  1. The Tatula handle assembly is a popular "after market" addition people put on other daiwa reels. Don't know what your height/weight has to do with anything unless you're using trying to fish and sit on the reel at the same time. Never heard of them bending.
  2. ha, sorry bud. I left it sit here for a few weeks and nobody really joined. Posted over on the big forum and it filled up pretty quick. I emailed you guys but I'll also post here...draft is tomorrow, 9/2, at 5 pm central.
  3. Really simple to find stock and aftermarket. Daiwa Ray's studio ZPI Hedgehog studios
  4. Megabass Sonicside so far took over as my favorite non balsa flatside. LC Kelly J Flat and 6th sense crush 75 are close seconds. Balsa would be the Zoom WEC wobbler and Dbaits
  5. The AR is made up of independent rollers. These rollers are very tempermental to over greasing and/or oiling as well as premature failure. The rollers themselves hold a one way clutch sleeve in place to prevent what the OP is describing from happening. If the rollers stick, fail, failout, etc, this tolerance reliable system will do a lot of things that make people think its a drag stack or a bad bearing. When you set the hook, you’re putting pressure on the drag which puts pressure on the clutch sleeve. If the tolerances aren’t there, internals will slip and grind. I’ve replaced them for a few people. Could it be gears? Sure. Could also be a bent spool shaft, sheered spool spin, clutch cam, clutch spring, and the list goes on. Theres a lot of things that could cause a reel to grind on a hookset.
  6. take the knob cap off and unscrew the handle screw from the handle.
  7. If the AR went completely out, yes. If the AR is failing, over oiled, over greased, or has sleeves missing, the symptoms he is experiencing are what happens when the prior happens. The clutch sleeve won't seat properly and will cause misalignment in pretty much everything that needs tolerances to function correctly. Aside from a select few, drag in a casting reel isn't audible. If putting pressure on the drag stack causes a grinding noise, there's something wrong internally.
  8. Sounds like the AR went out.
  9. SO you dunked a reel and then “hosed it off” then sprayed reel magic, oil the bearings and greased it? Thats worse than just dunking it. If it feels gritty or slow then just send it to somebody that knows what they’re doing because when you submerge a real anything and everything can get inside
  10. Better casting. You don't "need" to do any of it. Dress up parts are something we add to reels we really like and to set them apart. I have handles that cost more than some people's budget for reels. The ZPI NRC spool gets steller reviews. Once the color I want comes in, I'm getting one for a Steez A. Haven't used the ZPI oil but I do like the Hedgehog Alchemy long cast for spool bearings.
  11. Been using them for years. Great bait and kicks a lot at slow speeds.
  12. I recommend the office zpi. hedgehog zr are an amazing value for the price. Really quiet, smooth bearings.
  13. That 742c is an awesome rod. It would be cheaper to just throw in some ZR bearings in the Tatula SV and go from there but if that isn't a concern I would opt for the Steez just for the form factor of the reel. It's just so comfortable and smooth. The Zillion G1 spool is an awesome spool though. It's head and shoulders better than the Tatula but the performance is much closer between the Zillion G1 spool and the Steez G1 spool. Assuming you have your reels dialed in right and bearings aren't gummed, the 742 really launchs a weight trig senko. I've personally just had bad luck /w stock daiwa bearings but I swap them out anyway.
  14. Never used the Curado DC but stock the Tatula SV TW isn't anything to write home about distance wise but it's about as use friendly as a reel gets. However, drop a pair of 20$ hedgehog ZR's in it and the reel really opens up. I've put it on a DX742C specifically for senkos because new bearings really opened the reel up. Can skip and cast as far as I want w/o any problems. Only complaint is the spool is a little deeper than I want for 10# line but it now performs just really well. I'm not crazy about stock daiwa bearings to begin with. I've got a few SV TW's and A's /w the SV TW spools in all of them. Just an awesome spool. Especially /w a set of office ZPI's in the reel.
  15. Saying "the sv system" isn't apples to apples. There's countless SV spools that all perform differently. Gonna have to be specific about which spool. Any baitcast reel can cast a senko (a 5in weighs almost 3/8oz) "into the next county" It's the Indian not the arrow.
  16. don't crank down on the nut /w a wrench. Shimano reels are notorious for having a little in and out handle play. It's normal. Some people notice it more than others and some don't even notice it at all. You're good bud.
  17. We've told you 3-4 times what to do and what issues to address and you still haven't done it. That's the problem.
  18. Custom k2 736. Sold my nrx 894 for it and have yet to regret it. Nrx blanks are nice but, for me, the balance, guides, reel seat, and handle were awful.
  19. They closed out at 200$ and aren't as sought after anymore /w the SV103 being introduced. 160-200$ would be a ballpark.
  20. League has reached it's 8 person limit ?
  21. I'm referring to the beveled washers. These are the washers that sit under the drag star and need to be orientated like so: ( ). When speaking of grease, I'm referring to the felt washer in the main gear under the handle side plate.
