"Fishing show season" ended about 2 months ago on the channels that normally show them. New years day generally starts the beginning of "fishing show season". MLF, Zona, Bass Pros, and something else all start the first week(ish) of January every year.

No...this is the highest level of competition for football. The goal for every team each season isn't to be mediocre, it's to win it all. Teams don't come out week 1 and just say "let's do our best guys and just shoot for .500". This isn't JV football...these guys play to win because they love the game. Minor victory..sure. But it's minor at best to make the playoffs and not advance. You play to win. Anybody can win on any given day and every team knows that which is why they go into a playoff game not with the notion "well we made this far, losing is okay.." but to win.... Again...these guys don't play to lose. This isn't a hard concept. Anything less than a victory to these guys is unacceptable. This is their job and livelihood and they want to be the best. I don't really know another way to put it. Nobody in the NFL wants a participation trophy. Absolutely nobody in here is promoting "winning at all costs". I have no idea where you got that from but you can take your tin foil hat off on that one.....

How is that notion silly? The goal of each and every single organization is to win the super bowl. Regardless of the pre season expectations (or lack their of), every team goes out there to win it all. "Let's win it all" is always the motivator for every team, especially for teams not expected to make it. This is why you hardly if ever see teams that are 3-12 in week 16 just give up. They are there to play and win. If Carolina goes 15-1 or even 16-0 and loses in the NFC championship or even loses the Super Bowl, they obviously have a great season to hang their hat on but anything short of getting that far and winning is a failure to any organization. Absolutely there are great teams every year that fall short. However, these teams aren't playing for "good enough" or "let's just make the playoffs this year". They play to win. Anything short of that is a failure. They don't want and wouldn't accept a participation trophy. .

I get what you're saying but you could argue that anybody that thinks the Pats don't have the greatest chance of going to the Super Bowl is delusional. Who honestly has a realistic shot at standing in their way? If Denver's offense had any life I would say them but it's already been proven that if you put any points up against their defense they just can't keep up regardless of how elite their defense is. If not Denver, you're banking one of the following: CIN, KC, PIT, INDY, OAK, BUF, NYJ, HOU.....I'm not a Pats fan but to think any of those teams stand a greater shot than NE is silly. If any coaching staff can turn nothing into something, it's NE (and clearly Carolina). Obviously any team can win on any given day but REALISTICALLY, injuries or not, this is NE's conference to lose. NFC..it's Carolina and Ari and it isn't close but strange things do happen...you can never count out the NYG.

To be fair, I would wager if you ask any player/coach /w a competitive nature (which I would would think would be 99% of the players in the NFL), a season where they did not win the super bowl is considered a season that "sucked" and/or they "sucked". If you want to be blunt, there are 31 teams that suck each year and 1 that doesn't. Bragging about making it to the AFC/NFC champion ship game and losing is just bragging about being a loser.

The "cleaning spray" is a gimmick and a waste of money. A "magical spray" isn't a substitute for elbow grease and a toothbrush. Soaking Bearings and your hard metals (main gear, pinion, levelwind-never plastic) in Acetone and everything else in hot soapy water will clean everything in your reel perfectly with a toothbrush. The grease will suffice but it's quality I felt was lacking. It's longevity was questionable and it got "tacky" the few times I used it. Penn reel grease and SuperLube are the same price are, in my experience, a much better quality lubricant. I use quality bearings. I put quality oil in them. Each oil serves a different purpose. REM oil goes in abec 7 ceramics due to its low viscosity. Boca lightning goes in non ceramic spool bearings. Daiwa blue goes in/on anything else that requires oiling.

1. I make sure they are in the boat 2. Reels will get wet. It's inevitable. You're fishing in water....and if you get rained on they all get wet on the deck of the boat. Don't drop them in the drink and they will be fine. 3. I put a reel cover on each one and put them back in the locker. Once a year I clean them for the most part during the winter when I can't fish. I break them all down and deep clean every part and polish certain things. I do this twice a year (once during mid summer on top of the annual winter) to my frog and punching reels due to the amount of crap that just gets built up on the reel. I like Daiwa Blue oil/Rem Gun oil/Boca Lightning for oils. Penn reel grease and/or SuperLube for grease. I'm not a fan of the Ardent cleaning kit and wouldn't recommend it.
