  1. i agree ,,, but i use a 7ft heavy fast for froggin ... the croix LTB frog rod ... this rod is crisp on the hook set .... i can hook those fast bites really well ... i feel if you go with a longer stick you may miss the fast bites ... for most other top waters i use a 7ft med fast stick ... this is just what works for me ...
  2. if i were you id get 7ft med-hev fast action rod for plastics and a 7ft med mod for cranks ... thats just what id get ...
  3. id say the zillon ... i have the fuego and zillion ... the zillion is a smother reel ...
  4. i agree 100% ... see those of us who bass fish know about what a bass weighs ... and even we are wrong when we call the weight of a bass at times .... heres a funny story last season i was bassin at a local lake ... i was tossing that spro frog ... i hooked a 5lber it measured in at 20inces ... there was a guy there watching me catch the bass and he even went and took a peek at what frog i was useing ... long story short ,, i ran into the same guy this last sunday ... i said have you seen any big bass caught here before i remembered he was the guy watching me catch that hog last season ... he said ya i saw a guy catch a 25inch 8lber right over there ... then he said wasnt that you ... he said the guy was using a blue rod ,,, like the one you are using ... i thought about it and yea that was me ... but that bass wasnt no 8lbs nor was it 25 inches .... i just smiled and said yea that was me ...
  5. yea gander carries it here too .. as well as sportsmans ,, and dicks ... i also seen it at a few ma and pop tackle shopps .... i did see some on clearance at gander but it was 6-10lb i believe ,,, i didnt see any higher lb ratings in the bin ... unless they all sold out ??
  6. i still like mega strike ... but i will be getting a garlic spray to spray over the mega strike
  7. yea i agree with Natural ... thats the new CU ,, shimano didnt sell the amount of reels they did in the past ... IMO the cu was the reel that slowed in sales .... so i bet they drop the price of this reel .... it very interesting ....
  8. i have 3 zillions ... i think they are sweet reels ... the best ive ever baught ,,, so far ....
  9. ok so whats the modle number ... of the skeet reese rod you guys are useing ???
  10. i love gander ... i go there when i have a few bucks to spend and want some baits ... you have to check the bins close ... the best buys are in the bargin bins ... ive found mans cranks ,, manns stone jigs ,,, baby boo jigs ,,, tungusten weights ,, and a ton of other great baits ... the manns cranks were like 1.89 and the stone jigs were a buck same as the baby boo jigs THE TUNGSTON WEIGHTS WERE 2.50 ,, i always check the bins ... most times i go to the bins first ....great way to stock your box
  11. ok so i geuss i have a question .... i have a cranking stick from st croix ... i have the 7ft med-hev mod big cranker .... the stick is sweet ,, however im not sure it could handle the big fat free shads .... so im in a bind id like to get a cranking stick that will handle the fat free shads and other deep cranks ,,, say 13-20ft deep .... id like to look into the carrot stick ,, however im not sure witch one would handle the deep cranks well ... i want ample power to get good hook sets ... or i was also looking at the skeet reese cranking stick ,, however not sure i want a glass rod ???? help
  12. you shouldent have any trouble tossin a weightless senko with a baitcster any baitcaster :-? ... my zillions will will toss senkos a country mile ....
  13. dont worry when a bass hits your lure you wont miss it ... avids are sweet sticks ... if st croix didnt make the legened tourney bass series id fish the avids NO DOUBT .... enjoy its a great rod ... that was my favorte spinning rod i ever had that 6ft6 med fast
  14. may wanna look at the legened tourney bass series of rods from st croix ... they have a few rods in the series that are teles and would be great for flipping and pitching /// also they have one in the avid series that would be cheaper but still a great rod ...
  15. id say the legened tourney bass .... but what rod do you have ??? what weight of baits do you plan on tossing ???? what line will you be using ??? but over all the LTB rods are sc4 graphite witch is almost the best graphite they build on ... the legened elite is sc5 witch is the best ... so im geussing the ltb would be better if you are useing the rite ltb rod .. i do have a few 5 to be exact ... i use them because i love the blanks great feel and strong ....
  16. dont forget the spro frogg ... i like the ribbits , cane toads , horney toads ... in that order .. but i almost always get the big bites on a spro frog ... what i like to do is use the ribbits as a serch frog to find where the bass are once i hook a bass or get a blow up i switch and start throwing the spro ... i do this on the slop /// in open water ill use a ribbit before a buzz bait almost every time ... not sure why ,,, but i do ...
  17. my first pick would always be a spook i mean for most fishing ... id get 2or3 of the sway-back spooks ... they seem big but the bass just hammer them ... ohh if you get a spook add a big o-ring to the line tie ,,, then tie your line to the o-ring ... you will get easy action this way .. i also picked the sway backs cause they walk the dog easy
  18. they are for me ;D
  19. im in green bay area .... i mainly do my bass fishing north of here ... however i fish the locals when i cant make it north ... ;D
  20. that would be freeking sweet ... we could log our fish catches throught the year .... and people could comment on the pics ... man thats a great ideal Jeff ... now what would be supper sweet is if we could get movies up ... like what LBH did ...
  21. i dont wanna bash loomis in any way here ,,,, loomis does make killer rods ..... however i believe they really missed the mark with thier frog rod .... the rod is a tank ,, way too much cork .... the rod isnt crisp in the hook set at all .... some may like the rod and thats fine .... IMO spend the extra 50 bucks and get the st croix legened tourney bass rod .... this rod is way liter in over all weight .... super strong ... real crisp on the hook sets .... you wont find a better frog rod IMO ... and i have fished a few different frog rods including the loomis ,,,, all were sold off execpt the croix ....
  22. ghost ,,, the cxx is a great line tough as heck ... but i can tell you its not the best choice for spinning gear .... for spinning gear id recomened eighter p-line cx or p-line flourclear .... i prefer the flour clear ... 8lb would be great ...
  23. get the teaser ... its the 7ft med fast LTB rod ... great stick .... it would be great for smallys ... if i had to go with a shorter stick id get the 6ft6 med fast ... thats if you plan on fishing tight rivers where a shorter stick would really excell
  24. i have oakleys ... they are great ,, there are alotta cheaper pairs out there ... but i still l0ve my oakleys ... i have the oil drums ... i have had a few other nice pairs but the oakley really seem nice ... the oil drums have big thick sides that block out the lite from the side and they have big lenses that give great protection ... i have the amber black iridium lenses ,,, love them they really work well in clear to gin clear waters ... they really take the glare off the water ... great for sight fishing in clear waters .... people may bagg on oakleys but i bet most that bag on them have never even worn a pair out fishing ... ;D
  25. gold star will cover the rod ... i used this warrenty once ,,, i payed 20 bucks pluse the difference for the step up ... 3 days later there was a ltb rod on my porch .... give them a call they will take care of you ,,, i bet you spend less than buyin a new stick
