  3. In my quest for bass fishing knowledge, I found this site about 5 years ago. I knew what jigs were, but they seemed boring to me, a little too simple of a method. I was seeking something exciting, explosive and complex. I continued to read and see photos of big bass that were caught using jigs. I decided to give this simple, boring jig fishing a try. Success wasn't instant, and I am sure I missed bites with out even knowing it. I had many outings with out a jig fish, but those pics of big jig fish that were posted here kept me using it even with out much confidence. Then on a tough spring day when nothing else me and my partner threw was working my patience paid off, after thousands of casts, flips and pitches my line starts to run off, I rear back and feel the resistance and I landed my first jig fish. It wasn't a monster, but to me it was a monster break through. I have since landed many quality jig fish under tough fishing conditions throughout the season. Its not a fast paced deal but if you have the patience, you will be rewarded.

  12. i just got one and tried it in erie bay on sunday. I couldnt get the thing to walk the dog, I cut about an inch off the legs because i read that doing so would make walking the dog easier. I can walk the dog very well with other baits i was using braided line and a 7 foot heavy action rod. any tips would be appreciated oh and i didnt get any blowups either but there wasnt much of a topwater bite sunday anyway

i havent fished off that pier but ive been to erie and fished from boat and shore and i am pretty confident you can catch somthing from a rock pier. largies smallies sheepies, gobies id try tubes and topwater should be good now too find some weeds and swim a jig in there and i am sure you can pull a few in. good luck and let us know how you make out e

  15. I am heading to Fort Morgan Alabama on the 19th I was there last year and ended up fishing off a pier and catching what people were calling brown mullet. these things were the only thing we could catch except I caught a sea turtle by accident, any way we were using shrimp and squid and i threw some lures but all we got were tons of mullet. what can I use to catch somthing else? what would hit a top water lure ? I dont know about saltwater so I am looking for some advice thanks,, E
  16. i dont know if this is considered a prank or revenge The time bomb. remove a light switch or plug outlet in the targets house and or apt and stuff some.... fish ,shrimp, chicken, steak ect... in there behind the wall and replace switch or outlet. just add some time. i once had a friend with a pet trantula i was over his place before work one day and he told me it died. i asked him if i could have it i took it to work and stuck it in this guys work boot that was in a constant prank battle with another coworker needless to say he found it and thought it was his arch enemy. i sat back and enjoyed the fireworks
  17. if you can see the fish the waters probaly clear id downsize my line and go with a small tube with light weight or drop shot a small worm or wacky rig a senko in natural colors also id try a small crawfish crank or a lipless crank like a rattle trap a jig and pig worked slow or a carolina rigged senko worked slow good luck e
  18. jig tiped with minnow
  19. I hear ya Catt! my concern comes from getting more bites than before and better quality bites at that, but losing 5 fish in two outings with the jig makes me think I am doing something wrong. I am hoping the tight drag will be the difference.
  20. i am gonna crank it down ill keep ya posted
  21. I probaly does slip when I set the hook and I notice it slipping while fighting the fish before they yak the jig back at me. I am gonna tighten the drag and see if that works thanks fot the replys
  22. I respooled my flippin stick with 50 lb suffix braid for fishing jigs and trailers. I researched braid on this fourm pretty good and learned lots of tips like using backing when spooling and not to set the drag too tight to prevent the line cutting into the spool. At first use I could instantly tell that the braid was much more sensitive and manage to land some nice fish. but the last two trips ive lost some very nice fish. I feel the bite ,I set the hook upwards pretty hard the fish comes up and jumps and spits the jig back at me I am thinking my drag may be too loose? am I just running thru a spell of bad luck or am I doing something wrong?
