's, or Okuma? I've never used one of the newer reels and just wondered how differently they perform.
  23. Thanks for the link, great information from the original creator.
  24. Anyone remember that awful hook on the Johnson Silver Minnow? That was a lure that screamed for an upgrade but it was soldered on.
  25. Seems to happen regularly with brand-new Rapala DT 10's.
