  1. Well the 3 power is a great senko rod. Personally, 3/8 weight + bait isn't a great choice for the 3 power rod. It's doable, but would not be my first choice. I would get the 4 power (I'd personally use the 734 but if you don't want the 7'3 get the 7'0). I can throw senkos on the DX744 and champ 734 w/o any problems and i use the 744 for 1/4oz-3/8oz texas rig'd plastics. I also use the 734 for spinnerbaits 3/8+. I like the 3 powers more for 1/4oz swim jigs, rage rig'd plastics, 1/8oz trigs, 1/4oz spinnerbaits (3/8 works okay on the 733 as well) stuff like that. If you stick /w 1/4oz trigs, weightless senkos give or take a small weight, a small spinnerbaits up to 3/8, the 3 power Dobyns would work perfect. 3/8oz weight + bait is pushing it but doable in open water.

  4. I've never heard of an instance where you needed proof of purchase to utilize the Dobyns warranty. Just using a simple google search, I found countless threads asking the same question and not once did anybody ever have an issue getting a replacement rod being the non original owner. Make sure you get good pictures of the cork when buying used. I've seen a few lately /w chunks missing and the seller not saying anything about it.
  5. No idea about megabass. The only knowledge I have of loomis is my 1 NRX that has a wildcard that i've never had to use. If you get the wildcard from the seller, you get the warranty. Dobyns rods have such amazing customer service. I've yet to use it but it's an 80$ no questions asked warranty original owner or not.
  6. Well at least they went back to a cork handle
  7. The only trailer I put on a spinnerbait is a trailer hook.
  8. The only size I throw is 3/8. I don't like the heaiver size chatterbaits.
  9. I wish i could like this more than once
  10. Take those gloves off big girl =) At least your fortunate enough to have an enjoyable fight. When I haphazardly snag them, they fight for a short burst and then it's just a game of "let's see if the lipless pulls out before he gets to the boat." I will say that I have caught one on a Yellow Magic just recently that did do some pretty cirque du soleil stuff. The fight was a decent but I think it had to do more /w me trying to get him in as quick as possible while praying the 20$ topwater didn't get bite off. You KS folk and your Gar eating ways scare me.
  11. We don't have those baby fish. We have Pike. Bigger, probably not as annoying but still.., and show up in the most nonsensical places.
  12. 5/0 EWG for dragging 4/0 flipping hook for pitching laydowns/cover/brush
  13. I also use the 705cb glass but /w a 51 size shimano for manns -1. with the recent shad spawn, wake baits are killer.
  14. And that F$#K that goes double for this one....
  15. This guy is a boss for ponying himself up for a demonstration and deserves a beer if you see him. I don't even think his voice cracked. Now whether he was doing the braid removal trick correctly, I don't know. I've never (knock on wood) had that happen. I did bury a 2.5 hook in my thumb but I was able to cut the barb and pull it through.
  16. I prefer the Mojo Carolina sinkers when fishing in those areas.
  17. Sick bump of a 1 year old post. Almost a year to the date, too.
  18. Hard to hook????. I've caught (yes caught in that toothy jaw) more of those annoying, bony, pieces of trash on a squarebill and swimbaits than I've snagged /w a lipless in the spring on the river. Especially when it floods.
  19. Just wondering how you are liking these. I ordered some just to try. I like mine for the most part. A few complaints though. The weedguard is a tad stiff/thick and short for my liking on a swim jig. I ordered 2x 1/4oz 4 packs. I have tied up 4 so far and 1 of them will turn on its side when retrieving. It cannot be "popped" in placed while retrieving. They do use a good hook..no complaints there. Decent paint job, too. The keeper for the skirt is nice but the bait keeper could use some tweaking. It's adequate though. They do come through wood pretty good but not any better than Brovarney's.
  20. If you haven't cleaned the reel yet, do it. Flush the bearings and you should certainly see an increase in casting performance.
  21. The late 80's called. They want their video game system back.
  22. You get a pass on this one . I should say I'm specifically looking for a weightless Trig'd senko rod. While the DX743(had to) makes a great senko rod, more often than not, it has a rage rig of some sort tied on or a 1/8oz trig. Obviously I could just retie but what kind of angler would I be if I didn't just buy a different set up instead. I've never tried Daiwa rods and the zillion's seem to have a good rep. What is this octopus reel seat you speak of? Specifically, how does it compare to the Doybns ECS reel seats? I love ECS. I hate hate hate SK2 style seats. Let me know your thoughts on the 7'M or how it compares to a Dobyns 3 power.
  23. Which ones? I'd be interested in hearing your opinion of them....even if they are 7'
  24. This. You won't regret this. If you're feeling ambitious, save an extra 50$ above your 130$ budget and get the new Curado I.
