  1. It says a 4.5 inch bass not a 4.5lb bass or am I reading his post wrong?
  2. I am a firm believer in the Yo-Zuri Hybrid line. I currently use 12lb on my baitcasters and 6lb on my spinning rod. I don't think I will be changing them anytime soon!!
  3. Well, we decided we are going to try our luck at Smithville since gas prices are so high right now. I will show my father in law the map above. He knows how to get around the bad spots. It just seems like no matter where we go we end up getting skunked. Hoping to return tomorrow with a good report.
  4. I have the green in 12lb and the smoke color in 6lb. I don't fish any lakes that are super clear so it doesn't matter to me.
  5. I have it on all my rods except for 2 that have braid. I use 12lb for baitcasting and 6 for spinning rod. I also started to use it after seeing RW talk about it so much on here!!
  6. We decided to pass due to the tournaments being there this weekend. I appreciate the help. We fish there some but never do very well at all.
  7. Has anyone been out to Smithville Lake lately? I am planning on going this weekend and looking for some advice. The report shows they are biting pretty good on spawning banks but I don't know where to start. Thanks in advance for any info you guys can share.
  8. I store mine together in a plano box. I do seperate them by brand only.
  9. That's awesome!!! Congrats to your son!! Hope you have many more special days with him!!!
  10. this is what I use thanks to RW.
  11. This one
  12. Looks closer to the 3lb mark to me
  13. Since you posted this to try to get a sponsor you might want to change your profile picture too. The one with you and your girl touching tongues probably isn't going to appeal to any companies.

Look in the upper right hand corner for the search box. Type in flukes and hit search. Should be enough info there to keep you busy reading for awhile.
  15. Thats a great looking jig!! I have a spinnerbait that is pretty close to the same color and it is by far my best one. I might have to sweet talk the wife into letting me get a few of these ordered soon.
  16. since this topic is all about Shaw.. what the heck does he have at the end of his rods and what are they for?
  17. I would say that just about any type of barrell swivel will work just fine. As far as length of line from the swivel to the hook, about any length would work as long as you dont have to reel the swivel into the tip of the rod.
  18. I don't know anything about painting crankbaits but I would imagine that it is similar to painting cars. I would take the new crankbait and scuff it up with fine sandpaper. Just enough to knock the shine off. Then apply the base coat/primer. Let it dry and then add your color. When that is all dry then apply the clear coat/ sealer for the outer layer. I may be way off base too, but this is how I would do it.
  19. I'm trying to convince my father in law to go to Melvern this weekend. He has never caught a smallmouth and I want to get him on the board. Where are some good places to hit besides the dam? I have only fished there once, last falls get together, and mainly stayed around the dam any tips you can give would be greatly appreciated. thanks Kyle
  20. I am using a H action Veritas rod this year for frogging around heavy vegetation. Mine is a 7 ft rod. Last year I used a 7' MH rod and did pretty good but never really fished around the heavy stuff. I would think your pick would work just fine.
  21. Last year I had 2 that bailed me out plenty of times. A wacky rigged senko style bait and a 10" Berkley powerbait worm in motoroil color. This year I haven't fished as much as I would like so nothing in the panic box just yet.
  22. If you can put the bullet where it is suppose to go then you should have no problems at 200-300 yards.
  23. Nice fish!!! Congrats
  24. I use the Lew's Speed Spool, the $99.00 one, and like it a lot. Plus at that price you could pick up another rod and still match your 200.00 budget. I have mined paired up with the Abu Garcia Winch model rod.
