  1. Use a finger nail clipper and make those tags almost non existent. Its crazy how a little bit if a tag can be a huge inconvenience.
  2. If its a knot for backing, i use 2. You should never cast to the knot anyway. Its only there to keep 2 lines together.
  3. how many turns did you use when connecting the backing to the line?
  4. Clean it. Dunking a reel in wAter purposely or not is not good for it.
  5. as long as overnight temps stay above freezing, ice can go super quick. if day time temps are 50-60 but night is sub 32 its going to be a loooong spring
  6. Are these scratch cards just handed out at store?
  7. I second that . Even. 7# would be okay
  8. I second that . Even. 7# would be okay
  9. I got some for really cheap at an expo 2 week ago. I'll let you know how it works if winter ever ends
  10. I use them on most of my reels. I like them.
  11. Nobody casts a frog 100 yards let alone 75. Most people dont really understand how far that really is. All my 50 siZe reels have 20 yds of backing to accommodate 200 yd spools to get 3 "topshots" at 65ish yds. The 50 can fish frogs fine but i dont like it. I use 50s for anything from jigs to topwater just not frogs. The 200 have a 7:1 gearing that i like for frogs.
  12. The only thing i do right away to a shimano is take out the anti reverse ratchet(not the bearing). At that point though, im already in the reel so i usually flush the bearings if i got some time.
  13. Anybody know the size of this bearing? I was cleaning mine and when I took it out of the cleaner it felt really rough. reel was smooth as butter before i started.I took a shield off and am just letting it soak to see what happens but I may need to order a new one.
  14. x x2 on the AR bearing. Unless you like learning by trial and error taking the reel apart and putting it back together a few times, just leave it if it's working fine. Any amount of over doing it on this bearing will cause a major headache when your drag is pulling and the AR doesn't lock. It will sound/feel like your reel is broke but it's just a matter of too much grease/oil. you can clean the handle bearings. pop the tap on the handle knob off on a screw will be under the cap. unscrew it and kinda pull at the same time. either the bearing/bushing will stay on the handle or they will be wedged in the knob. just push them out and clean/oil them. they make take a little more cleaning but it's very easy.
  15. braid /w a fluoro leader will definitely be more manageable. if you want to go straight fluoro, stay around the 6-8# on a spinning reel. 10-20# braid /w a leader enables you to use a heavier fluoro leader. as for jerkbaits, i'm sure there are some that throw them on spinning tackle /w a leader but i prefer casing gear and using straight 10# fluoro/mono.
  16. It was a good rod when it came out but the the times have passed it by. Still an okay rod but the options in the 100$ range are so vast now the mojo falls by the wayside now.
  17. dobyns 705cb glass is be perfect for those
  18. The program he had your dad installed gives him remote access to anything on the computer. Microsoft does this if you are having issues with windows OS. I dont know if amazon does this(i doubt they do) i sure as **** wouldnt chance it. You will need to get your comp looked at for a keylogger. Simply downloading a random anti spyware program wont fix it. It will only find it. It will replicate itself within the registry every time. As for the calls....well played.
  19. Unless you're fishing for sturgeon or big flatheads and bluecats, a 2500 size reel will be more than adequate for any freshwater fish. I'd recommend the stradic. I've never had an issue with them. I don't like graphite frame reels. they have a tendency to flex under a load which will cause gearing to pull out of sync. the saros is a good reel as well. if you can get a stradic for 130, buy it. don't over think a spinning reel too much. The stradic FJ has Xship will which essentially just makes it easier to reel while under load. The stradic spinning reels that I've owned all needed a "break in" period which was maybe 2-3 outings until they really felt very smooth. All of the stradics I owned/own have only got better with time. I didn't like the pflueger patriach which is in the same retail price range. As for the drag, it will pretty much be a non issue going from 2500 to 3000. the stradics drag is very smooth. I use 1000 size reels with 7# fluoro and another /w 6# braid and have hauled in 30# carp walleye fishing in 20+ feet of water and it never failed. you'll be fine.
  20. 7' Medium Heavy Fast great all around rod that will do a lot.
  21. When it comes to fluorocarbon, it does. you get what you pay for in this instance. sniper is a great line. it sounds like you've already made your mind up anyway so asking a question about it seems kinda meaningless. if you feel pline fishes the same as sniper, then by all means, keep fishing pline.
