Best Spawn Baits???
I like BIG baits! I feel like it threatens the bass more so they strike quicker and harder. 8 - 12" Lizards are great.

The Original Trout Glider
Just pointing out that the bait at Allbaba and the Trout Glider are slightly different. The biggest difference is the rear hook hanger, the Chinese one the hanger comes out of the bait right at the body, the Trout Glider comes out at the end of that fin. I've never seen either in person or tried either, just looking at pictures

Big bass mystery
This reminds me of a small local pond we have here (Virginia). This pond is about 7 acres, and had great fishing all thru the 90's, where I caught bass up to 7 lbs, and lots of 3 - 5 lbers. Then in about 2003 a hurricane came thru, and caused the lake to have low oxygen, and a large fish kill happened. Practically everything in the lake bigger then 4 inches died. Now since everything in the lake was the same size, the bluegill and crappie had no predators (at least none big enough to eat them). Since bluegill will spawn multiple times a year, and generally have a much higher rate of survival, they took over. Today the pond is packed with bluegill and crappie, but there isn't a bass in the pond bigger then 1.5 lbs. It was electroshocked recently and the biggest bass was 1.38 lbs, and only 3 were found bigger then 12 inches. Crappie and Bluegill eat anything and everything there is, and the bass can't grow big enough to eat the the bluegill. The biologist says there is a large amount of 4 - 6 inch bluegill but very few smaller, so they are just to big for the small bass.

Prepping a Jig
I love this thread, and bumping it up to see if anyone did anything new. I trim the skirt to the hook bend and thats about it. I make my own from start to finish, so there isn't a lot to change. I do tie my skirts differently so there isn't anything to cut or trim, which gives off maximum flair.

Diascund Creek Reservoir in VA
You should be able to look at the local city's GIS viewer and see who owns the land. http://www.co.new-kent.va.us/index.aspx?nid=297 Hopefully that'll at least get you a starting point for that hunt club

Bassmaster Classic 2018
I wish it'd come back to the Chesapeake Bay/James River. There's so many options and places to go from there, and we haven't had a Classic here in 25+ years

Bass Fishing Blasphemy
Everything I do is not considered normal in the fishing community: I only use mono, 8 - 12 lb test, I've been known to flip and pitch with 8 lb test I cast and hold the rod with my right hand I've never caught a bass on a buzzbait My longest rod is 6'6", but I almost entirely use 6 footers I catch more and bigger bass swimming a jig then casting, pitching, or flipping them I swim Flipping Jigs not swim jigs I catch WAY WAY more fish on Yum Dingers then Senko's I can't catch a fish on any Rapala product, no idea why

Pro Angler Advice
Years ago, I had a buddy win a Bass Invitational, he led wire to wire. I read every article I could on the tournament, as I personally knew the guy, and had already spoken with him and knew all the details on the win. Every magazine, including Bassmasters, said he won the tournament with 2 lures, a "unidentified bait" and specific Shad Rap. Technically True, but the unidentified bait they had a picture of and it was obivious to everyone is was a old Smithwick Rogue (not a sponsor), and the Shad Rap (Rapala was a sponsor). The articles led you to believe the Shad Rap did most of the damage and the Rogue just caught one here or there, in reality it was the Rogue that caught all of his keepers, and the Shad Rap he only threw for 5 minutes on the last day just to catch something on it to say it caught fish. After that I never trusted the magazines or pro's. I jut watch what they are doing, not what they are saying

Actual Hardware for Soft Plastic Rigs
Not hardware, but I always use Jingle Bells as rattles on my jigs instead of store bought rattles. It's a different sound that I think works better, and so much cheaper

Notebook
I do something similar. I have around 20 3 ring binders, that are labeled by lure (Crankbaits, Spinnerbaits, Jigs, etc), Season (Prespawn, Spawn, Summer, Fall, etc), Locations (Lakes within 500 miles of me, I either go to or want to go to, Tournament Results, etc) and Misc (Lure Modifications, Techniques, Organization, etc). Everytime I read a magazine, I'll cut out the "good" articles to organize into my binders, same with online articles or forum post. I have years worth of stuff in each one. Each binder is now around 4 inches think, and now some have a Part 1, Part 2, etc. At any time I can refer to each one for any info I may need on any subject. To me these are worth their weight in gold.
