Fishing In The Rain
I luv fishing in the rain and think that fish are far less spooky also....I like a noisier faster moving lure in the rain to get their attention from the rain.

Know Your Prey.
The video reminds me of a gin clear little lake near me here. I was able to see 20feet down and watch smallmouth as they checked out EVERY single lure throw to them. The bass would swim right up to the lure , maybe bump it or just watch it for a few seconds before swimming away....The surprising part was that even with a big field of view where I could not see a fish, bass would quickly swim to the bait from my peripheral vision to look it over....Since then I try to think with each cast that there is a bass right behind it ready to bite, and that I need to concentrate so as not to miss a hit.

Who Eats Bass?
I recall some years ago catching a nice limit of bluegills right off my brother-in-laws dock.....My kids had a great time catching them as many were caught beneath the dock where they could see the action in the clear water.....I took the fish home and filleted them immediately......Battered the fillets and into the frying pan.......These sunfish tasted just like eating decaying lake weeds...They were absolutely awful!!!!.....YUK, I can still remember that taste in my mouth.

Conflicting Summer Fishing
I sometimes fish with a guy that is a bank beater. He crashes the shoreline, and I simply turn around and work the opposite side of the boat in deeper water.....We both catch fish, but, my deep dwellers are usually bigger.I try to stay at or near the deep weedline which is 15-20feet here.

Bass Travels
I have always wondered just how far largemouth bass travel during the course of a typical year.....I know smallmouth are more nomadic, and I've read that largemouth tend to be homebodies, only moving several hundred feet during a typical season.......Do northern strain bass and southern strain have different movement patterns?.....Do bass in impoundments act differently than in natural lakes?....It would seem that the smaller area that a bass travels, the easier to locate and catch them.

What Do You Do When A Fish Short Lines You?
The boatside strike is a time when ALL your equipment, rod, reel , and line are tested....The sudden surge on short line usually relies on a good knot and smooth drag set properly(or free spool) , rod strength , hook strength, and an angler awareness to land the bass........The worst feeling is when you lift the rod and there on the end of the line is this curly-q where the knot failed......AAAAAAAAH!......I bet many don't have the drag set properly?....I know I sometimes forget to recheck the drag ,and am reminded when a solid strike happens......You may be using a knot that works just fine, UNTIL it doesn't, when that hog slams your lure.

Bass In England?
Dwight, I did some looking about on the net, and, appears you are correct. Very limited number of natural lakes.

Overpopulated. What To Do??
Net the pond, throw back all decent sized bass and what else you want in there, use the smaller bass for fish fertilizer...Stock bait fish.

Bass In England?

That's Photoshopped!!
Come on people, we all know any number of people that STRETCH the truth or FRACTURE facts. They come in all sizes , shapes, and ages....Some just cant help themself and tend to exaggerate all the time, while others limit it to others they want to impress....My nephew is an uncurable fish length stretcher....We normally just measure for length , only sometimes weighing. Nephew sends me photos and his 5's are 3 1/2's whenever he isn't fishing with me. When we fish together he tries to hide his measurements, quickly tossing back the fish to fog up the situation....I have learned to laugh at his very predictable actions , expecting nothing less........I too do not approve of the lying , but chalk it up to human imperfections.....Just think what the percentage is for the Political ranks?.........OMG!!!!!!!!

How To Focus On Large Bass Only
If you are using larger and heavier hook sizes , you would be well advised to use use braided line with a heavy fluorocarbon leader so you can set the hook with authority to get hook penetration......With a medium to long cast ,and in deeper water your lighter weight mono line simply will not allow you to get a good hook set because of line stretch......If your not going to listen to the advise given here you shouldn't have asked for advise........You say you don't fish around areas where you need heavier line? Well if you hook a big bass you never know what obstructions, branches, weed clumps , wood ,rocks, etc that will test your line while fighting a big fish....When you lose that big one because of line breakage,THEN you will find out why the need for heavier line and hook. 5 lb bass can be a tussle , don't need to be a 10 lber to reguire heavier hook and line.
